David's son Asa had 5 wives, 2 of whom you mentioned here on this post. The others were as follows and in their respective counties and states.

#3 Susan HAMMOND Powers on 22 OCT 1865 in Cass Co, MO
No children were found so far from this marriage.

#4 Mary ROWDEN Powers on 26 OOCT 1869 in MO (her family lived in Washington Co, MO but later her sons were found in Jersey Co, IL)
Grant Powers(1873) and Andrew Jackson Powers(1869) were of this union

#5 Lucinda JANKINS (Jenkins, Junkins, Jinkens) Powers were married 18 Mar 1875 in Bollinger, MO. Asa and the kids are later found in Douglas CO, MO
Children of this union were:
Matilda (1868), Mary (1880), Charles Frances (1881), Lara (1886-1906), Jessie (1891), and Katie (1893). It's possible that Matilda was Lucinda's child from a previous relationship but she is listed in the house as a Powers child.

Asa died in 1913 at the National Volunteer Soldiers home and buried in Springfield, MO in the Veterans Cemetary. He had previously resided with his daughter Mary POWERS Whetsten in Douglas Co.MO

Asa is my husband's great great grandfather through Andrew Jackson Powers.
This was my mother. She was born in Lawton, OK I
On Dec. 3 1907. They had moved there from Henry before she was born. My guess is that my grandmother sent it to a relative back in Illinois and it ended up in an antique store after that person died. I think I have that picture. Is my grandmother all dressed up with a big hat on? I would love to buy yours anyway because it had a fascinating history! How do I get in touch wit you?

I am not a relative - I purchased a photograph in Peoria many years ago and am trying to reunite it with her family. On the back of the photo is written: Velma Ruth Powers and her mamma
3 months, 10 days old
Weight: 14 lbs
Length: 24 inches
March, 1908

The dob and dod dates that you have posted correspond with my fathers and that he was buried in los angeles county The last time I saw him I was about 7 or 8 in I think, 1971. They both married Hamblin sisters. The area they were in became Kentucky when the state was split.

My grandmother was Lula Sarah Powers b 1887 Kentucky fa George I do not have her mother's name and I believe she is from the Eliakim Powers line; she married Andrew Daggres, died in Fulton Ga Aug 13 1923. I replied as my grandmother had at least 4 sets of twins and one single birth. My father Earnest O. Daggres and his sister Martha were the only full set to survive. I believe having twins is genetic. Another mention of twins may be on the Harmon line. There are many interesting stories on the Powers in ancestry: Kentucky Pioneers and Bio, stories on the Harmons. Interesting reading and history.

This line is part of my father's family (Hartwicks (father's side) from Indiana and Livesays (mother's side) from Virginia. James and Charity's daughter, Laura Wilson is my g-grandmother and she married Anderson Jefferson Livesay. I've been stuck on James parents and also if Charity was part of Butler D. Powers family since I did see a Charity on one census with him as father. I can find no info on Louisa Weaver. Do you know who Butler's parents were? I also saw something that said he might have been Mormon and had several wives?

I am also researching my mother's family (Lester & Tonge in Lancashire, England on her mother's side and Thomas & Sugden from England on her father's side)

thanks.

According to our research Charity Powers was born 9-9-1834 in New York. Her parents were Butler D Powers, born 12-20-1803 in New York and Louisa Weaver, born 3-13-1813, also in New York. They were married July 21, 1830. This information was taken from a family bible of Butler. Louisa died 9-26-1838. In that month she had lost a child of 6, and gave birth to a son and died a few days later. Butler married Abigail McKean. The 1850 census for Lima, IL showed that Charity lived with them. She was 15. In 1860 the census for New Madrid, MO she was married to James Wilson and they had one daughter, Alice. Charity was 25. James was a trapper. In the 1870 census for Big Creek, Taney, MO, she was shown as being 35. James was now shown as a farmer and they had three daughters, Alice, Olive and I think Laura. Hope this is helpful. What family history are you researching?

She was born June 26, 1921, in Clay County to the late Oscar and Ollie Mae Wagers Powers. Survivors include her children, Shorty Smith of Corbin, Beechel and Cecil Smith, Viola Peel and Lena and husband Garnett Lay, all of Nicholasville; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five children, Gracie, Luther, Abe and Jabe Smith and Ollie Dotson. Camel Smith was her ex-husband. I doubt the # of grandchildren/ great grand children are correct. My sister and I belonged to Abe and no longer had contact with the family. I would love to see if you have a family tree put together
-Rachel-
Sara,

I have it, and it's on familysearch now as well as in my tree. They were married in MA.

It's the Eunice Powers m. Samuel Newberry record we'd love to have, as well as any information that would prove Eunice was descended from the Jonas Powers and Jerusha Harmon of VT.

CuzMo

Hi! I'm descended from Jonas and Jerusha Powers' daughter Eunice, who married Samuel Newberry.

Do you have any sourced documentation of Jerusha's and/or Jonas' deaths in present-day Bland County? Their death records are not in the Bland Co courthouse... So far I have not been able to conclusively prove they did move to Virginia.

Thanks so much!
Morgan (and Sara!)
