Henry (Harry) Portas

Hi, I`m trying to find out information on the above. Harry was `quite` a guy from what I have learned so far! He was born April 21st 1982 and I think Lincolnshire.
I`m not sure but I Think his father was Joseph and mother Sarah Ann. I apologise if this is not correct!

Harry married a Nellie Hill from Somerset and had a son Edward around 1924.

If any of this rings a bell I would love to hear from you.

Hi! I'm researching about my ancestry. My great-great grandfather was named Thomas Portas, I heard he lived in Holland (i'm not sure if it is in Lincolnshire or in Netherlands). He lived around the 1800s and worked in Asia during the colonial years.

Hi Yvonne,
I wish you had more information on Henry PORTAS. I am sure you meant his birth to be 1882. My database has one Henry b. abt 1880 North Somercotes, Lincs. His death was in 1954 Grimsby. That is the closest to your information. I have no more information except his parents are not Joseph & Sarah Ann.

The only Henry whose parents are J & SA was born about 1890 Withcall, Lincs. But no more information on him either.

Please contact me direct. kglass18@mac.com

Kirsten, have Thomas Portas b. Belchford 5.4.1766 as a son of William Portas and Elizabeth Kent m. 1791???, not Mary, though I also have Mary on the IGI. Our William was the son of Thomas Porthouse 27.1.1711 and Elizabeth Croft 1.1.1713. The children of Thomas/Elizabeth were Mary 6.4.1735, Elizabeth 11.3.1736, John 1737, William 1741, Thomas 9.6.1745, Anne 1746, Martha 18.10. 1751, Sarah 1753, Joseph 11.1.1757, Frances 8.2.1759. Most of the children of William and Elizabeth were born at Belchford, some marrying in Scamblesby. My connection is through Thomas 9.6.1745. Don't know for positive now if Thomas 1766 belongs to us. Can you clear up?

Kristin, I am researching my PORTEOUS roots in Lincs. All three spellings plus a couple more are in my line. Belchford is in the area where my PORTASes hail from. Some of the villages my PORTAS ancestors came from are Mareham le Fen, N. Cockerington, Luborough, Wyham cum Cadeby. Please contact me off line, I would be interested in sharing information to see if we have a connection.

I am looking for any researching the Portas Surname in Lincolnshire. I have a Thomas Portas (born 1766 in Belchford, Linc), the son of WIlliam and Mary Portas. He was a farmer in Mablethorpe and married a Bridget Tyson in 1787 in Willoughby. They had a son prior to marriage in 1780 in Skendleby, Linc by the name of Thomas Tyson. Thomas Tyson was a cordswainer. Would love to find other Linconlnshire Portas' descendents.
- Kristin
