I know this thread is very old know, but I have some good information about finding information for family in El Salvador. www.familysearch.org has images of over 1/2 million civil records from El Salvador for free. just visit their page and search by country and images. I traced my family 3 generations in 2 days...Great tool...and long live the Portillos...

Hi my mom's name is Zulma Campos Portillo and her brother was Walter Campos Portillo, all we know is that she had an aunt named Angelica Portillo and my mom's dad's name was Jose Efrian Portillo. She was seperated from the Portillo family from her mother and only knows that she has a sister name Suyapa Portillo, my uncle died before he could tell my mother anything more about her father's side of the family. My mother was born in San miguel, El Salvador also.

Yes I know who Pancho Villa is. He was a mexican dictator who wanted to over through some else from mexican power. I learned about him in eighth grade social studies you should seerch him up!

Mr. EliIts too bad that I barely read this e-mail of yours elven years after. There are many Portillos in my family but not sure if we are relatives.

My family of teh Portillos (my grandmother's family) came from Santa Ana and lived in Cuidad Arse near Santa Rosa. They descended from a man named Pablo portillo from Honduras and his wife who was the daughter of the Alvarengas from Chalatenango. They had ten children.

I spoke to my Dad about it and he mentioned that your grandfathers name sounded familiar. We have a few Jose De La Luz in our family as well but they are Bustamante. My Dad Asked if your grandparents are from a ranch called El Tule or stright from Parral?

I know this is a year later. I also thought my family was the only Portillo in Sensunte. Probally related. Um what I posted is about all I know about my family. Both my parents were born in Sensuntepeque. Correction to my great grandmothers name. Her name was actually Angelica Amaya. My fathers name is Felipe (aka Jaime), his brothers and sister in no particular order are Roberto, Galelio, Daniel, Eva, and Daisy.
