Hello,
I will reply to your Email address. Your assumptions as to Elizabeth Phineas are correct. Thanks for the piece on Amable's marriage to a "de Tonnacour" - new info for me. As to Georges, he did marry (22.02.1841) Marie Louise Josephine Pélican (do: Joseph Pelican & Marie Therese Naflet Bistodeau). To my knowledge Georges was only called by that name. The couple of Georges & Louise only lasted 4 years as he died at 29 yrs (1845). His wife re-married (1846) to Charles St Antoine. Hoping this helps clear up who did what! Anne

Hello,
Isaac Phineas & Hannah(Anne)Cook were indeed officially married 1n 1822 (after all 9 children were born)- theirs was called a "rehabilitated" marriage or "mariage à la Gomine" because it occured after they had been living together. Isaac was Jewish (London, England) and Hannah Protestant (may be from Brockville, Ont.- father George Cook in lumber industry),while the children were brought up as Catholic. George Samuel Phineas is the only son & last child - he married Marie Josephte Louise Pellican - no children - Marie Josephte remarried after George's death to Charles St Antoine. George's older sister Delphine Phineas is my gr. x 2 gr. mother. If I can help please respond to my Email: ann.mc@sympatico.ca. Thanks,
Anne

I can give you some personal information about Henry and Mary (who was called Melissa) Sines. They were my great grandparents. Henry operated one of the first Coke furnaces in Rosepoint, Pa. There he refined steel for the Carnegie mills in Pittsburgh. My grandmother ran a rooming house at this time for men involved in the mining business in this area. Of their three children, all remained in the area. We had a very close extended family which included Peter Sines and his wife. My uncle has done quite a bit of research on the family and I will tell him of this site and try to get him to post it.

I am interested in your information. I became interested in the family while researching Yamaska. You must have the record of Isaac and Hannah's marriage at Christchurch, Sorel 15 Aug 1822, but this was almost certainly a supplemental religious ceremony. Hannah was recorded as being from St Antoine (of which there are several), I think it is Louiseville. Was Georges also called Samuel--who married Louise-Josephine Peloquin? Elisabeth Phineas w/o Amable Paradis died 25 Aug 1829 at Yamaska and was buried on Aug 28. Amable remarried Sophie Rousseau, sister of Leon, who I think was one of the "Patriots of 1837". He was also a physician and married to Agnes Elisabeth de Tonnancour, all the elite families of Yamaska.
My email is now disabs2753@yahoo.com

Here is what I can tell you about my Sines line. Jacob Sines b.approx 1806 married Polly Sines b. 1810

Their child Peter Sines b. 7-14-1840 married 1st Alice Pinnick and then Mariah Mitchell Culver. Mr. Culver died in the civil war.

My line is their daughter Cassie Sines and she had a brother. Cassie b. 12-15-1866 married Wilson Love.

It is my understanding that Peter Sines and Mariah Culver were neighbors. They had Cassie in 1866 but their marriage was 7-22-1881. Cassie's birth certificate lists Peter Sines as her father and Mariah Mitchell as her mother. Interesting huh?

Oh the Alice Phineas and Peter Sines thingie. Well here is what I have. Alice Phineas marries Peter Sines on 20 JUN 1867. This is quite off from your birthdate for Alice. I also suspect Alice Phineas was really Alice Pinnick. I know for sure that an Alcie Pinnick did marry a Peter Sines at about 1867. I have been chasing this pair for over 6 months. I THINK I have it figured out but not 100 percent sure. Can you tell me the parents of the Peter Sines you are looking for? Or a birth or death date for Peter Sines. I have four Peter Sines in the same area at the same time. I believe a lot of the online records got them as well as their children mixed up.

Pinick/Phineas name

Lisa, I did not give you all the data I have, just enough to support the conjecture on Mary Cassie Sines. However it should also be noted that Johnathan Pinnick that married a cousin to Peter Sines, his marrige listing also shows Clermont Phineas and Elizabeth as parents. The Elizabeth in this case is Elizabeth Peter. I do not know if this was the 2nd marriage of Elizabeth Peter or not. I am still researching that item. But it is interesting that both the Alice Pinnick, which is listed on my grandmother's death certificate as her mother, and Jno, Pinnick both have the same parents with a surname of Phineas.

I always heard of a brother and sister on the Pinnick side marrying a brother and sister on the Sines side. Well it was partially true, Alice and Jno. Pinncik were indeed siblings but the Sines turned out to be 1st cousins.

Do keep in touch, my ggrandfather, Peter Sines, is more than likely also yours. Have you ever visited the Sines page? dhaynes1@home.com

Peter Sines father is Jacob Sines. His mother is Polly Sines. They were married on 11-29-1828 and Jacob died before 9-2-1865 and Polly died on 8-11-1896. They were cousins I suppose. There were more than one Jacob Sines and Peter Sines living in the area at the time. I got this information from a family history booklett about the Sines family in the Mason County, WA library genealogical section.
The Peter and Alice I am looking for had Cassie Sines as their daughter. She was born 12-15-1866 and died 8-1-1928 according to her stone in the Concord Baptist Church Cemtery in Galipolis Ferry, WV.
Hope this helps pin down the correct Peter Sines.
