Searching for George W. Potter II

I am looking for pictures or information on my great-great grandfather George Washington Potter II. (He is refered to as George W. Potter in newspaper clippings and photos and records, and the W has sometimes been assumed to be William) he married Maude Drane and his siblings were Orange Potter, Lou (Potter) Blakemore (She's referred to as Lou but her name I think was Annie Lou Potter), John Morrison Potter, Dora (Potter) Rains, and Arthur Potter.
His parents were George Washington Potter Sr. and Minerva Angeline Gatewood. I know next to nothing about him or his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. and would love any information I can get on him and his family.

Struggling with finding information - Alice Potter

My great grandmother's name was Alice Emily Potter, born August 7, 1897 somewhere in the vicinity of Essex. Her mother's name was Elizabeth born in 1897 and on one document we've found she claimed she was born in Edney Common, Essex County. Alice had a sister Elizabeth born in 1895 and a brother Ernest born in 1901. All 3 were sent to Canada. We did get a birth certificate for her sister Elizabeth, but no father is listed. We were hoping we'd have better luck with Alice. I'm really stuck here - can anyone give me some advice?

Maybe you can help us. I noticed you were looking for Potter family in Springfield.
I was put up for adoption and received my original birth certificate and I was the son of Edna Potter, age 22 at the time of my birth. According to record I was born in November of 1962 in Holyoke, ma.
My mother was staying on N. Bridge St in Holyoke,ma.
Talking to case manager today she said my mother was admitted to belchertown state hospital for mental/psychiatric issues. I was told it was a big family but they put me up for adoption due to not having the means to take care of me.
I do not have any more informationa except that Edna had another child prior to me anot sure if male or female but believe sibling was also put up for adoption. Edna potter was born in Lancaster, Nh I am guessing in 1940 since she was 22 at the time of my birth. I was named Robert James Potter according to my birth certificate.
I have no other information, i have filled out information to have my records opened. Right now the lawyers have it under review.

Among D.H.'s children with wife, Laura Jackson, also gave me Harvey Glen, but not Darluce Louise.

Or maybe it was Vira who gave me those. I met Vira a number of times and communicated with both her and Barbara at different times.

With wife May Killion, Darlington Harvey (D.H.) had one son, David Harvey (D.H.), who had son William James Dowd Potter, and daughter, Debra Lynn Potter by wife Mona, and son Arvin Potter by wife Delores.

Some have his death as 1795 in Surry, NC and others bef. 1820 in Lincoln Co., KY.
Does anyone have a list of children for this person? I have read Gideon Potter's biography and have come up with his sons as:
1 son killed in Rev. War, 1 son killed in Rev. War, Moses, Lewis, and Benjamin, Stephen, and 1 son who moved to Kentucky. I have seen all sorts of lists on ancestry.com, so I am looking for some proof of these children. Can anyone help? Thanks,

Fletcher Jr. left Canada April 20, 1942 to Niagra Falls, NY.
Looks like he wound up in New Jersey where he registered for draft WW II July 24, 1942. Says he was separated, no dependents. He married a second time Saline County Arkansas to Mabel Louise Thurman. He died September 16, 1950 Little Rock, Arkansas at age 50.

He also registered for WW I in 1918 along with his dad, Fletcher, Sr. At that time both he and his dad worked for Canadian Northern Railway and had been injured in a wreck. The dad injured his right leg, and the son injured his right elbow, leaving his arm crooked.

James Potter was my great,great, great, great, great grandfather. My father was Dr. Thompson E.Potter, his father was Dr. Caryl A. Potter, his father was Dr. Thompson E. Potter, his father was Thomas Potter, his father was Eldridge Potter, his father was James Potter.

I did quite a bit of research on James Potter years ago at the National Archives in Washington, DC where there was microfilm of his County Court testimonies, in Tenn. and MO to receive his Pension.

I look forward to sharing and learning more information on James Potter. Especially where I might get the book "The Descendants of James Potter 1759-1840",

One thing I am looking for is a Potter male to take a DNA test as no one can trace the family for sure beyond Joshua although I believe we are descended from Revolutionary War veteran Thomas Potter. I realize your post was made a long time ago, but I have been going through as many 'Potter' posts as I can in search of my ggg-grandfather, James Potter(married to Charlotta Frye). When I saw the name 'Colvin' it sparked a memory of something I found. Here's the first paragraph from the article:

John & Emilia (or Emily) Potter had 2 children who died in infancy after the 4 boys you already know about. James' family still live around Worcester. William's family (mine) came to Australia in 1913 (the 2 eldest boys a little later than the rest). I came to a full stop with Robert & Allen until today when I got a message that I am following & saw your post as a consequence. I don't know who the message sender descended from yet, but it is my experience that one can learn a lot more from the descendants than from the Internet which is then a useful tool to confirm findings. If you have still got gaps or want to discuss findings send me a message as I'm more likely to see it. I had a lot of my early research done by a paid professional in England with the genealogists' standards of proof, so while nothing that old is infallible, I do have some faith in the story I have of the Potters & the Hoopers.

Solomon Potter Norfolk / Suffolk Circa 1807

Solomon is shown on ancestry and census records as being born 1808 in Tivetshall Norfolk and died 1808 in Winfarthing also Norfolk. HOWEVER!!!
Parish records show no trace of him in Tivetshall. Searches of Norfolk parish records show a Solomon being born June 1807 in Starston (Nearby) to a William Potter (believed to be born in Braiseworth Suffolk)and a Sarah ( poss Larkham or Foulsham believed to be born East Calton, Suffolk) Can anyone help sort this out it's driving me mad.
If correct Solomon had brothers and sisters all born in Starston b/w 1801 & 1813 namely Susan, John, James,William, Eliza, Mary Ann & Daniel

Hello! I posted that query 8 years ago! I am so happily surprised to get a response. Rita was my grandfather Elwyn's sister. I think I likely met her when I was a kid .... years ago. I believe Rita was one of 3 siblings who married into the Birce family. Elwyn also married a Birce - Sarah Jane. My mother and aunt's often talked about their double cousins.

I'm not related to Jacob Potter or the Southworths. I'm related to Stoughton Potter and Mary Weaver of MA and RI area. Then his grandchild Stoten (Stolin) Potter and his wife Margaret Supler who lived in Donegal and Good Intent PA before moving on to Adams County IL. KKJOY

After re-reading my post of yesterday, I realized that I didn't make it clear that Chester Southworth was Charlotta's second marriage.

I also have been stuck on this Potter line. I'm trying to find the father of Jacob and Luther Potter. Charlotta married Chester Southworth who was born 17 Jul 1764/65 in Mansfield Tollard Conn. His first wife was Zerviah who died Apr 1812 Canton St Lawrence NY. Chester died 9 Feb 1817 Canton St Lawrence NY. Charlotta thus had to marry Chester after Zerviah died in 1812 and Chester died in 1817. They had a son Ralph Southworth born 1816. Charlotta is later found in Ill -- in Jacob's home and also Ralph's home. If interested, I can direct you to documentation of primary sources. Anna married a John P. Burke.
They have lived in Conn. Rhode Island, Mass. and New York.
Children are:
Frances born 1895 R.I.
John Edward born 1898 Mass.
Hester L. born 1900 N.Y.
Arthur Stanley born 1902 Conn.
Helen A. born 1908 Conn.
Dorothy A. born 1912 Conn.
Charles Potter born 1915 Conn.
