My grandfathers name is Joseph Puleio. It was changed to Pleyo by 1940. I don't have much info except that he was from Messina and that he came here around 1905. He was a coal miner in western PA and then moved to MD to be with his son Tony. His wife's name was Rosaria (Sarah) Micale Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for replying. Gaetano (Thomas) Puleo and Rosalia Palazzolo were my grandparents, which makes your husband and I second cousins -- nice to meet you.

Their children were (now all deceased): Guiseppe, Beatrice, Vita, Angelina (Angie), and Rose. They did live in Grand Rapids, Mich. before moving to NY. Guiseppe and his family eventually moved back there, with Gaetano. There is no Andrea Puleo in their family.

Through the official Cinisi town website, I found that Gaetano had nine siblings, one of whom died as a child: Angela 1873, Gaetano, 1874, Santa 1876-1877, Vincenzo (Jim) 1878, Damiano 1881, Santa 1883, Filippa 1885, Pietra 1888, Guiseppe (known as Peter in the US)1890 and Giacomo, 1892.

Gaetano's children were friendly with Vincenzo and Filippa, although I was very young and only remember Vincenzo. We never had any contact with Peter, who lived in Yonkers. I remember my mother talking about her cousins Joe Di Santo and his wife, but I was very young and don't remember them at all, unfortunately.

Do you know Vito Palazzolo? We found a funerary card for him in the Michigan family's bible.

You can reach me at joacropolis@yahoo.com for more info. Hope to hear from you.

Thank you. I am going to check that out. She was my Paternal Grandmother's Mother (but I never knew my Grandmother...she died before I was born). Although I am finding a great deal about her Father's side, her Mother's side simply ends with Angela Puleo. They WERE from Sicily...Caltinasette, Resuttano, Sicily, so it is possible that they were related in some way. Thank you for replying and trying to assist us! Cheryl.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I have a grandfather that was born around 1900 and was from Palermo. His name was Joseph Puleo and immigrated to the US around 1903. He married a Anna Metz and resided in New Jersey. They had 5 children. One of which was my mother Mary Ann. I was hoping they are connected somehow and if you have any more information, please let me know.

Hello, I am in Canada, and going through old papers and found a photo belonging to the landlord of the house I rented in 1970 in Sherman Oaks, California, on 4718 Lemona St. The landlord was named Frank Puleo. He lived nearby, and was a hemophiliac, would sometimes come over to visit and talk. His uncle also lived nearby and showed me how to prepare the garden for planting, which I enjoyed. The photo is a wedding photo dated 1947, and if you think it may be connected to your family, I could scan and email it or mail it to you.
Debra

I'm a grandchild of Gaetano Puleo, one of Giuseppe Puleo & Pietrina Palazzolo's children. Gaetano and his family lived in both Mich and NY, and Gaetano's siblings in the US lived in NY. I have information on most of them, some of it incomplete at the moment. It's not clear from your post what your relationship is to Giuseppe & Pietrina Puleo, so I don't know whether I can help you or not (or whether you need any info).
I'm looking for information about two of Gaetano's siblings: Pietro (who lived in NY) or his sister Angela (possibly married to a DiSanto; lived in Italy). Also, another post I've seen refers another sibling, Giacommo. No one in our family has ever heard of him, so any info would be appreciate.
Thanks!

My grand father and his father and his father are all Antonino Biondos from Cinisi. All I know is that my Great grand father came to St. Louis Mo. in the early 1900's and worked on the railroads. Im trying to find out if he had siblings I know of only one sister whos name I dont know. I also know he had two wives. The first was Lugrezia which he had Nife and Rosa who both married into the Puleo family. Lugrezia died in the early 30's or late 20's from the flu epidemic. His second wife my great grandmother Rosalia Palazzolo, had my grand father Antonino who as I mentioned before was born in Cinisi where he lives today but now thanks to old age cant remember much and what he does remember doesnt actualy make sense. Any help finding my great grand father's siblings would be great.

Hi Noah! Thanks for you message. Sadly we were never able to make much progress on the searches we were doing a few years ago. It was mainly my brother and myself doing the searching. At the time we were just high school & college students. It seems it might be easier to perform these searches when you have a bit more spending money. :)

We are still very interested in finding more about our family, of course. It seems like we could very well have a connection between Anna and Marianna. I must admit I'm also unsure about how to go forward with making such a connection. Perhaps between the two of us we can come up with some ideas?

Kristin,

I likely have a connection for you, though as of yet I don't know how to go about making it. My great-grandmother was Marianna Puleo, born 1875 in Palermo. She married Francesco Raimondi. I have been told that both were from prominent Palermo families. It sounds like your Anna could be an older sister or aunt of my great-grandmother. Did you ever make any progress on reaching back into Italy?

Thanks,
Noah

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find out more information about my great-great grandmother, Anna Puleo. We don't know much about her, only that that she was born in 1864 (in Palermo). In 1866 she married Rosario Badolato, who was a farmer in Palermo. They had at least one son, Joseph (Guiseppe) who was born in 1866. This was my great-grandfather. He came to the U.S. around 1902 at the age of 16. It is believed Anna Puleo died in Palermo...but we have no date of death.

If any of this sounds familiar, feel free to contact me: badolato@slu.edu -or- littleshirleybeans116@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Kristin
