I haven't been able to find out the full name of the lady who married my grandfather, Edward Jarvis King b. 1862 MA around 1920. My grandmother had died in 1906 & apparently the Ms. Rannell & my grandfather had been writing to each other since he had left the San Francisco area by 1890, prior to his relocation in Washington DC in the Gov. Printing Office.
The marriage only lasted a few years & Ms. Rannell, then King returned to CA [I can understand preferring CA to DC]. She had been born & had a large family in San Diego.
Does this link to anyone?

Laura J. Irby in VA

RANNELLS & O'CAIN families of Franklin Co & Cumberland Co PA, 1750's

I am looking for others who are researching the RANNELLS and O'CAIN/ CAIN families of Cumberland Co. PA. which in 1751 became Franklin Co. PA.

I have been trying to tie my John & Elizabeth BRANDT CAIN of Perry Co. Ohio back to Pennsylvania. John and James Cain (prob. brothers) say they were born in the 1790's in PA. Because John & James Cain are such common names it has been impossible to figure out which Cain family they might be from. ( Elizabeth is from the Ludwig Brandt family which ties to Cumberland Co. PA)

I have just found some ties to John O'Cain of Guilford twp, Cumberland/Franklin Co. PA. The executors of John's will of 1751 was his brother Daniel O'Cain and John Rannells of Antrim twp, Cumberland Co. Back in Vinton Co. Ohio there are Rannells who are neighbors of my John Cain. James Cain's widow leaves all of her estate to a David Rannells.

With 3 connections it seems highly likely they are somehow related. If you have any info on these families I would love to hear and discuss them further.

Kare
I have information about Samuel & Jane Stranathan. One of thier children was named Mary (my gggrandmother), who married James Jordan Squier. We had Jane's maiden name as Reynolds, so this now makes sense. The Squier family also lived in Cumberland/Cambridge for a time, after migrating from Washington County, PA. JJ Squier and Mary eventually ended up in Kansas City, MO

I think that we are not talking about the same David Rannells. David Rannells died 24 Sep 1809 and was buried at Buffalo - Pennsylvania. Various deeds etc around the time of his death identify his children as William, Joseph, David Vance, Samuel, John, Sarah and Jane.

His wife was Ruth Beckett.

Two of his children, David Vance Rannells and Sarah Rannells migrated to Kentucky. The others migrated to Ohio. I know his son William lived in Guernsy Co. Ohio.

David Vance Rannells married Mildred Clarkson.

This David Rannels seems to be in the 1790 - PA Census - Cross Creek - as David Reynolds with 2 males over 16, four under 16 and 3 females.

There is another David Rennolds in the same census with 1 male over 16 and 3 females.

I have a great uncle by marriage, Robert Newton Rannells, who ran the Central Hotel in Rochester, Fulton, IN. He married Elizabeth Spencer who is sister to my gg-grandmother Sara Ann Spencer. There was a large family of Rannells in Fulton County beginning before 1860. John W. Rannells & Elizabeth had the following children:
Daniel A. 1855
James R. 1856
Mary E. 1857
Dr. Jacob N. 1859
John H. 1862
Lycurgus 1867

Dr. Winfield Scott Rannells was the attending physician at the birth of my father on 06FEB1903. I might have a litle more info on the Fulton Co. Rannells if you are interested. As far as I know the surname no longer exists in Fulton Co.

Rannells

I am seeking Rannells information on mygreat grandfather's ancestry. My grandfather's name was Rollo Randolph Rannells (b. 1882 in Tehama County, CA). His father (my great grandfather) was known as Wilse (Wilson Rannells. Wilson could have been his middle name and his first name could have been Jeremiah. I do not have a date of birth for Wilse, but I would tend to place it about 1840-50. He died in 1882, just before my grandfather was born. Wilse was married to Mary Jane Bonham and they had the following children besides my grandfather, Rollo: Warren Rannells (b. 1874, d. 1932); Velma Rannells (Hanson) (b. 1877); Hiram G. Rannells (b. 1880, d. 1903). My grandfather also had another younger brother, Brice Rannells who was born in 1887, but he had a different father. Wilse Rannells probably came to California in the 1860's or 1870's, but I don't know from where. I have been told that he came from Welsh Ancestry, but am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to find the parents/relatives of Eleanor Jane Rannells (March 1816 - Feb. 11, 1891). Supposedly, she was born in Kentucky and moved to Illinois (near Jacksonville) when a girl. She married Walter McCormick on 2/2/1840 in Morgan County, Illinois. They had six children. Any connections?

Rannells- William L, John D, Sarah M BROWNELL, Phebe A THACKARA, Isaiah Wilse, siblings of Charles S

Through pension records I have discovered a great deal about the siblings of Charles S Rannells of St. Louis MO. All of his siblings relocated to Tehama, Siskiyou and Solano Counties CA. in the late 1870's. I have posted the pension applications of John D. Rannells and Martin & Sarah BROWNELL in Siskiyou Co Boards. (Sarah mentions 3 children, Lloyd, Earl and Clyde BROWNELL) I posted the pension app for William L & Elinor (Prichard) Rannells in Solano Co. Elinor's deposition mentions a first wife of William L, Francis DICKERSON who died in Chester, OH in 1858. There is info on Wilse Rannells on the Tehama Co. board. Also on the Tehama Co board info on James RANNELLS son of William L.

I have two sources for Ruth Beckett.

One indicates that Ruth married David Rannells in 1769. Her father was John Beckett and her mother was Sarah.

I also have info re: a marriage to William Rannells. William died in 1809 in Washington County Pa and is buried in Buffalo Pa.

A history of Cumberland Ohio indicates that Ruch was married to William Rannells. What information do you have. Sorry I can't provide an answer to your question.

I have a fairly extensive history of the David and Ruth Beckett Rannells family. In addition to their children you mention, they had a son John (died at age 18) and daughter Sarah who was unmarried. Two of David and Ruth's children (Joseph and Jane) married Bays. Six of William's (David and Ruth's oldest son) 10 children also married Bays.

The Charles and Mary Jane Sutton Rannells you mention are holes in my information. Charles was the son of William Burt Rannells. William married Phoebe Bay. Charles had three children according to my records, but I do not have detail about them. Can you help me fill in these holes? Will share what I have with you as well.
