Some trees say John Pinner's father is John Pinner, then John Pinner again but I don't have any sources.
My line runs through David Pinner, b. 1834. His daughter, Laura m. Emsley Jackson b.1861. Emsley's father was Emsley Jackson,Sr, b.1816. I have found trees that say Emsley Sr's father is William Jackson who m. Caty Lucarbille but I can't find any documentation to prove it. Some say William's father is Joseph Jackson who m. Sarah Kirkman. Still, I have no proof. Do you know anything about this link?

Re: Florida Pinners---New Info need help!

Okay so I have stumbled across some info that sort of untangles all this mess I have but....there's still an underlying question on Nancy MOODY...and her husband, whom I think is one Christopher Chancey (b. 1829 in Screven, GA).

I found a family that contained Nancy and Jeremiah Moody and lo and behold, that Nancy Moody was listed as having married one Christopher Chancey (this coming from LDS I was happy, but cautious and looking for confirmation elsewhere). Only there was no more info on Christopher.

Just last night I discovered some posts here that suggest that Christopher Chancey married a Nancy RAULERSON. I thoguht little of it---must be a different Chancey, in the same time, in the same place in Georgia I was looking for. But then the children listed matched with what I had for Christopher Chancy and Nancy MOODY!

Can anyone out there there clear this up? Do I have the same Nancy and children, only the wrong last name (again??)? This branch is one of my brick walls I've been working on for a decade now and I can almost taste the solution...it's got to be close but I'm just not seeing it.

Here's line, such as it is, with my latest info:

1-Christopher CHANCY--or Chauncey---(1829-3 March 1863)
+Nancy MOODY---or Raulerson---(1832-October 1915)
. . . . 2-William Riley CHANCY (1858-4 November 1868)
. . . . 2-Jeremiah CHANCY (1858-25 November 1868)
. . . . 2-Isabel CHANCY (1858-6 August 1884)
. . . . 2-Elizabeth CHANCY (1859-after 1889)
. . . . +Arthur A. PINNER (1849-)
. . . . . . . . 3-Anna PINNER (-May 1969)
. . . . . . . . 3-Erastus PINNER (27 November 1879-1955)
. . . . . . . . 3-William PINNER (31 May 1881-1920)
. . . . . . . . 3-Limuel PINNER (5 August 1885-1957)
. . . . . . . . 3-Jesse PINNER (19 November 1887-1952)
. . . . . . . . 3-George PINNER (1 November 1889-24 March 1920)

Limuel Pinner was my great-grandfather. His daughter Josephine Elizabeth married my grandfather James Albert Vaught. My grandmother was named for her mother. My question remains, what was *her* mother's name? Moody or Raulerson?

thanks for any help or suggestions!!!

Steve Vaught

Florida Pinners---New Info need help!

Hi all,

I have been trying to untangle the knots in my Pinner line now for close to 10 years. Yesterday I was digging through some old emails and discovered on the LDS records search site that I may have been a bit off.

My line has my grandmother, Josephine Eliz. Pinner, d/o Limuel Pinner, s/o Arthur A. Pinner and Elizabeth GORE...s/o Arthur and Spisa Jane Smith (the famous Cherokee that no one seems to knowm much about)...and on back to the first Arthur in the early 1700s, South Carolina.

Okay, so I discovered the 1850 South Carolina Census has A. Pinner age 28, married to E. Pinner (also age 28) with 1 year old son A. Pinner. So I'm confident this is Arthur and Spisa Jame Smith---except she's listed as "E."??? and their son Arthur A. Pinner. Plus there was a 50 year old woman named "Ms. J. Jackson" living with them at the time of the census. So I'm left with more questions....who the heck is the Jackson lady and why is Arthur's wife called "E."...it should be "S." or "J."....right?

Then I found Arthur A. Pinner again in the 1885 FL state census, listed as Arthur A. Pinner (age 30---which would make him born in 1855, not 1849 like the SC census says) with wife Elizabeth (age 26) and sons Erastus (6 years) and Willie (4 years). William and Erastus were the brothers of my great-grandfather Limuel. The Census was taken 2 August 1885, and Limuel was born 5 August 1885.

I discovered yesterday an unread email I had received about 2 years ago and filed that said Arthur's wife was not Elizabeth GORE (as all my research had said) but that her name was Elizabeth CHAUNCY, whose brother was Jeremiah Moody. Then there was a note that said no, Jeremiah Moody was actually Elizabeth's uncle. He was brother to Nancy Warner. Now, the only thing I can figure from that is that Elizabeth GORE (who was a total dead end) is actually Elizabeth CHAUNCY (or WARNER). For Jeremiah Moody (whoever that is) to be her uncle and brother to a Nancy Warner at the same time, Nancy must have been Moody at birth and married someone named Warner. Problem is, I have no idea what relationship Nancy has other than a)an aunt of Elizabeth or b) Elizabeth's mother. Which means Elizabeth would be WARNER...I have no idea about Chauncy. Which is confirmed by the FL Death record of George Pinner (Arthur A. and Elizabeth's youngest son who died in 1924)---it lists the father as A.A.Pinner and the mother as Elizabeth Warner. Elizabeth Warner was born in Georgia, according to the death record for her son.

I love the LDS records search but sometimes, it just leads to more questions and frustrations. At least I'm still smiling over the discovery.

At any rate, it's a baby step forward into confusion but it's more than I've ever found on Elizabeth GORE/CHAUNCY/WARNER in 10 years. Is there anyone out there that recognizes any of these names and might offer a little nudge in the right direction?

It's nice to hear from you. We corresponded several years ago about this. I used to visit Aunt Minnie and Uncle Fred with my parents when I was a child. I remember the old pictures they had hanging on the wall and had hoped that one of them was a picture of her parents. I would love to know what they looked like. Minnie was the last of Arcena and Thomas' children. My father was very fond of her.

Yes, Arcena was a twin. Her twin was Carsena (and I have seen it spelled Carthenia). Carsena married Joseph Daniel "Joe" Everton.

I only remember meeting your father a few times but I remember Shelburne very well. He visited my parents often when we lived in Norfolk.

Are you by any chance interested in genealogy?

Jean

You were hoping one of us might have a picture of Minnie's parents. I never say a picture of my grandmother's parents, Arceana(sp)Creef & Thomas Owens. I do remember my grandmother, Minnie, telling me that her mother had a twin - Arseana and Carthena Owens were twin sisters. I am Janice May Pinner Johnson and I have a sister Suzanne Pinner Morgan.
Hello! I am Laurel McLain. I am a mother of 3 and had to put my ancestry search on hold for a while. Sorry it has taken me so long to answer! Lulu or Lula as we knew her is my great grandmother. I have birth certificates to prove this. Family legend holds that she was Native American but I have been unable to prove this. I have tried to search for her parents but it has been difficult. There is a possibility that her parents were Thomas and Florence Holder - I have no proof just census records with a child named Lula of the appropriate age living in FL. Lula died when my grandmother Ida Mae was a child. She does not remember much about my grandmothers side of the family. She will be 89 this year. The only things she told me were her mother never had her hair cut - it nearly touched the floor and that she died giving birth to twin girls who were adopted out. Ida Mae was able to find one the twins names Laura and I met her when I was a child. She lived in Starke, FL. This is all of the information I have.

POW/MIA Korean War, PINNER

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Elizabeth City, Virginia as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: FREDERICK DOUGLAS PINNER
Born: July 7, 1927, Caucasian
Date of loss: JUly 26, 1950, Missing in Action (MIA)

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Pinner family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
My great grandfather was Benjamin Pinner, 1842-1905, of south Buncombe Co, NC. I know very little of his family. A deceased aunt once scribbled 'Jonathan Aaron and Jenny' on a paper as the parents of Ben. My granddaddy was Thomas Aaron which could be a connection. I do not have any other record of Jonathan or Jenny. I have seen the names Leander, Hugh, and Burrell in local records and think there could be a relationship. If you have any information about Pinners in WNC I would very much like to hear from you.
Thank you,
Shannon

Researching my ancestors and ran into Richard Pinner, land patent 4/20/1653 Norfolk Co. VA for 150 acres. My ancestor(trying to prove) also had a land patent described same location on Elizabeth River, between 2 main branches of Church Ck. Trying to locate Church Ck. There is a ref to Pinner Point in Portsmouth, also I noticed a Pinners Ave.
Ref is Alice Granbury Walter book for "Land Patents of the counties of Norfolk,Princess Anne, & Warwick ... 1666-1679".

Hi

I have Ada Witcomb marrying Arthur Pinner at:
St Georges, Birmingham UK on	23-Oct	1897

I believe she was daugher of Thomas and Jane [ne Peters] Witcomb of Birmingham, married 1878.

Thomas born about 1848 - son of John & Mary Whitcomb of 7 court 3 house, Kenion St
Birmingham [location in 1851]

John was born in 1825 and I believe he is a son of William Henry Witcomb, a Birmingham Silversmith of Upper Hospital St. [in 1841]

Most later Birmingham Witcombs are in metal working but early ones are stone masons / construction .

Wtcomb spellings are largely irrelevant in Birmingham since IGI info adds "h" or "e" into name but legal docs tend to keep to "Witcomb".

Hope this helps
Chris
I apologize for not getting back to you right away but in July we were on vacation and I must have not gotten a notification of your reply to my posting.

In any event, I do not see a connection to the individuals you have listed. Pinner is not a direct line. Fred S. Pinner married my great aunt Minnie Mae Owens. I knew then both.

I don't have a lot of Pinner information but if you can give me an earlier generation of your line I might be able to help.

Jean

I am sorry to say I don't have them in my data base. I have very little on the Pinner's. My great aunt Minnie Mae Owens married Fred S. Pinner. I have the names of their two boys and that is about the extent of it.

I am hoping one of Minnie and Fred's grandchildren have a picture of Minnie's parents.

Sorry we couldn't help each other.

Jean
Re: Richard Pinner in 1600s VA and MD

Don't know Church Creek, but Elizabeth River is now part of Norfolk, Virginia Beach and/or Chesapeake, Va. You might try locating old maps of the area to confirm the creek; there's a state historical office in Richmond that you can contact. In the meantime, you might find a connection with Charles County, Maryland. Richard Pinner's will was dated there 21 Feb. 1684, leaving estate to wife Mary and daughters Anne and Eliza. The will of Richard's brother William of 10 November 1684 names their mother Anne Attkins as executrix; also wife Rose. Their father Richard Sr. was named as deceased in a deed to William Pinner dated 1 March 1669. Hope this helps.

Hi, Jean,

My grandmother was Mary Walker Pinner. She was born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia. Her parents were Millard Thomas Pinner and Clara Pauline Walker, also of Suffolk. I know a little bit more about the family genealogy on the Pinner side, but have a lot of holes before about 1765. I don't know anything about the Owens. From what little I have given you, can you see a connection between our families? I would be happy to share the Pinner information I have if it is useful to you. Let me know.

Best wishes, Catherine

Wow, I just decided to check out the Pinner board to see if there was anything about my great aunt and uncle Fred S. and Minnie Owens Pinner. I knew both of their sons but could not remember if they had married or had children. I am delighted to find another cousin.

I remember that Aunt Minnie had pictures of her parents, in fact, many pictures adorned their walls. Did you inherit any of these pictures or know what happened to them. I would love to have a copy of my great grandparents, Thomas S. and Martha Arcena Creef Owens.

Please email me. I would love to exchange data.

Jean (Owens) Schroeder
