I too am sorry the book is out of print, a huge thank you to Maurice Wood for the extensive work he went to, I recently found out that my husband is a descendant of this huge family. I have been to Orange Library and Blayney to read as much as I can and still have questions that pop up in my mind and just want to keep referring back to the book. But alas I live in Sydney. Our thread ended with Margaret Hadson marrying John Edward Hyde in the book, but that was just the beginning of our line. The last surviving child of theirs is still alive and she is 84, my husbands Mum. I am looking forward to telling her all that I have found. Thanks to this wonderful book. My tree has another Thomas Radburn b. 1736, and his son John Radburn 1763 (which i think is your first John at the beginning of your tree.) can you pls confirm this

I checked through my tree, couldn't find Diane Radburn, did find Martha Welsh, could just mean I haven't come across her as yet, still a work in progress, will keep checking for you, someone else might come up with the information in the meantime, Good luck

I am married to Barry Michael Radburn son of William Thomas (Bill) Radburn who died in 2008. My husband inherited "Never to Return" from his dad who attended the re-union in 2003. This has become my 'obsession' as I cannot find any connections to Bill. He came from Trunkey Creek, Neville, Grenfell, Barry (my husbands namesake) areas and married Iris Mary Miller in 1951 in Portland. They had 2 children Susan and Barry (b. 1959 Penrith). Bill had a full older?)sister and a half sister called Mavis? Can you help me with my 'white whale',it has me intrigued!!!

David

Thanks for the additional names. Here's what I have:

George Radburn (1833-87) was the son of Coventry watchmaker William Radburn (1790-1859) and his wife Elizabeth Sanders (1801-50). His siblings were Susannah (b 1822), William (1824-c36), John Robert (1826-70), Selina (1830-75), William (1837-1904), and Joseph (1842-1921).

George was baptised in St Michael's Coventry on 4 September 1833. The 1841 census shows the family living in New Street - the census-taker spelled the surname 'Radbourne'. The 1851 census shows George, aged 18, as a watch case maker living with his father and siblings in Spon Street - this time the census-taker spelled the surname 'Rathbone'.

George married Elizabeth Beauchamp (1833-76) in 1854 - I think she may have come from Stoneleigh. Their children were:
- Susan Beauchamp (b 1853) who marr David Cole in 1874
- William (1855-1909) who marr Mary Ann Jackson in 1876 - 8 kids
- Herbert George (1861/62-1921) who marr Caroline Hewitt (1861-88) and later Emily Brophy (b 1865) - 7 kids
- Catherine Selina (1863-1939) who marr Alfred Sterland in 1885
- Arthur Joseph (1865-1945) who marr Mary Deeming (1869-1938) in 1887 - 4 kids
- Henrietta (b 1868)
- Oliver Charles (1869-1937) who marr Hannah Storer in 1897.

George and Elizabeth are buried in a family grave in the London Road cemetery in Coventry, together with three of their grandchildren who died in infancy.

Although George, like his father and brothers, was in the watchmaking trade, he and his father may have branched out into silverware. According to http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-R.html , a William and George Radburn of Spon Street, trading as 'Radburn & Son', registered a silver mark at the Birmingham assay office in 1854.

Do you know if Oliver junior (b 1900) was married to Charlotte Elizabeth Radburn nee Philips (1898-1941), who was killed in an air raid? She was listed as the wife of Oliver Charles Radburn.

Regards

Arthur
Hi Val,
I have just contacted Dianne Wilkinson in NSW. There are quite a few Tasmanian descendants of convict Mark REDBURN (son of Harriett & convict Thomas RADBURN)
I was recently in contact with a man in Hobart whose wife was nee Redburn. Richard has been doing some family tree research & I was able to give him some info about the Radburn family in NSW. I've asked Richard to contact Dianne so that the Redburns can be included in any further reunions etc. Richard's wife is related to me on the Cocker line- I'm not a Redburn but have done a bit of "digging" for Richard. I'm sure he'll be delighted to make contact with some new family on his wife's tree. Is there a book still around?
best wishes,
Sue
Western Australia
