I am also looking for the parents of Dorothy Pickworth, the marriage to George Cullen in Great Gonerby says she was from Colsterworth (I think spelt wrong on translation). I am unable to find the actual copy of the parish register (live in Outer Hebrides) as was curious to know if witnesses meant anything.

To add to the weight that Dorothy Pickworth was the daughter of Richard and Eleanor George her husband was also born and brought up in Westborough cum Doddington so the chances are that is where they met.

I thought I might be able to find a will or something for Richard but no luck, don't know if they had muster rolls in the 18th century as that normally tells you how many children the male had.

Regards

Debs

Pickworth links with Pogson or Cuthbert

A bit of a long shot but I am trying to trace any connection between the Pickworths and Pogson family who were living in Coningsby Lincolnshire in the early 1800's. One of my ancestors was an Eliza Pickworth Pogson. Her father was William Pogson and Mother Elizabeth Cuthbert. It seems possible that Pickworth may have been a maiden name of someone who married into the Pogsons or Cuthberts a generation or two previously. Anyone have these names in their trees?

You were looking for the descendents of Richard Pickworth and Eleanor Newton. From LDS IGI, they were John 1748, Hannah 1749, Mary 1752, William 1756, Eleanor 1759, William 1764, Richard 1760, Newton 1754. All were born in Westborough cum Doddington.

My gg grandmother Dorothy Pickworth married George Cullen in 1787 from westborough cum doddington. They had a son Richard Cullen in 1798 in Great gonerby. It is quite likely that Dorothy Pickworth was a child of richard Pickworth and Eleanor Newton, but i haven't been able to validate that.

If you have any informationI would love to hear from you.

My gg grandmother Dorothy Pickworth married George Cullen in Colsterworth Lincolnshire in 1786 and had a number of children in Great Gonerby including my g grandfather John Cullen (Culling) in 1805. I would estimate that Dorothy's probable birthdate would be from 1758 to 1768. Her husband, George was born in 1761. This fits into the 1752 time frame for Richard and Eleanor marriage. Skillington is right next to Colsterworth I understand.

I know four years have passed since your initial query. Do you have any further information that could clarify Dorothy's parents.

I can't find a birth record for him in NSW. They lived in Bathurst for a while and had four children, Marian, Charles, Herbert and Winnifred.
Thanks for this. My relative Arthur Richardson (and his wife Hannah nee De La Bertauche, and baby daughter Eleanor) emigrated to Los Angeles in 1890. Felix Pickworth, along with my family members, was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Harlesden at the same period, from approx 1880-88 - I have a Minute Book in Felix's handwriting. If you are able to let me know where Felix emigrated to in 1888, and if there are any surviving family members who may have knowledge of the Richardsons, I would be delighted to hear from you - RchHrvy@aol.com.
Pickworth family

I am researching the Pickworth family who lived in Harlesden, London c.1880s. Felix Henry Pickworth was greatly involved in the Wesleyan Church in Harlesden up to 1888. I believe he, and his family - wife Emma Jane, son Ernest Alfred (born 28 July 1887) emigrated to America in 1888.
Their address in Harlesden was 156, High Street.
Would be glad of any information about this family.

George and Emma Moody with whom Sarah is resident in 1881 are my 3 x great grandparents. Mary Ann Moody nee Pickworth died at Felly/Moorgreen Notts and her husband remarried. He is on the 1881 census with a new wife and some children from the first marriage. I havent the reference handy but one of the sons was Dixon and so if you have the 1881 census or access to it you will find him. I dont know where Sarah went after George and Emma died. My connection is through Lydia Moody, daughter of George and Emma and who married John WALKER at the Wesley chapel in Clasketgate Lincoln in 1857. The Walker family had a picnic here in New Zealand in February this year. Over 200 persons present. I would love to tell you about it.
Margaret Staples nee WALKER , born 1932

Hi there, I am seeking any information relating to the Pickworth family who moved to Ilkeston from Lincolnshire circa 1873. Head of the family was Charles and his wife's name was Caroline. They had some ten children and all of the males had some connection with a coal mine (possibly Woodside). Charles was my Great Grandfather. Seeking photographs if possible. The family all appear to have lived in and around Norman St initially.
Dear Candi, Newton is an interesting part of
the names of your ancestors who most likely
come originally from Lincolnshire in England.
My advice is to get a copy of the birth certificate of your grandfather as it should list his parents. I have Newton Pickworths born in 1838 (in Colsterworth), 1840 (Thorpe-on-the-Hill), 1844 (Pinchbeck), 1861 and 1892 (both St. Pancras, London). I do not know if they are related or not. I can look up how to get copies of the birth certificate but I have to rush to work now. Do you have any idea when your family went to SA? Regards Jenny

All
indexes of birth, marriage and death registers in South Africa are kept at the Department of Home Affairs. The
facilities, files and records are not open to the public and researchers. You may apply in writing to get copies of
these certificates but you must provide full names with date and place of event. There is a fee payable. People
living outside South Africa, should make their requests through their nearest South African embassy / consulate /
High Commission. Always request a FULL certificate.

I got this off the web. If you are in London go to the consulate there and ask what you have to do. Otherwise you could write to the Department of Home Affairs, 242 Struben Street, Private Bag X114, Pretoria 0001, SA.
You may have trouble because you do not know a place. Do you know anything about where the marriage or death occurred? If you can go back a bit then I could possibly tie it up to the family trees I have. I will research some more.
Best of luck.
