My grandfather's surname was Rankin/s. In the 1880 census, this family is living in various parts of Bourbon County, Kentucky. I have no idea where Henry Rankins who was my great grandfather, lived prior to that. His father's name was John Rankins.

My grandfather James had the following siblings: Jess, John, Ben, Wiilie, Lewis, Fannie, Mae, Meecie, Elijah, Louis

Hello,

Can you tell me if your grandfather had any brothers and sister. Looking trough old ancestry records, I see one of my relatives, My Great, great grandfather with a son called Arthur Rankin born in 1919 his sister and brothers were names, Noah, Alonzo, Nellie, Ed, Jr. Tennessee, Jesse , Ernie and Ida. I also have a John Rankin in the family, who was married to a Joe Anna. They had a son named John . The Father was born to Allen Rankin

I am also looking for people with the last name of Rankins/Rankin but my relatives lived in Kentucky during theearly 1800's. I have no idea where they might have migrated from. My greta grandfather's name was Henry. he was married to a woman named Sallie Norton.

This Wm J Rankine was born around 1845... there is no way that he could have died last year because he would have been 165 years old! Are you sure you have the right person?? I'm interested in William Jeffrey (or Jeffreys) Rankine... Thanks!

My name is linda rankin, My great-grandfather's brother names were

david rankin(s) b. 1848 s.c. moved to georgia married martha clem

george washington rankin(s) b. 1855 in SC or ga or al depending on the mood he was in at census time.

Henry Rankin(s)b. 1858 in georgia or alabama as well

james p. rankin b. 1862 in georgia or alabama. let me know if this helps. I do have the some of the names of the children of henry rankin.

I am also looking for African Americans with the Surname of Rankin/Rankins. I have gone back as far as 1845 with the birth of my gggg Grandfather Allen Rankin, he was born in Mississippi, but according to the 1870 Census, his father was born in Virgina and his mother in North Carolina. GP Allen wife's first name was Lavinia, but there is no listing of her maiden name. He eventually moved to Arkansas, which is where most of his descendnts currently reside. I can't find any mre information beacuse he was borned into slavery and the records get kinda of murky then. If anyone thinks they may be related, please let me know.

His name is spelled Rankin, but by 1900 and "s" was added to the name.

No, I've not heard that but I've never been able to get beyond Franklin's dad, William, so this is new territory to me. Mom has always said we had everything in our family from blacks to "Klan" and back again. It wouldn't surprise me if there were Cherokee too.

I see the 1850 census shows Samuel being from PA. Have you been able to confirm this or know where in PA?

I hope you're still here. I just connected my dots. Franklin Columbus Rankin is my GG Grandfather. He married Fannie Belle Nay. Their son John William Rankin is my Great Grandfather and his son John W. Jr is my gramps. Been trying to connect beyond Frank's father, William for some time. Ran across John B. Rankin's will in LaGrange, KY which listed all his siblings which led me to your post. Any info you might have would be fab. Thanks.

I'm researching Rankine ancestors, and I've got a Wm J Rankine married to Margaret Cockburn on 3-Aug-1866 in Eyemouth. The marriage extract lists Margaret's age as 22, daughter of John Cockburn (grocer) and Barbara Hardie, David Cockburn & James Tait as witnesses. Wm J Rankine (baker), age 21, son of James Rankine (baker) and Jessie Eyre. Does anyone know anything about these Rankine's?

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Lonnie L. Rankins, 59, formerly of Muscatine, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, after a brief illness, in Las Vegas where he had resided for the last 17 years.

Graveside services are at Greenwood Cemetery.

There will be no visitation and the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Rankins was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Iowa, the son of Cyril and Gail Snider Rankins.

He was a corporal in the Marine Corp. and was a sharp shooter during the Vietnam War.

He served on the Muscatine Police Department and Sheriffs Department. He operated R&M Security before moving to Las Vegas.

He worked as a security supervisor at Studio 54 in Las Vegas.

He enjoyed traveling, riding his motorcycle and working with celebrities.

Survivors include a son, Mike Rankins and wife, Susy, of Muscatine; a daughter, Tammy Hartley and husband, Jeff, of Muscatine; four grandchildren; a brother, Tim Rankins and wife, Polly, of Atlanta, Ga.; and a sister, Judi Connor and husband, Kenneth, of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.

I am also searching for African American Rankins. My grandfather was from Paris, Kentucky. His parents were Henry Rankins and Sarah Norton. He had seventeen brothers and sisters. I don't know all of their names. His name was James. There was also Jesse, Frank,Edward and Fannie. Those are the only names I know. He left Kentucky in the early 1900's and moved to Springfield, Ohio with his infant son Edward. His wife died in childbirth.

MUSCATINE - Cyril Elwood Rankins, 83, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Lutheran Homes.

Private services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rankins was born on May 11, 1916, in Canton, Missouri, the son of Albert and Ruby Wellons Rankins. He married Gail Snider on March 26, 1941, in Davenport. He retired from HON Industries.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Rankins of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tim Rankins of Kennesaw, Georgia; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) Connor of Muscatine; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a granddaughter.

bevan,my fathers name was darl and his fathers name was albert.albert had 4 sons 1 died at birth they named him john. the other 3 was dale,darl,and charles and he also had a girl who died as a toddler by drinking gasoline by accident.

I am not aware of any Rankins in McHenry, but my parents lived in Palatine, IL for 25 years, Frank and "Bee Rankins. I am their daughter. My grandfather was from KY and my grandmother was raised in Iowa. Any relation?
