Is the name of the person in Zimbabwe Glen By---? If so we are going round in circles as Glen is my cousin.

Charles was my blood Grand Father. There is quite a story about the family in the 1900's with major problems caused by the destruction of documents by the bombs during the Second World War.

Hello
I am researching Blake on behalf of a friend, and am currently in correspondence with a descendant of Charles Reginald Pollington who lives in Zimbabwe. Would you let me know exactly how you are connected to Charles. I have quite a lot of information about the Pollingtons descended from Lowther and Louisa.
John Holloway

Ellen P.
I'm researching Blake, which includes Pollington as a branch. I've picked up on your query about Kerenhappuch.
The word is Jewish, and she was one of the 3 daughters of Job, all considered to be 'the most beautiful in the land'.
In the hope of getting a little reflected glory perhaps, Victorian mothers often named a daughter after one of the 3, though the most common by far was Kezia. The prologue to 'Tom Brown's Schooldays' refers to 'all the little Kezias' playing on the greens in front of their cottages.
The third was Jemima. I suppose Kerenhappuch was too much of a mouthful for most people - it probably got abbreviated to Kerry ! Another - in my opinion - attractive Victorian name was Dulcibella or, less attractively perhaps, Dousabel. The longer version was often abbreviated to Dulcie, which then became a name in its own right.
John Holloway

Most of my POLLINGTON family come from Norfolk, then to north London (Whetstone/Friern Barnet), Colchester, and possibly Kent. I'm looking right now for any clues that there were POLLINGTONS (maybe Frank and Ernest) in Herne Bay around the time of WWII
