Looking for help in obtaining an obit for Justus Petter who died
November 9m 1923 in Hopkinsville area. Thank you in advance.Also looking for information on his son Henry and daughter Dena Mary and Tillie.

Dear Mr. Hahn,

I am the genealogy librarian here at the Hopkinsville/Christian Co. Library and unfortunately we do not have newspapers for most of the twenties and early thirties, they were destroyed by a flood. I can however, see if I can find a death certificate for him. The search fee and copy will be $5.00. If you want me to see if one was filed, please let me know, I'll be more than glad to check.

I found the death certificate on Justus Petter. He was 78 yrs. old when he died and he died in Western State Hospital here in Hopkinsville. It states that he had chronic myocarditis and that is of course, heart trouble. Contributory cause was insanity which could easily have been alzheimers. He states that he is buried in Paducah, McCracken Co., Ky. We have several cemetery books on that county but I could not find him listed. I'm going to give you the address for the library there, maybe they can be of some help.

My father-in-law was William Petter Born 1905 in Avereest> His father was John Petter born in 1861. His fathers, father was Hendrik Petter married to Grietz Haasjes, I don't know what year he was born. The John Petter mentioned above was married to a Hendrika Staefelaar. I don't know if this is any relation or not, that is the farest back I go.

John Petter came to america in around 1907. He had at least 8 children with him and one child was born in the United States

father hendrik jans petter 27-10-1797
mother hilligje huls 11-11-1797
one of his brothers is klaas petter 16 oktober 1839 who came to vroomshoop between 1863 and 1866
my grandfather hendrik petter born at 12 oktober 1873 told my that family from amerika
came to visit him but he did not believe he had family from amerika so he did not believed them.
