I am looking for information on James Pierson b. 1848 in NY, possibly around Lockport. He was married to Martha R.A. Conley who was born in Buffalo NY, 1846. They married in Michigan in 1881 and had a son, Edward Pierson b. 1881.
They also have 2 daughters born in 1865 and 1867. Melissa and Louisa. I am looking for any info on James Pierson, what line he came from. Thank you if you respond.

William/John Pearson KY/MO/KS

I'm researching William Pearson son of John (I think). Best I can determine John is from Ireland b 1825. William (M or N) married Mary (Mollie) Elizabeth Standlee in 1886. She is from Arkansas, married in Arkansas. He is listed on the marriage license as living in Carr, Stone County, Missouri. William N/M's mother Sarah Tillery remarried a Reynolds.

William and Mollie had the following children:
John M 1888
Erda Mae 1897 - 1939 (had a daughter Marcia M 1918-1940) Married Thomas O Henderson both buried in Columbus KS (Cherokee County)
Claude B 1901
Olin D 1906 - 1977 (also lived in/buried in Columbus)

Looking to clarify further family ties, information etc. Curiosity is that WN Pearson married and another William M Pearson signed the certificate as a witness (at least I think it's a different signature)

I tend to agree with you. Stephen. Its the same logic structure behind my own premise that Henry's son Theodore Pierson's wife ffrances was Frances. Stansborough. The christening records show that Frances was a daughter, not a son like a lot of the indexes show. That with their residential proximity, match of age, burial proximity, and lack of other recorded fate of Frances stansburough, in my mind create a preponderance of "suggestion"

I am ariving at this dance rather late, but the evidence is very clear that Mary Cooper, who, thanks to Wyborough Griggs. was a half-sister to Henry Pierson, is enough to convince me that at least that part of the debate is settled. There were not that many people around in those days, and I must say that Mary Fuller must be considered more than a "person of interest" and is the prime suspect. I am a lawyer and I think that if a "preponderance of the evidence standard is applied, one would be justified in concluding that Mary Fuller became the wife of Henry. If the more stringent standard of "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" is used then Ms. Fuller needs strong inferential evidence -- stronger than presently exists -- to be found "guilty" of being Henry's wife. Since marriages and such are civil matters, I am using the "preponderance" standard and Mary Fuller will remain in my tree as the wife of Henry until better and more convincing evidence to the contrary is found.

I've done a good amount on my Miller branch but I am unfamiliar with those names. A lot of my research was done at the Morristown Library which has a lot of Miller info. Initially, I tracked the Millers through property deeds at the Morris County Clerk's Office. that was very worth while. Montville has a small historical museum that was/is open on Sundays. i haven't been there in a few years. the woman who ran it was Kathy. they had some Miller info but the Morristown library had more. Miller is a common name and I got lucky at the deeds office. Best wishes

Hi, Mike, I think it is- I just read the thread for this post. I had done a search for Millers in Morris County, NJ, 1800s- so that tells you that I am interested in the Miller part of your post. I am seeking more info on the parents of my William Henry Garret Miller, born 1829 in NYC. His Civil War military pension papers give his parents as John Miller and Ellen/Else, from Montville, NJ. (I believe that was Morris County, or still is?) So, even though Wm. H. G. Miller was born NYC, there are Morris Co, NJ ties. It's been awhile since I've worked on this line, but am speaking to a cousin today, and was trying to unearth more info. Years ago, I went to the NJ State Archives and researched every MILLER will on the Morris County, NJ list, that they have on microfilm with no success. I was basically wondering how much research you had done on the MILLER part of this couple. (I did see you had Elizabeth's father, in one of your posts.)PS Years ago, I also found a John Miller/Ellen DAWSON marriage in NYC, on a Salt Lake City microfilm, right time frame. That one looked promising as John and Ellen/Else's first child was John Dawson Miller.

Specifically, what happened to her sister Helen after 1930 and anything on you gf John J. Sheridan - I don't see him after 1939. Nor could I find him in 1900.

Regards,

John Moreland

Unfortunately, I, like so many others, do not have access to this book nor do I have access to any research libaries, thus unable to see the "rationale" for going with a Mary Fuller as the wife of my Henry Pierson. I need more than rationale to prove ancestry, not some interpretation of some legal dealings, deeds, etc. I have run into this so often during years of research (and still do) that have ended up steering people in the wrong direction and with incorrect ancestries. (One case in point: Mary Cooper/Henry Pierson).

Hello fellow Pierson family ancestors,
I am researching the Pierson line also my father is Marcus son of Earl Lorenzen, son of Hallick F, son of Silas Crowell Pierson and Elsie Wintermute, son of Jonathan and Pebe Crowell Pierson, here is were I get lost. Like others do not see the proof in who Jonathan's father is? since most sites just list a name and the birthdate matches partly. Silas was born in 1807. Jonathan possibly 1782 think I found Jonathans grave on Findagrave.com his wife Phebe and Silas and Elsie and some of there children are burried at Harker Cemetery in Iowa. Any shared info would be appreciated. email chlega01@hotmail.com Thanks
I am trying to find where Harriet E. Pierson is buried. She was born 4-12-1860 in Iowa and died 4-5-1901. I believe in Kansas, last census I have she was in Phillips Co. Kansas in 1900. She had 2 children a boy and a girl. Was married to Walter S. Pierson, her cousin. Can not find where Walter is buried either, he died before 1895. Would be interested in anyone related to this family. Harriet is my great grandmother's sister. She had a son named Wilmer George, have found him and his wife and child's grave. Have not been able to find his sister Lina's grave or the parents. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Joseph Pierson (b. 20 Sep 1749) mysteries

I'm looking for help resolving some mysteries involving Joseph Pierson (b. 20 Sep 1749, d. May 1827).

The first mystery is I haven't been able to pin down the exact date of his marriage to his second wife (Charlotte McKee m. abt 1782) because no documentation can be found, only internet stories. Depending on what source you look at, the marriage occurred in either 1790 or 1782. Based on the birth dates of the children born of Ruth, I feel the 1782 date is the more correct, although it could really have been anytime before Charlotte's first born Ruth in 1787.

The next mystery is that I cannot locate any data on his first wife, only that he had one. He apparently had two children by this wife, Abram (b. 1782) and John Joseph(b. 1785). John Joseph's birth date is after the 1782 date for his fathers marriage to Charlotte, so either the birth date is wrong, the date for Joesph and Charlotte's marriage is wrong, or Joesph had a fling with his ex-wife while married to Charlotte.

I suspect the truth is that Joseph and Charlotte actually married sometime between the birth of John Joseph in 1785 and Charlotte's first, Ruth, in 1787. The trouble is, I can't prove it.

So if anyone can provide any insight into 1) Joseph's first wife or 2) The actual marriage date of Joseph and Charlotte I would be very grateful.

Of other interest is I discovered today that the school at Peters Creek, Nicholas County, West Virginia was not Joesph's first or only teaching position. He previously taught for two months at Big Run school in Frametown, Braxton, Virginia. (http://www.wvculture.org/HISTORY/agrext/frametwn.html)

I am descended from Joseph by his son Hiram (b. 1810) --> David (b. 1832) --> George C. (1859) --> Claude B (1901). Claude was my great grandfather.

Thanks,

Roger Pierson

I've run across the marriage to Catherine Haynes before, but info you provided about the children and later HOH records was very helpful, thank you!

I am a decedent of Joseph Pierson (b. 1746) & Charlotte Mckee, through their son Hiram Pierson (b. 1810) and his wife Ruth Nutter.

Hiram & Ruth's son Jonathan B. Pierson (1832) and his wife Mary Brown gave birth to George C. Pierson (1859) who married Amanda King.

Their child Claude B. Pierson (1901) was my great grandfather.

The mystery I've been trying to solve today is to find proof of the marriage date between Charlotte McKee and Joseph Pierson. I am unable to find any official documentation. Also, I can find no hint of the name of Joeseph's first wife.

- Roger

I would certainly be interested in anything you find on this family.
I believe my ggggrandfather,John Pierson(born 1776 to 1790 depending on what census you're looking at),is the son of Joseph Pierson with unknown first wife, his second wife being Charlotte McKee. In 1840 John is HOH in Fountain Co.,Indiana. They probably both died in Wapello Co., Iowa.
Their children were
Joseph born 1800-1810 married Jane Kingen. They lived in Marion Co., Indiana.
son born 1810-1820 probably Jonathan of Fountain Co., Indiana
Elizabeth born 1819 m. William Ware
Hannah born 1822 m.
There turns out to be a lot of Piersons in the New York / New Jersey area. As of yet, I have not been able to establish a link with any of them. I would love to though, because there is a fantastic amount of information about them available.

If you haven't already, I suggest you take a look at this page:

http://www.archive.org/stream/piersongenealogi00pier/pierson...

Lizzie B. Pierson compiled that text of Pierson genealogy in 1870, and it is full of good information.

If you prefer, the actual book the above site was transcribed from is available as a free Google Ebook:

http://books.google.com/books?id=3GVJAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA9&amp...

The text at the first link is searchable, the ebook is not.

- Roger

I'm running into a black hole once I reach John Pierson. All I know is what is in this popular story:

According to the traditional biography of the Pierson families, two brothers, Jonathan and John Pierson migrated from England and settled in Philadelphia. A great plague visited the city (probably the yellow fever epidemic of 1754) and John and his wife died, leaving two small sons, John and Joseph. Taking his two nephews, Jonathan Pierson went to New York State, where they lived for some years. John and Joseph grew to manhood and wanted to leave New York. John went to Maryland and Joseph to the western part of Virginia.

I have a reasonable amount of data on his sons, but I cannot find anything on his parents. He may have had relatives in the original Penn colony that came over before him.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Again, helpful to have location on a query like this, makes it better for people to connect to.

You ever find anything more on Daniel and Deborah?

Has anyone seen documentation of this marriage? I have come across a marriage with these 2 names, but no date to identify which Daniel this is. Would love to know where to find information/documentation of this. Elizabeth
