Hello,
I just visited the cemetery in October, it wasn't easy. The Waggoner family did let us cross the land, and showed us where to cross the fence. Have you compiled a list of those buried there? I would love to see it if you would be willing to share. I too descend from Katherine Pulliam, and I have in my possession the tintype of Katherine.
Donna Hoffman Schultheiss
Victoria, TX

My husband is a descendant of Benjamin Pulliam 1706-1792. On several trees out there , there is a will of Benjamin Pulliam. He died in 1792 in Mecklenburg, Virginia. Every time I find this will, I am unable to print it. Could someone out there send this will to me. My computer freezes every time. Thia will is in Will book 3, page 138, I suppose it must have been written in Mecklenburg, Virginia.
We are planning a trip up that way in May and I am compiling info for the trip. I hope that someone can help.
mwjw1935@aol.com

I am trying to find who Agnes Pulliam married (if anyone). She was still single and probably a minor when her father, Thomas, died in 1758.
I have seen a lot of family trees name Fisher Rice as her husband, but none of them offer any proof, and I have so far not been able to locate any. I have found Fisher's will, written 29 March, 1814, but since he was apparently a widower, it says nothing of a wife.
Does anyone know the source for the idea that Agnes Pulliam married Fisher Rice?

Thanks, Sharon. That's is part of what is confusing me. I've heard this comment from Billy also. But, I don't think the Pulliam farm was on Billy. I think the Pulliam farm was on the Nitchke's (if you drive down Cedar Springs Road, I understand that Billy's farm was on the left, and the Nitchke's is on the right). I've heard about the cemetery that was on Billy that was moved, and others have referred to it as the Whitney Cemetery. Plus, I have not found any record of any Pulliam's being exhumed and their graves moved. I got a couple more clues this evening, and thought of another resource I plan on trying in the morning. This is like a modern day treasure hunt for me.

The following response to the question about the Pulliam Cemetery in Cedar Springs is below. The response is from Glen Conner, Allen County resident and Board of Directors Allen County Historical Society:

"I spoke to Billie Hurt today. He several years ago sold the property on which the Pulliam Cemetery was located. He has not been involved since then. Subsequently, family members removed the graves elsewhere. from that cemetery. He doesn't know where they were reburied or even if they all went to the same place. In any case, the Pulliam Cemetery does not now exit.

Perhaps Pulliam descendents could help with where the graves are located now."

I cannot say with 100 per cent certainty who John's parents were. I do know Mary and Benjamin had a son named John. But I am enough uncertain about it being our John that I wouldn't make a positive link in my own documentation.
I have a distant half cousin, who has also researched and he has Benjamin and Mary Bruce Pulliam as John's parents.

He has William and Ann Patterson Pulliam as the parents of Benjamin. He has William as the son of James and Mary Clark Pulliam. He continues the Pulliam line back to England.

Sandra F

My husband is a descendant of John Pulliam. According to my research John was married twice. Once to Harty Smith and once to Mary Mary Mayo.

Nelson was a son of John and Harty. Nelson was born about 1773 in Franklin County NC. Also born to that union were: Cullen, Alsey, Allen, Sarah, And Kinchen.

Kinchen was the father of Calvin, who was the father of Henry Calvin, who was the father of John Calvin. John Calvin was the father of my husband's mother Clola.

Nelson and Kinchen would have been brothers.

Sandra F
So far all I can find is the transcripts from the Spotsylvannia County Records 1721-1800. The problem is that these records are not necessarily matching or are not giving the proper citation information on all the folks in the Thomas_Windfred and Benjamin_Lucy tree. It makes me wonder where the dates and some of the names came from. Lots of time goes into to finding proof.

James Pulliam, guardian of Benjamin, was his older brother.

Both sons of Thomas & Winfred. Some researchers give Thomas the middle name of Obediah, but I have never seen any deeds, court records, bible records, etc that provide proof.

One of the most frustrating things about the internet is someone makes up something and then other's take it as fact.

Hello Pat, Myrtle Winterstein is the sister of my Grandfather Earl William Winterstein. Information on Hazel, Doris, Karherine and of course you and your parents and siblings would be helpful. Are your parents Patricia and James Click? I only have Feb. 1965 for a death date of Eugene C. Pulliam. I have information on the Wintersteins. If you need anything on them I will be happy to share.
Do you happen to have any photos of Mytrles parents and granparents? I have a few pictures of the kids when they were little but none of George and Margaret. I will be happy to share them also. Thank you so much for your time, Fran

I am Charlotte Pulliam's granddaughter. She she was the daughter of Bessie Pinkerton. She was married to my father's step dad James Eugene Pulliam. Charlotte passed away while living with our family in Phoenix in 1987. She had 5 kids that we know of- Rolan (my dad), John, Al, Carolyn and Laurie who we recently discovered. My great grandma, Bessie, whom we called Nana passed away while living with Carlolyn in Alaska in 1997 I believe. Her maiden name was Marrow. All 5 of Charlottes children are alive in various states- Utah, Georgia, Arizona. Her grandkids include: Tiffany, Robert, myself, John (JP), Nate, Luke, Ingrid...not sure if Laurie has kids. Gramma P, Nana & Poppa are all buried in San Diego.
