Hello Ladonna,

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but we have mutual relatives. Your grandparents (Uncle Harve & Aunt Verda) were two of my favorites. Uncle Harve was always so funny and made us laugh, and Aunt Verda was so precious. I'm Hank Campbell, son of F.D. Campbell, grandson of T.E. and Katie Porton Campbell. My granny and your grandpa were siblings. I'm just now starting my "digging" around for ancestry information. I have gotten some info from Dock Jones, but I'm stuck on Dave & Mattie Porton. I know there was a Patterson Porton, but I have no info. or dates. I live in North Carolina, and so many of my relatives originated from here when they came to America. My name is LaDonna Porton now Lowrimore, and I live in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. My grandparents were Harve and Verda Porton. They had three sons, my father, Bill Porton, and Elton Porton and Dick Porton. My great grandparents were Dave and Martha Porton. I do not know a Sarah, nor can I recollect ever hearing of her. If you have any further information regarding Sarah, I will be happy to ask if any of my relatives remember her.

I need help from someone who would look in the 1900 census records from Arkansas, probably Crawford County for Sarah Porton. She is listed in the 1910 census record as head of the house and still had 2 of her grown sons living with her. She moved to McCurtain County in Oklahoma in 1911. Any help would be appreciated.

I realize I am answering a very old query, but I hope it finds it's way to you anyway. Dave Edward Porton from Idabel, OK was my Grandfather's half brother. There was another half brother too, and he also lived and died near Idabel. His name was John Joshua Porton. They all had different mothers but the same father. In an old family bible I have, My Grandfather's mother (Sarah Jane McCurty Porton) wrote that she and Patterson Porton were married in 1872. My grandfather's name was Harve Green Porton and he had a full sister named Agnes Porton. My records show that Dave Porton's first wife was Annie Frencesco and they had one daughter - Myrtle (married Melton New). I also have Dave's mother's name - Rachel Angeline Johnson (or Johnston, it is both ways). By now you probably have all kinds of info on this and I would love to share info. My Grandfather was Harve G. Porton and his sister was Agnes Porton. Their mother was Sarah McCarty Porton. They had 2 step brothers - Dave (Mother was Rachel Angeline Johnson) and John (Mother Unknown). They all had the same father and in the family bible I have, Sarah wrote that she and Patterson Porton were married 1872 but does not say where. I can't find any info on Patterson. Have you found out anything? I would be happy to share what I have.
