So it all does make some sense. Frank must have moved back home with his Father after the divorce. You can check our my tree (Pigeon Lanser Family Tree) online at ancestry.com. I have tried to update it with information on Frank and the rest of his family.

It certainly does make sense. Their daughter was born 1906 and from that point forward I find Tilly and her daughter Beata living with her mother.

Thank you for the marriage date. Also for the name of his father and sister.

Kayser family was in Milwaukee in 1922 (at least for a Christmas gathering).

I am now almost certain that Tilly Kayser married Frank Pigeon. I found a marriage record for Tilly Kayser and Frank Pigeon, both with a marriage date of September 16, 1901 (in the Green Bay area). This must be them.

I also found a 1920 census record for Ward 4 in Green Bay, that listed Frank J. Pigeon as living with his father - Peter Pigeon - and sister - Mary Pigeon. Peter was widowed; Mary was single; and Frank was divorced.

Does any of this make sense to you?

You're welcome. Now that I know his name was Frank, I'm guessing it would be easier to find out more about his ancestors and descendants. If you're certain he came from Green Bay, that should make it easier too. I'd search for Frank, Francois, Francis, etc., with a birth date in the 1870's or 1880's as a starting point.

I don't show any male Pigeon's married to a Matilda Kayser in my tree, but it could be any number of males for which I don't have complete information. From my research, the Pigeon's in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area all originated from Pierre Joseph Pigeon, Sr. (1809-1870) and Anne-Marie Martin (1810-1892). They had the following children:

Zenon (my branch)
Jeanne Josephe Sidonie
Henrietta
Adele
Desire Jean Baptiste
Pierre Joseph Pigeon, Jr.
Marie Rosalie

My guess is that your Pigeon is buried somewhere in the descendants of either Desire Jean Baptiste or Pierre Joseph Jr. If you can find any other clues for me, I will dig some more.

Joe Pigeon

Regis Pigeon Mystery

Hi everyone,

I was looking for some assistance. regarding my ancestor Regis Pigeon and his marriages.

I have evidence of three wives based on marriage and baptismal records for his children, but I can only find hard evidence of two marriages.

Here is what I know based on church records.

1. My ancestor Phillippe Brunelle married Malvina Pigeon (believed to be Marie Malvina Pigeon) on 20 Feb 1871 in saint Francois Xavier de Shefford. Her parents are listed as Regis Pigeon and Marie Bruebon of St. Polycarpe Parish. <-- this is the marriage in question.

I have marriage records for Regis' two wives. He was first married to Catherine Brabant at an unknown date but she died in 1853. He then married Florence Lamarre in 1854. Both marriages took place in St. Polycarpe Parish.

The baptismal record for Malvina indicates her mother as Catherine Brabant, not Marie Bruebon.

Is anyone aware of an error in the marriage record indicated in paragraph one? I can find no evidence that Catherine Brabant's full name was Marie Catherine Brabant. I suspect it might be, but I cannot confirm it.

If you have any information that might help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Respectfully,
Keith Mageau

I have family that also traces back to Julia and Patrick Pigeon. I had found a census record from Marathon listing a Sarah C- about 14 yrs old in 1900. Sarah would have been a younger sister of my gg-grandmother. There was a Sadie St. Austin, but she was a daughter of my gg-grandmother born in approx 1902. Hope that helps.

Thomas Pigeon may have been born on Allumette Island where his father was born.

And it turns out that Florence (called Flora) Chapeskie was born in Ontario. She spoke with a Polish accent because she lived all her life in the Polish community in the Wilno area. Eventually, she and Thomas had the farm next to the Regan farm, which is how Alexander and Anne met.

In 1737 Isaac Pigeon received permission from New Garden Meeting, Chester Co. PA to return to Ireland for a visit to Grange Meeting near Charlemont, County Armagh (Northern) Ireland. He returned married in 1740. He is not my ancestor; however, he was a friend of my 5th g-g-father, Philip Ward, who I am having trouble placing in Ireland. Help, anyone?

Re: Peter Pigeon of Brown County, WI

I also have a great deal of information on the Pigeon family.

You are correct that Peter was the son of Zeno (Zenon) Pigeon, who was married to Marie Josephe Virginie (Virginia) Veckman (or sometimes spelled Vickman or even Wickman). Peter and Agnes' grave is located in Allouez Cemetery - I have a photo of it if you'd like.

Zeno was the son of Pierre (Peter) Pigeon who was the original Pigeon to emigrate from Belgium (near Archennes and Grez Doiceau in the Brabant Wallon Province). Pierre was married to Anne-Marie Martin (who was also from near Grez Doiceau). I have a PDF copy of the deed to the land Pierre purchased in the Town of Humboldt, which was purchased in 1858. I also have a copy of Anne-Marie's gravestone (as well as Zeno's), which are both located in the St. Killian Cemetery in Scott Township, Brown County, Wisconsin.

Pierre was the son of Andre Pigeon and Antoinette Flemal. Both died and were buried in Belgium, presumably in the Archennes area. I was in Belgium in 2004 and had an opportunity to quickly look for their graves, but was unable to find them.

Andre is the son of Francois Pigeon and Marie-Anne Lurquin. Again, they are presumably buried in the Archennes/Grez Doiceau area of the Brabant Wallon province in Belgium.

I can provide more information if anyone is interested. Just let me know.

Joe

Some of my Pigeon family tree were in Crystal Lake, Benzie, Michigan in the 1870s and 1880s before moving on to Chicago and Wisconsin, respectively, but that's the lower pennisula. They emigrated from Canada in 1865.

I am doing genealogical research on my family. My grandfather was Walter Pigeon and my grandmother was Marie or Maria (not sure which). They settled somewhere on the upper michigan peninsula. I found Pigeon on the Native American rolls in that area, which is interesting. I would love to know any and all information about how Pigeon became Pidgeon and any information at all, especially if there is any connection to the Pigeons in Upper Michigan peninsula. Please let me know!
