Pinder family ST Pancras/Marylebone/Middlesex

I looked through all the Pinder messages - and none match my branch of Pinders who were residing around Islington, St Pancras, Kentish Town, Clerkenwell, Marylebone in North London. The county is Middlesex.

Would love to hear from any descendants of Thomas and Sarah Pinder (B1801 & 1806), and their children, Thomas (1821), Robert James (1828), Alexander (1829), Isabella (1834), Henry Francis (1838) - this is my line (My GGG Grandfather).

Several Pinders are interred at St Pancras cemetery. Over time, some migrated east eg, my great grandmother lived at Romford for most of her life.

But between 1800 and 1900, they seem to have been quite settled in the above mentioned areas. I can find no connection to Pinders from Yorkshire or elsewhere.

Looking for a Bahamas Pinder

Hi! I have a dead end which ends in the Bahamas. My 3rd great grandfather Ridley Pinder was born in 1838 in the Bahamas. Does anyone have a contact in the Bahamas who might be able to help me track him down? The closest I've come is another Pinder of the same first name who is listed on the Slave Registers of former British Colonial Dependencies in 1834, possibly his father or uncle, but Ridley was such a prominent family name in that branch that it could have been a third cousin.

He married Mary Ann Thompson, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Margaret Wall Thompson. He emigrated to Key West and on to Miami in 1854. She was possibly married to Charles Milliard before Ridley and had three sons by him and four sons (William, Walter Joseph, Herman Hilton (Hilton being another common Pinder name), and Robert Wood) by Ridley. Can anyone help me? Ridley was a Seaman (of course) and a painter, and one or more of his sons and grandsons were cigar makers. His son Herman Hilton married Annie Elizabeth Ranger, daughter of Capt. Robert Henry Ranger II and Mary J. Turner who later married John E. Sands. Robert Ranger and his father, Senior, were born in the Bahamas in 1848 and circa 1820, respectively. I have been researching this dead end of mine, Ridley, for about 6 years and would be happy to contribute to someone else's own research fund for help in tying him discreetly to a branch of the Pinder tree.

Erin

Hi ... I'm sure you've probably found this by now, but I came across Theophilus Pinder in the 1860 census. Looks like he was living with Louisa Sanders, both born in the Bahamas - he in about 1840 and she in 1850. He was living on the same street as my gggrandfather Jabez Pinder, also born in the Bahamas in 1839. I wondered if perhaps they were brothers. Take care, Kim Bowers

I do know that he was a musician (duh look at the rest of us)and that he also wrote under the alias of "Rednip" which of course is his name spelled backwards. Don't know anything more but I'd like to if you find anything else out.

I have found a birth for a Cyril to a Ruth Pinder who was listed as a domestic servant in Hackney Workhouse Union. I cannot confirm this is his mother as I can find no trace of her. There are a couple of Ruth's but they came from Lancs, and Lincs. They are probables but I can't find a Ruth closer to London area.

Can anyone help?
Thanks
Jackie

PINDER, John J. Jr., Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, WW II

PINDER, JOHN J., JR.

Rank and organization: Technician Fifth Grade, U.S. Army, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. Place and date: Near Colleville-sur-Mer, France, 6 June 1944. Entered .service at: Burgettstown, Pa. Birth: McKees Rocks, Pa. G.O. No.: 1, 4 January 1945. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty on 6 June 1944, near Colleville-sur-Mer, France. On D-day, Technician 5th Grade Pinder landed on the coast 100 yards off shore under devastating enemy machinegun and artillery fire which caused severe casualties among the boatload. Carrying a vitally important radio, he struggled towards shore in waist-deep water. Only a few yards from his craft he was hit by enemy fire and was gravely wounded. Technician 5th Grade Pinder never stopped. He made shore and delivered the radio. Refusing to take cover afforded, or to accept medical attention for his wounds, Technician 5th Grade Pinder, though terribly weakened by loss of blood and in fierce pain, on 3 occasions went into the fire-swept surf to salvage communication equipment. He recovered many vital parts and equipment, including another workable radio. On the 3rd trip he was again hit, suffering machinegun bullet wounds in the legs. Still this valiant soldier would not stop for rest or medical attention. Remaining exposed to heavy enemy fire, growing steadily weaker, he aided in establishing the vital radio communication on the beach. While so engaged this dauntless soldier was hit for the third time and killed. The indomitable courage and personal bravery of Technician 5th Grade Pinder was a magnificent inspiration to the men with whom he served.

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

BURIAL INFORMATION

Location: Burgettstown, Pennsylvania
Cemetery: Grandview Cemetery

Born: 1912 at McKees Rocks, PA

Died: 1944 Killed in Action -- Awarded Posthumously.

Source, additional information and cemetery monument photo:

http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/states/pages_pz/pinde...

Note: This is not my ancestry.
William Pinder & Alice Tatum marriage London or surrounding

I am trying to discover details of a marriage between William Pinder and Alice Tatum between 1890 and 1910.

If Alice married at an early age, perhaps as young as 15, the marriage year would have been about 1890 (William would have been aged 25). Their son, James Frederick Pinder, perhaps one of many children, was born in 1910, so this provides a 20 year period for a possible marriage year.

There are no firm clues as to the parishes where William and Alice were born or married, but I have some unverified evidence that these events might have been in London or surrounding counties, such as Surrey, Essex, Middlesex or Hertfordshire.

I have the following vital source documents:

William Pinder died 1935, aged 70, in Billericay, Essex (born abt. 1865).
Alice [nee Tatum] Pinder died 1941, age 66, in Billericay, Essex (born abt.1875)
Birth certificate of their son, James Frederick Pinder: b. Maldon, Essex in 1910.

Any information from anyone who has knowledge of this family group will be gratefully received.

Thank you ~ Geoff Scott

Seek information on ancestors and descendants of Richard Pinder (Pindar, Pyndar) and Prudence Burges, who married 1 Jun 1656 at St. Michael Parish, Barbados. He is, presumably, the Richard Pinder who authored some pamphlets well known among Quakers, including one 1660 pamphlet condemning slavery on the island of Barbados. Interested also in the June Pinder, b. 14 Sep 1701, St. Michael Parish, probably their granddaughter by son John, who takes as her second husband Capt. John Webb, m. 11 Jul 1717 at St. Michael.

Only one Albert Pinder, miner, in 1901 census, aged 30, b. Warmfield, Kirkthorpe, and family living at Sandal Magna, coal miner and hewer. Wife Betsy, 25; Alice 3; Albert 3 months. There is only one Albert Pinder in the 1881 census that fits this entry. Son of Joseph and Ellen, Newland Lane, Warmfield cum Heath. Was this Albert junior the father of Ivy b.c.1919 (where/who was her suggested mother Mary?) or late child of Albert and Betsy? There is a marriage of Albert Pinder to Betsy Firth, Wakefield, March quarter, 1898, 9c/71. This 1881 Betsy Firth is the only family linked to a Warmfield? Kirkthorpe is now part of Wakefield and Warmfield within walking distance. Any advice appreciated. Les Hewett, napier, New Zealand.

Hi Mathew,

I ran across an old posting of yours on RootsWeb.com. I have some Pinder information that you may not have.

The 1900 Census shows Almira Pinder (39) living with her son Paul (6) at 323 Elizabeth Street. They are living with my great-grandfather Richard Roberts, his second wife Elizabeth, her two children from a previous marriage, his son (my grandfather) Charles Roberts and his wife Bertha (my grandmother).

My mother told me that Almira Pinder was Richard Roberts' daughter, and that she married Paul Pinder, and that they later moved to Jacksonville.

I was born and raised in Key West, and I was in the KWHS class of 1957. There was a Clark Pinder who was in the class of 1956 (I think), and he had a brother named Joe who was a few years younger. Are you related to either one of them?

Hopes this helps.

Glenn
