Hi My name is Wendy RYALLS and I am a descendant of Noah PINCHES through his second marraige to Eliza RYALLS. Their eldest child Isaac PINCHES(who was raised by Eliza's mother Sarah RYALLS) was my great granfather. Isaac took the name RYALLS sometime between 1891 and 1901. Isaac emigrated to New Zealand with his wife following his three sons who had emigrated before him. I am currently attempting to find out a bit more about Noah PINCHES Isaac's father. Does anyone doing research into this family have any certificates for Noah PINCHES?

Hi Tim,
I have just come across your queery dated June 2009. There are lots of Pinches families in Shropshire. There are instances of the name Pinches all over England and also in N.E. Scotland. However, the bulk of the families come from Shropshire. My own family (Pinches)are based in Chester, Cheshire. We are descended from one, Jeremiah Pinches, who was born in Shrewsbury (Shropshire)in 1754. He made his way to Chester, where he married in 1776. He started a hairdresser's business in Chester. There are Pinches families all over America. Do your family originate in the UK?, if so do you know from where? Hope this gives you the impetus to search further into your family history. Who knows, we may be related. I have recently been communicating with another Pinches (who is the descendent of one of the sons' of my 3xGt. grandfather),who will shortly be emigrating to New Zealand. I did a plain old Google search and a historical copy of a Toronto newpaper gave some good information . It was a notive of soldiers deaths and Arthur's was their. It gave his survivor in Canada as his father , Charles living at 187 Garfield Avenue in London , Ont.

Una LONG and Arthur W PINCHES

Una Pinches nee Long was born in Edmonton,London,England 1920.
She married Arthur W Pinches in England 1943 and left for Canada on 02/08/1947 on Aquitania bound for Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her parents Harold Raymond and Emily E Long followed her to Canada on 10/07/1956 on the Arosa Kulm landing in Quebec. It is assumed that Arthur Pinches was a Canadian serviceman stationed at least in part in England during WW2 and made Una a war bride in 1943.
I have considerable information about the Long family in England but none about Una and her family in Canada. Any help with info. about the family will be greatly appreciated.

I saw that you were interested in Richard Henry Hodson originally from Wigan, Lancashire England
I hope the information I have on him is some use to your researches.
Richard Henry was a distant relative of mine his grandmother Margaret Molyneux was my 4 x gt grandfathers sister she was born in Upholland near Wigan in 1807 and died in 1867 she married Robert Hodson in 1826 and had several children one of whom was Robert born 1839 and died in 1872 in a work accident he married Emma Green and their eldest son Richard Henry was born in Wigan in 1859 he married Nancy Pinches at the Register Office Wigan in 1883 and they subsequently emigrated to America.
Richard Henrys mother re married to a Mr. Myers I dont know if they also emigrated or not. Richard Henry had just one younger brother Thomas Hodson but I havent much information on him. I have quite a lot of information I can share if you want to get in touch.

Hi,
I noticed your post regarding Thomas Richard Pinches. I was wondering how he came to be in Chester, Cheshire. His father was indeed in the Royal Artillery. Thomas Richard married Mary Annie Le Gee on 1st May 1883, in St John the Baptist church in Chester, Cheshire. By this time his father was deceased. Thomas Richard was an Iron Moulder by trade. I have found three children (1)Thomas Le Gee Pinches
born 29/11/1883 (2) Albert Leonard Pinches, Baptised 14/6/1885 and (3) Alicia Annie Pinches, baptised 25/2/1887.
i don't know whether they belong to my family, but it is possible. I am concentrating on the direct line from myself via my father, so I haven't become sidetracked yet.
I have found Thomas Richard, in Manchester in the 1901 Census. What is your interest, if any in the Pinches/Pinchers families? I would be interested to know.

I am searching for any information concerning RICHARD and his wife LETITIA (name prior to marriage unknown). I know that they moved from Shrewsbury, Shropshire in the 1750's. They had three sons that I know of, they were RICHARD(died in infancy),CHARLES (also died in infancy) and JEREMIAH who was my 4xgt grandfather, born 17th July 1754 in the parish of St.Chad in Shrewsbury. Jeremiah became a Hairdresser in Chester and remained in this trade until the late 1790's when for some reason he became a Mariner. If anyone has any info. regarding this family I would be glad to hear from you.

I am looking for any information concerning RICHARD Pinches
and his wife LETITIA. I believe he may have been born in the parish of St Chad in Shrewsbury Shropshire c1730. He moved to Chester, Cheshire c 1753. He had a son RICHARD and also a son JEREMIAH who is my 4 X Gt Grandfather, who was a barber in Chester until the latter tears of the 18th century. He later became a mariner. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who thinks that they may have any information regarding RICHARD or his wife LETITIA.

Amy Pinches b. 1881 Upper Penn Staffordshire?

Hello there,

I am trying to find out more about my great grandmother Amy Pinches. At the moment all I know is that she was born around 1881 in Upper Penn Staffordshire. However, I have some relatives who know soemthing about her and there seems to be some division as to whether she was born in Upper Penn or Radcliffe Manchester. It is agreed that she did spend some time in Radcliffe at some point though and I have found an Amy Pinches born in Upper Penn on the 1901 census who was visiting a family as a nurse in Radcliffe. At some point after this she went (back?) to Upper Penn where she married my great grandfather Alfred Lewis (of whom I know nothing about) and had 8 children, Annie, Jack, Jim, Ethel, Alfred, Amy, Ken and my grandmother Margaret Ruby. The family ran a newsagent in the Bradmore area. Amy Pinches died at around the age of 56 around 1935. Looking at the 1881 census Amy Pinches had parents called Edward Charles and Ann Langston and siblings called Annie, Edward, Jane, Mary, Susan and William.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? I think I have found the correct Amy Pinches on the census because I was told before I begun this research that she spent time, or was born, in Radcliffe and lived in Upper Penn. If it is any further help my grandmother married Jack Seale in 1940 and had two children, Jane and Morton.

Emanuel Pinches was born Abt. 1838 in Near West Bromwich, England, and died June 1874 in Wigan Distict, England. He married Hannah Thompson December 1858 in West Bromwich, England, daughter of Thompson. She was in West Bromwich.
