My great grandfather married on 20 Dec 1849 in Carroll Co., NS, Sarah Ann Pullen, daughter of Sanford Pullen and Susanah Pullen. I've been told that in Geraldine's book, she refers to my great grandfather as William Tillman Edwards, whereas the marriage record, subsequent census records and his gravestone list him as William L or W. L. Edward. His CSA record shows him as William Leonard Edwards.

Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the book or at least copies of the pages that reference my great grandfather? I will be happy to re-imburse you for your costs.
You can send me email, with the same username that is shown here, at excite.com

PULLEN DNA MATCH TO ROBERT CRAFT PULLEN! I know that this is a longshot since your query was posted in 2002. My mother was Elizabeth Marvell PULLEN. I have been trying to find her PULLEN ancestry past her great grandfather, Capt. Samuel M. PULLEN for over 20 years. He was born in Fredericksburg, VA 1811-1815. It appears (no positive proof)that he was son of Lindsey PULLEN b. 1775-1780. Lindsey was 1st on 1810 Census in Lancaster Co., VA and then in Fredericksburg 1820, 1830 and 1840. Lindsey d. 1846. I have been searching for a male PULLEN cousin to take the PULLEN DNA test. Finally found one in May 2011. He took the test and matches with William PULLEN, 1758 in VA and Robert Craft PULLEN, 1814 in GA. Hope you are still at this e-mail or someone else sees this and the connection of our Samuel M. PULLEN to your Robert Craft PULLEN as well as the William PULLEN, 1758, VA. My e-mail is mar.nesbitt@msn.com. Margaret Nesbitt.

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything of an Elizabeth Mary Pullen nee Finch. She was born about 1884 in or around Lingfield, Hove, Haywards Heath area. I have found a record for a marriage to a George Pullen in 1901 in Brighton. However by 1923 she had married again to a Charles Cook. Do not know what happened to George or if they had any children. Have spent ages looking, as i was told she was born a pullen, and only recently found she was actually a Finch!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Percy Pullen

Hello all. Nice to see some more bits about Percy Pullen. He was married to my great grandmother when he fell off a torpedo boat and drowned in B'ness Scotland. they had two children Walter and Maud. Annie Elizabeth Higham then Pullen came back to Sheerness and bought a house in Jefferson Rd, no 27. She then married Arthur Ablett in 1909 at the Holy Trinity Church on August 26th. In 1910 she gave birth to their only child Reginald at 102 Jefferson Road. Reginald went on to buy a pleasure boat The Silver Queen which did trips locally before it was commissioned in the 2nd World War. It sank on it's 4th trip back from Dunkirk. Reginald bought the Silver Queen 2 after the war but then also bought and ran a tea shop on the beach.
Annie Elizabeth and Arthur Ablett are buried in a grave in the cemetery you talk of. Maud went on to marry William Rule. The grave is also there. We visited Sheppey for the first time in May and discovered much of this info then. None of it has been added to my tree as l need to renew my membership. Just thought those of you who are interested would like this info. I find the tree business very confusing which is part of the reason l have not renewed yet!Linda

Hello,
Ivy Pullen was my great aunt. Since her death I have learnt a lot more of our family. She kept all newspaper obituary cuttings of deaths in the family, and a story of Richards work. I have been to sheppey and found some of our ancestors are buried in The Halfway Cemetery. I am going over again to hopefully find the graves of Richards father James and mother Esther, and any other Pullens. The Pullen family were well known on the Island in the 1800's. I have been in touch with Ivy's daughter Val, and a cousin Barbara, who's grandmother was Ethel Pullen (Ivy and Sidney's sister.) I Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Shirley

Hi, my nan was Ivy Pullen, Sidney's sister. She died in 2000 aged 103. She always talked about her family, especially her brothers and sisters. Percy Pullen was drowned in an accident in 1907, and Stanley died in the Somme in 1916. She showed me the letter from Stanley from the trenches. I went with her to see the house in Edith Street, Faversham, where Richard's family once lived. It would be good to hear from more descendants of Richard Pullen.

Hi

Not sure if I have the correct family, however my grandmother just recently died and we found out that her fathers name was Jack Pullen. Her mothers name was Dora Abrahams. My grandmothers name was Maisie Kopps (married surname). We were never told who my grandmothers father was until after her death. I am doing my family tree and would greatly appreciate any information. I live in Australia but have alot of family members still living in South Africa some still living in PE. My grandmother was born in 1913. She was 97 when she died. So I am assuming her father would of been born early to mid 1880’s. My grandmother said her mother came from D’Aar and travelled to PE as a young girl and that was were she stayed the rest of her life. My grandmother was born and grew up in around the city centre of PE not far from the docks of where the ships use to dock from overseas. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards Deidre Golding

Geraldine apparently got a couple of things wrong, but it is a good source.
