His wife Mary was also not a daughter of Ninian BEALL as is commonly listed, and it is very doubtful that she was even a BEALL. She was most likely a MILLS. See my page at:
http://home.netcom.com/~fzsaund/beall.html

Fredric - thanks so much for posting this info!

John is my maternal 9th G-Grandfather.

I always try to verify info from at least 3 different sources, but some records raise red flags.

Ancestry.com is circulating this false record. It is a shame how greed can motivate people to falsify genealogy.

Rule #1 do your research!

Hello, I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but I very recently learned that Alice Smythe McCabe's book has been out of print for awhile. You and I both will have to rely upon the kindness of strangers.

Not knowing where you are located, there is a copy in the Cincinnati Public Library genealogy section, but I doubt if they will let us copy it.

By the way, I am descended from Thomas Pottenger who married Elizabeth Kinkade.
Hi I just wanted to let you know that my grandfather was one of Zeb and Ann's children. I have run across my grandfathers name being spelled wrong myself so a I thought I would tell you the correct spelling. His name was Valen. Not Volner. He was born on Valentines Day and that's how the name came about. As it happens they also named my Father Val. Just thought you might like to know this. Have a good day, Jennifer

I'm researching the BALDWIN family and their connections to the POTTENGER line.

I'm interested in locating anyone who might have family information about James BALDWIN b ca1720 m. Elizabeth POTTENGER from Prince Georges Co.MD.

Elizabeth is the dau of Samuel POTTENGER b1693 m. Elizabeth TYLER who are the grandparents of the Samuel POTTENGER b1754 who built Pottengers Station in Nelson Co.and that Pottenger's Creek was named after. So it's very possible that some of James and Elizabeth's children or grandchildren came to Nelson Co.KY as well.

I'm trying to tie in Thomas BALDWIN who was living in Nelson Co.KY in the early 1800's with these people, as he was from MD as well.

All information is very welcome,
Thank you
N.J.Skinner White : vwhite0901@aol.com
http://hometown.aol.com/vwhite0901/myhomepage/heritage.html

John POTTENGER of Maryland was baptized 29 Nov. 1661 at Lambourne, Berkshire, England. See Neil D. Thompson and Paul C.
Do you know anything about Catherine Pottenger and Robert Craigo? I believe they had at least one son, James, who was born in 1851. At least two children of James was born in Preble County, Camden, Ohio

I think that Catherine was Robert's first wife. He also was married to Julia Squires. Considering the year of birth of James, believe he was the son of Robert and Catherine.

Robert had at least 8 children all together.

I know that your posting did not list a Catherine Pottenger, thought perhaps you still might know something about her and her marriage to Robert.

Appreciate you time,
Sincerely,

Sylvia Davis

Do you have any Gilkeys intertwined with your Pottengers? I have Gilkeys and Pottengers migrating together and settling in the same area in Kentucky (Nelson Co. area), also some marriages between the two. Wondering if it is the same line. Thanks, Danna

I am doing my Simmonds Family Tree and have a long way to go as my great grandfather Henry Simmonds came to queensland in either 1871 or 1873 and he was born in Stourmouth Kent around 1847/1848. Henry was either 21 or 23 years of age when he arrived on either ships, Abbey Holme or Great Queensland. Possibly resided around Mereworth or Hollingbourne Kent.
He married Christiana Annie Mylchreest in Queensland 19th January 1884. They had eight children.

In progress of getting his marriage certificate as first step.

Can you help me?

Kind regards

Maree
