there are several Johann Pott in my Famaly, orginally located in Mettendorf (RLP) Germany. Its a little Village in the near of Luxemburg.

I have several Nicholas Potts. It was a thing to have one (or more) in each generation. My mom is a Pott and she named my brother Nicholas John to follow tradition. My Potts are from Luxembourg, Nicholas and Elizabeth Mayer married in Utereisenbach, Clervaux (Klerf County), Luxembourg. They arrived in the US in 1868 with 5 children: Margareth (marries Dominic Witry), Nicholas Pierre (dies shortly after arrival in hunting accident), Peter ( marries Margaret Schummes), Mary Catherina (marries Peter Hecht), and Nicholas John ( marries Margaret Mattieu). Any of these sound familiar? Would like additional information if you have any to share. I'll do like wise.

I’m looking fore parents and ancestors of Johanne Dorothea Pott. She is born ca. 1740, was married with Otto Christoph Engelbrecht (1722-1778) and died in Wolfenbuettel on 23. April 1804. Perhaps she was from Ratzeburg or Bremen. I got any information for Pott family from Detmold, Bremen and Halberstadt. I’m glad about information to complete these fragments.

Fred Pott m.Clara Pleester/Plurster 1880 in the Netherlands. They came to America 1892, their children, Carson b.11-15-1886, John? and a Mattie/Margret. They settled in Chicago, then in Michigan,in 1908 moved to Aurora Co,South Dakota.Carsons obit reads that the sister and brother lived in Chicago at the time of his death in 1948.If anyone has info as to Carson's sister or brother, please contact me.Thank you.

Thanks for the message. Here's the shortened version of where I'm at:
My GGgrandfather was Jurrien Pot, b. 16 May 1853 i Garsthuizen, d. 31 Aug 1918 in Groningen. I have no other info on him or his parents. He and his wife Trijntje Buur had 5 sons: Pieter, Kornelis, Hermanus, Eisse (b. 4 Jul 1886 in Groningen, d. 4 May 1979 in Grand Rapids, MI), and Jan. Eisse was my Ggrandfather. He came to Michigan in about 1909, and incidently, added a "T" to Pot, which is why I am a "Pott" instead of a "Pot". Eisse had 9 kids (6 boys, 3 girls). The oldest, Jurrien Jerry, is my grandfather. He turns 90 next month. Of the 6 boys, J. Jerry is the only one to retain "Pott", all the other boys added an "S" to make it "Potts".

So, do any of these names ring any bells? Or can you point me in a good direction?

My Ggrandfather's name was Eisse Pott. He came to Michigan
in ca.1909 from Groningen in the Netherlands. His father's name was Jurrien Pot, born in Garsthuizen, died in Groningen.

My name is Jack A. Pott. I recently had some genealogical research done on my Dutch ancestors (Pot). The search in the Netherlands led back to the following individual:

"Hans Georgh [Hans Jurrien] Pot(t), from Homborgh in Germany, trooper under the command (flag) of the Prince of Hessen Homborgh (1706), betrothal/marriage in Groningen in the A-CHURCH on resp. 19 Dec. 1705/13 Jan.1706 to Geesjen Ates of Groningen."

I am interested in pursueing the research into my German ancestors, but I'm not sure where to start. Do you have any information on the above mentioned name?

How can I find out whether any other Pot(t)s came from the same town of Homburg in Hessen?

I was wondering if any one had any information on the marriage of Casper ROTH and Augusta Louise POTT in the Cape Girardeau, MO area (May have gotten married across the river in Illinois) around 1876. I have been unable to find anything, but they are listed a man and wife in the 1900 census as having been married 24 years.

been interesting to see the different spellings of the name over the years since 1566.looking for input. my Holte married Elizabeth Potte 1566 in prestbury parish cheshire england.have found that in 1620 a Dr. John Potts came to jamestown from cheshire with an indentured servant, Randall Holt.noticed that the E was missing on both last names-contrary to the British spelling. has anyone researched Pott family back to england and found the Holt family with them

Does anyone have any information on a Peter Pott, born in VA perhaps as early as 1720. His wife's name was Rebeckah. They had 5 children (John, Jane, Ephraim, Jeremiah (my line of Potts), and Anna. Their son, Jeremiah, born about 1740, moved to Rowan Co, NC. He evidently added the "s" to his last name as a young adult. Thanks for any help

Our Rev. is a Potts. To the best of my knowledge at this point. As i'm sure you have found in some of the older records sometimes the names are mis spelled or changed depending on who wrote it.. If I find That Ms. West was on this side of my family I'll post again so you'll know and give more info..Best Wishes on your search..Cindy

Not sure if this is a match; but I know of a Rev. Hanson Potts
who had married Elizabeth Turner; they lived in ILL. Her parents were Welsh born.His father was named Samuel. She died after having a Daughter named Emily Francis. There were several older Brothers whom I don't know the names of yet. I know Hanson remarried at least once, maybe twice after Elizabeth died.
