It's been a long time since I've checked this board. Your grandmother was Henrietta Prout, daughter of Charles Morris Prout? If so, I can add a lot of information for you, but I know it's been a long time. My current email address is mdfamilygal@aol.com

My father, Robert Prout, was Jessie's nephew. They grew up together on the Prout farm in Maryland with Lem and Susie. My mother, Robert's wife, is still in touch with Frances, Jessie's widow.

My father's father was Morris Prout, Jessie's brother. My father's mother Jennie was Native American, bur I not sure which tribe.

My father said that Lemuel's amcestors were German. I'd like to know more about all sides of the family.

Hi Mary - Hope you are well. My cousin Keith (Parry) is compiling a Family tree for his family and as my dad and his mother were brother and sister, and mam married dad, the Prout side has been linked in. I take it you are doing the Prout side?
Not a big fan of family tres myself, but can see its appeal as we get older - when we were young we looked to the future but now we tend to look back....

Best wishes.
Clive.
PS Hope Aunty Sophie/Uncle Wynford and all the cousins are fine. We have lost contact since your mum went - she was the conduit that I sent all the Xmas cards etc through and she always wrote a small news note that she sent with the cards she sent me.

PPS I am on Facebook if you use that.

The info I have is that he was born 1905 in Subiaco Perth and died 1950 in Queensland. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Ashley Prout

The book is out of print, unfortunately. It might be possible to find one on eBay.

In reply to a post below, there are a few errors (my birthday for one), but for the most part, it is well-researched and factual. There was supposed to have been an erratum follow up, but I'm not sure if they printed it or not.

Thank you for your 8/14/2010 post.
I made the original post at the request of David Randell Collins, son of Bessie Nutwell Prout now age 64
David lives in Indian Trail, NC Tel # 704-516-5362 and is very interested in finding someone who can help fill in the details of his mother's family.
He told me that his Grandmother Collins would not let him contact the Prout Family or attend his mother's funeral. This left a lot of bad memories for a 8 year old boy who was orphaned and was lied to about his move to NC.
Davis R. Collins has two sons and was recently divorced from his wife of over 20 years, Sherry. David finished at Chapel Hill ( Univ of NC) 1968 and had a successful career managing a metals plant in Arkansas and later metal sales in his later days. He has had a horrible bout with alcohol and was the major issue with his spouse.

His grandmother Collins married my great uncle Vernon Moore.
I have basically befriended Dave in his later years trying to help him while he battles his alcohol problem.

If you could contact him; it would be great!

Donald Moore
704-821-6216

Sorry I have not checked the message board in some time!

Timothy Prout

I have the following information:

Generation No. 5

16.	TIMOTHIE PROUT (baptised ??) married first on 9th August 1685 Awre, Gloucestershire (ref 62) ANNE HORWOOD (baptised 31st January 1660, Newnham; buried 29th March 1693, Awre). Had issue:
16.1.	SARAH PROUT baptised 14th June 1686, Awre;
16.2.	THOMAS PROUT baptised 20th May 1691, Awre;
married secondly on 20th December 1693, Awre RUTH ESSINGTON Had issue:
16.3.	TIMOTHY PROUT baptised about 1690.

Generation No. 6

17.	TIMOTHY PROUT (buried 5th January 1767, Lydney, Gloucestershire) married MARY U/K (baptised before 1735) before 1755. Had issue:
17.1.	GEORGE PROUT baptised on the 16th of February 1755 Lydney, Gloucestershire (ref 41);
17.2.	WILLIAM PROUT baptised 18th Sept 1757 Bream (ref 17);
17.3.	TIMOTHY PROUT baptised 23rd May 1763 Lydney (ref 63; por: Yorkley);
17.4.	HANNAH PROUT baptised Sept 21st 1766, Lydney (ref 63; por: Newland).

Hannah Prout is my documented ancestor. I note the recurence of the Chistian name Timothy which suggests a connection to the Prouts of Bideford, Devon. Bideford is a port with easy boat trip up the Bristol Channel to Awre and Lydney which are also on the Bristol Channel. Also, the Prouts were sailors so the boat trip would not have been difficult.

Grateful for any ideas on a connection between the Prouts of Gloucestershire and Devon.

Chris Morgan

Dear Molly King
I started a geneology search in 2010. I am grandson of Henrietta Prout and would enjoy comparing notes. So far, my Lineage goes back to Daniel Prout who died in 1749 and his son, Daniel was born in 1740; possibly in Dorchester Cty. Md.

There was an obituary in the Washington Post within the last few years of a Prout whose mother was an Indian who
stopped by and eventually stayed at a Prout farm in Calvert County. I'm sorry I don't recall all the details, but you could do a search of the Post. I assumed that he was fathered by a Prout but I could be wrong.
Hope this helps somewhat.

Bessie, Philip, and Belle were triplets who also had brothers John, Alfred, and Winterson, and sister Mary. All are deceased as of this writing.
Bessie was killed by a hit run driver in Washington, DC and the family lost contact with the children. Her father was John Edward Prout, a local sherriff, and mother was
Bertie Nutwell. Her father was not a first generation farmer. Could get more info if you like.

I see so many wills to be gone through and just wonder if you have out your hand to it before I take a run at it?

All I can remember from your last email was something about two branches of ABSALOMs but heard nothing further on the matter.

My best to you both,
Dawn

There are a lot of Prouts from Devon and Cornwall so every bit of detail helps.
My Prouts came from Malborough and Blackawton in Devon in the late 1700's so I go back a long way. My gt-grandmother was Jane Prout from Plymouth who died at Totnes.

I am trying to find out whether the William Prout, son of Thomas, tailor of Litton Cheney, who was indentured to John Tucker, tailor of Ashbrittle, 1747/48, returned to Litton Cheney or could possibly be the William Prout, tailor, who settled in Bampton, Devon, near Ashbrittle. The Bampton William is there by 1765 with wife, Mary.

Thanks any help you can give.

Carol Fisk

I am also researching Prouts, but mine are mostly in the Bampton area of Devon and several were tailors. I found an indenture record from 1747/48 for a William Prout, son of Thomas Prout of Litton Cheney to John Tucker, tailor, of Ashbrittle, Somerset, which is very close to Bampton and wonder if that's how the family arrived in the Bampton area. Does anyone have any parish record information, please, about Prout births and marriages in Litton Cheney around 1725 - 1770?

Thanks

Carol

I dont know whether the St. Issells Prouts were connected to mine but maybe the Will of Sterphen Prout may show a connection.

Best wishes
Yvonne Davies

His daughter Elizabeth PROUT b. 1746 St. Issells married James CALLEN (abt 1750) of St. Issells on 9 Jun 1781 at the parish church.

I have been trying to locate family of this branch for about ten years. I have difficulty following the PROUT lines back any further due to most records at the NLW are so illegible when photocopied, or not allowed to be photocopied due to age, etc.

I would appreciate any info you share with Yvonne Davies.
