Hello Nicolas,
I am very interested to find out more regarding the Polain family (my maiden name) as there are quite a few Polains in Australia. From my preliminary research, three male Polains arrived in the 1870s and settled in various parts of Australia. My great grandfather settled in Melbourne (Victoria) and moved to Perth (Western Australia). I believe the other two settled in Adelaide.
I see this is a very old post by you and I do hope you are able to respond,
Kind regards
Yvette Polain

Polain family in Belgium

My name is Nicolas le Polain de Waroux. My Grand-Father, Christian le Polain de Waroux has made extensive research about our family's history and proved that we are from noble descendants. This is way we gained back our title a few years ago and changed our name from POLAIN to LE POLAIN DE WAROUX.

Our family has been located in the surrounding of Liege in Belgium for centuries. It originally owned a castle nearby in a village called WAROUX. The family has been know to Belgian archives from the 11th century and it has been of nobility ever since.

A quick search on the internet shows that there are POLAIN all over the world. Mainly in Belgium but as well in the US, Australia and Brazil.

If anyone is interested to learn more about Polain in Belgium please don't hesitate to contact me.

CLAUDE AND ROBERT POLAIN

Robert Polain was married in St.Matthews Church, Bethnal Green, London in 1764. Claude Polain was born in Picardy, France 1701 and came to England c1723 he settled in Scotland for a short time before finally coming to London, England. All the evidence to link Claude to being the father of Robert is circumstantial. Has anyone been able to make a positive connection?

This family are of Huguenot origins, and I have managed to obtain a fair amount of information about them. However the direct link between Robert and Claude has yet to be established.
