Hi Jean,

Solomon Phoenix was my great-great-great grandfather. If you go to my profile, you can see my tree, Clarke Family Tree, which is public. Go in and search for Solomon, Francis or Martha Phoenix.

I think you tried to attach the gedcom files in your last posting, but they're not in a form I can open. Could you try to send a link or attachment to my regular email address, sageclarke@comcast.net? That might work better.

Many Thanks,
Sage
Thomas Joseph Phoenix born 1868 immigrated to Canada the Chicago

I'm researching my great grandfather Thomas Joseph Phoenix who according to US 1900 census info was born in June 1868 in England. Family lore has that he immigrated from England to Canada with his parents and then to Chicago Illinois in 1886. I'm not sure what his parents names are or if they came to the US too. He married Mary Ellen Smith in Chicago Feb 27 1889 and became a naturalized citizen in 1900. By 1920 he and his family moved to Denver Colorado because he is there for the 1920 census.

I'd apprecaite any info or assitance on tracing his parents/siblings etc.

Thanks, Joan Phoenix LaRose

Shelburne, Ontario Newspaper article-Robert Phoenix of Mulmur in 1909
Thursday, May 13, 1909

• Robert Phoenix of Mulmur met with a heavy loss on Thursday last by having his residence destroyed by fire. The fire started in the back kitchen at about 2 a.m. and the cause is quite a mystery, there having been no fire there since last fall. Mr. Phoenix and family luckily escaped but had very little time to save much of the furniture. The fire placed Mr. Phoenix in a very awkward position as he can get no nearby house into which to move. He purchased another farm near the homestead last fall but that house will not be vacant until sometime in June. The premises were insured with the Dufferin Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company

Hello - My name is Gentry Simms from Barnwell, SC, and my Grandmother was Savannah Phoenix. Savannah Phoenix married Adam Gadson from Barnwell, and they had lots of children, some of the names were Louise, Jane, Josephine, Alice, Georgia, Annette, Daniel, James Wesley, Oscar, just to name a few. Grandmother Savannah had a brother named Joe Phoenix from the Martin, Millett, or Allendale areas. Uncle Joe's wife, I believe was named Sarah. I don't know whether Uncle Joe and Aunt Sarah had children, but I am told that Uncle Joe had at least two daughters, one named Louise Phoenix and the other named Vick Phoenix.

I have heard of a Lloyd Phoenix and Ida Badger Phoenix from the Allendale area as well, but can not actually verify kinship.

We may be related ...

I'm looking for the death date and burial place of Richard Huston Phoenix who was born April 13, 1886 in Kansas but was living in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1920 and 1930 census. He was in Chicago, IL in his 1942 WWII Draft Registration but his wife Lena was still in Tulsa. Thank you for any help.

Looking for more information on Phoenix from Tullylish, Co. Down, Ireland.

My family tree says Boyd Bullock married Peggy (Margaret) Phoenix born possibly 1790ish. She had siblings "one of whom was a school teacher in Clare and the other a lawyer in Dublin". I don't know about the Dublin part, but there are indications there was a family member in Clare. Boyd is a common name in the Bullock family. One of the Bullocks was a lawyer and perhaps employed a Phoenix relative.

Boyd and Margaret's children were Mary Ann (our line), Isaac, Ezekiel, Thomas, Margaret, and ELizabeth. I have no information on the other children.

Also looking for information on Jane Phoenix, daughter of John, farmer in "Drumnaveille, Tullylish." She was probably born about 1820-1830 and married a Magowan.

Kim,

Thank you for responding. I have recently found my great grandfather who was Edward Phoenix, and Great grandmother Mary C/E both listed as being born in VA. This has been a great experience for myself and all of my PHAMILY. I hope that we can keep in touch as our ancestry is revealed. Who knows, we may connect in time. Much Love,

Kevin M. Phoenix, Sr.

My name is Kim Phoenix. My father is Otis Phoenix, my grandfather is Robert Phoenix, however, he was adopted. I do not know my greatgrandparents or his real surname. No one in our family knows his real surname. My uncles are Mike Phoenix (Illinois) and James Phoenix (texas), I do not have aunts, but they say males are easier to track down.

She married Ralph lee Gill and they had three girls, Juanita[Mary], Joann, and Jacqulin. Juanita is my mother, she is the oldest.Juanita and Joann have passed, leaving Aunt Jackie as the oldest of the family, my brother Ralfh are next in line. you can see we dont have a lot of family left from the older generations. i really dont know any other Phoenixs, i dont believe i have ever meet any of them except my Great Grandparents, just my GreatGramma, GreatGranpa passed before i was born.

Hi,

I am trying to find out more information about my great great grandfather and his family. My 2greats grandfather, Jason Phoenix was born approximately 1867-1868. He married Emma Tinney and they had 8 children, one of whom was my great grandmother, Bertha Bell Phoenix (Smith). Jason and Emma lived in the Schenectady NY area from at least the 1900’s and on. If anyone has any information they are willing to share that would be great! I also do have more information on their children if anyone is interested. Thanks so much!
Re: Franklin K. Phoenix, Perry, NY > Delavan, Walworth Co, WI

From the "History of Walworth Co, WI - 1882", there is a biographic sketch under 'Town of Delavan' for Franklin K. Phoenix, proprietor of Phoenix Nursery, of Delavan, WI, is the son of Samuel F. and Sarah A. Phoenix; was born in Perry, Genesee Co, now Wyoming Co, NY, March 3, 1825. In July 1837, he came to Walworth Co, Wis, with his parents, and located on Sec. 15, town of Delavan, in September of that year. He returned East in the spring of 1841, and attended school in his native town one year; returned to Delavan in 1842 and established a nursery, which he carried on until June, 1854, when he moved to Bloomington, Ill., where he engaged in the same business on an extensive scale, having at one time 600 acres under stock, making one of the largest nurseries in the country, if not in the world; annual sale amounted to $200,000. Owing to a succession of unfavorable seasons, he became embarrassed, and was obliged to close out the business in 1877. He remained at Bloomington one year later, then went to the State of New York, where he remained until August, 1879, and then returned to Delavan, there he has since resided. On his return to Delavan, he re-established a nursery. He was married, at Darien, Walworth Co, Wis, Dec 2, 1850, to Mary E. Topping, daughter of Thomas Topping. Mrs. Phoenix was born in Montgomery Co, NY. They had seven children -- five sons and two daughters -- Samuel T., A. Melville (died at 18 years of age), Fred S., F. May, Frank, John J., Carrie.
