Ford family in Piedmont, Quebec, Canada

Her name was Mary - of French descent, b. abt 1815 married c. 1838 to English born Henry Ford who had relatives in OHIO, USA; they had 5 children in Canada before moving to the States about 1850, dont know religion; should be census; birth certs, possibly land purchases or sales as Henry was a wealthy man owning land worth $10.000 in Michigan and rearing 11 children in Ionia Co, Michigan. I need help as I do not know Canada. According to my maps, Piedmont seems to be a small town/twp in the Bonneterre area of Montreal, Quebec Province. I need names and dates of Mary's parents and sibs.

I was mistaken about the reference to William Piemont. The reference in a letter written in 1849 is to "Virginia Piemont" who was "coming from Richmond." She must have been a cousin to the Thomas Piemont family. If you can connect Virginia Piemont with William Piemont, that would seem to indicate that Thomas and William Piemont were related.

Thank you for your interesting reply. I know nothing of Thomas Piemont's ancestors. He married Elizabeth Robinson, daughter of Benjamin Robinson and Hannah Churchill. They had three children--Robinson Piemont, Elizabeth C. Piemont who married the Rev. Philip Taliaferro, and Alice Amanda Needler Piemont who married Prof. David Duncan. I did not know she was a ward of the court. I have seen a reference to a will of the Rev. Needler Robinson leaving some money to the "three children of his deceased sister Elizabeth," so perhaps they both died. My grandmother said there was a family tradition that Thomas Piemont was a "Yankee Peddler." I have a silhouette of him. As for William Piemont, I think there may be a reference to him in some old letters written by my great-great grandmother. I will have to check. I have some correspondence from Robinson Piemont. I will look further for William and contact you again.

I know of Thomas of Kent County. My quest is of Wm Piemont who was born in France, came into Virginia around 1820, married in 1823, and lived in Richmond. I would be very interested in learning what you have on Thomas and what happened to cause Amanda to become a ward of the court.
