Sue, hi thanks for the response, there are no Poland's left (by name) that attend the family reunion. My Grandmother Tillie (Poland) Sancrant was the reason we still have the reunion. If you live in the Monroe Michigan area or would like to come to the 2009 family reunion I would love to meet you and your husband.

Mel Sancrant

Francois Poulain

I am looking for any info on a Francois Poulain, at least that is how they spelled it that time, who was born in Michigan about 1752. According to the 1850 Federal census he was living in the poor house in Monroe Michigan at the age of 98. Kind of sad really as he had children and grandchildren. Anyway, according to Father Dennison's French Families of the Detroit River, he married Marie Olivet, no parents names given. They are the brick wall of my French Canadian lines. I can't figure out which Poulin line they came from as I have seen many. Would anyone out there know of any Poulin's who may have gone to Detroit? The Poulin name was eventually corrupted to "Poland" around here, although I have seen it spelled at least a dozen different ways. Thanks for any help.

Bobbie, any information you have will be helpful, just like you I want to find out as much about the Poulian (Poland) side of the family, I do remember the Larrow when we had our family reunion back in the 50 and 60's if our grandmothers were sisters then you and I our cousins. I will provide as much information as I can.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to talking with you and meeting you. Oh by the way we still do the family reunions every year on my grandmother (Poland) birthday (16 July).

Mel

Mel Sancrant
Roofing Specialist Owens Corning
Work: 419 248 5500
Cell: 419 376 8360
Fax 419 325 0500
mel.sancrant@owenscorning.com

My great grandmother was Mary Ann Poland, married to John Larrow. My grandmother was Frances Larrow. It sounds like my great grandmother and your grandmother were sisters. I do have the Poland line only as far back as Detroit, it's still my brick wall. I have the Boudrie side to France. John Larrow's mother was Bridget Sanscrainte, so I also have their line. Email at kohlers@chartermi.net, there is too much info to put on a website. By the way, I live in Monroe. Bobbie Kohler
