Re: Portillos/Portillo, Sanchez/Sanches and Gonzales

Candice,
I believe we are related on my grandfather’s side.
My grandma was Marcita (Grine) Portillos from
Miera NM. She married Frank Portillos.
I will get back to you with all the information I
have on Frank Portillos. My uncles have told me
that the “Portillo” came from Venezuela or somewhere in that region.
When our great-great Grandfather came to United States he added an (s) to Portillo so all of his off spring would know who their relatives were in the USA.
His reasoning was that Portillo come from Mexico, Chili, Venezuela and so on. You may know this story better.
I never got to meet my grandfather, he died prior to me being born.
I was raised in Pueblo Colorado so I don’t know my "NM Portillos" relatives other than my mother’s siblings and some of her cousins. I look forward to working with you in discovering our heritage.
Pleased to meet you Prima.
Nanci Gius
Washington, D.C.
Email: ngius@wamu.org

Portillos/Portillo, Sanchez/Sanches and Gonzales

I am from the Portillo/Portillos line also. My great grandfather was Pedro Portillo/Portillos b. May 1865. He married Higina Gonzales b. about 1871. They lived in New Mexico. They had the following children:
1.) Franciso b. Mar 1889 in Miera, Union CO., NM
2.) Emilio b. May 15, 1891 Miera, Union CO., NM
3.)Carlos b. Aug 10, 1892 Union CO., NM
4.) Marieita b. Jan 1900 Union CO., NM
5.) Trinidad b. 1902
6.) Teresita (my grandmother) b. Oct 15,1906 m. Santiago Sanchez Jr.
7.) Baudilio b. 1910 Union CO., NM
8.) Pete b. Nov.20, 1911 in Union CO., NM

I have not been able to go past Pedro or his wife Higinia and I have no names of parents for either one-and am unsure of death dates/places for both. I never knew my grandmother Teresita, and her son-my father, died last year. He had alzheimers and couldn't remember anything. I had just barely gotten his parents names from him a year before the alzheimers took over. If anyone has any information on the aboved named people, it would be greatly appreciated. I have some info on Pedro and Higinia's children, but I would like to find out who Pedro's parents were as well as who Higinia's were. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Candice
