So I am related.

My ggrandfather William J Herman lived with his grandparents Jacob and July Ann Gruver since he was five until he was fifteen. And Elizabeth was Jacob and July Ann's daughter.

That's why when my grandfather Addison (George) Herman and great uncle Charles Herman mother Amanda died they were living with Hiram and Elizabeth Rasley.

But still looking.

Pat

I am not related to the Rasley's, but my grandfather George Addison Herman and Charles Erwin Herman my great uncle were adopted by Hiram Rasley.

They both keep their last names. I don't know when they were adopted by Hiram, except that they are listed as adopted sons in the 1900 Census for Lower Mt Bethel Pa.

1900 Census for Lower Mt. Bethel

Hiram--53
Elizabeth--54
Clara M--15
Charles Herman-16
Addison Herman--12

My ggrandfather William J Herman was married to Amanda Middaugh and she died in 1891, sometime after that he gave up his 4 children for adoption. George and Charles adopted by Hiram and his wife, John Arthur was adopted by Paul Albert and their sister Anna Sabine, I can't find who adopted her.

If you have any info on any of these people, please e-mail me at mierkepatricia@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Pat

Wow! Maybe we have connections, Ron!!! I do not know who the parents of Alex
Raseley were, but here is what I have so far:

In 1870, Alex was 29 and married to Mary Miller, in Williams Co., OH. Also in
1870, there was a John Raseley and family in Bridgewater, Williams Co. John's
wife was Catherine, and their children living at home were: Wesley(?)- age
27, another son- age 26, Ardelia- age 6, Stephen- age 23, Lorenzo- age 20,
Susan- age 16, and Emma-, age 18.

Do you think maybe Alex was the oldest son of this family?

I also have a record of a child named Miller M., born 2-2-1876 to Stephen
Rasely and Eliza A. Wallace, in Bridgewater.

Hope to hear from you soon- Annie agr16ter@aol.com

I tried to email you at RonRSooby@compuserve.com, but it bounced back twice.
Hi Phyllis,
I'd love to share information. Their doesn't appear to be a right way to spell Rasley. My cousins and I have found over 2 dozen different spellings. Our side used Rasely more or less until late 1800's when it changed to Rasley. I'm assuming that Matthias and Daniel are the sons of Henry and Elizabeth? What format would you like my file in? It's very large! I prefer GEDcom if possible. You can contact me at my regular e-mail address: RSooby@compuserve.com
Can't wait to hear from you. And I have 2 cousins who still live in Northampton county who are going to love hearing what you have. Especially if you have pictures and stories to share. P.S. It appears your a D.A.R. Cousin Gwen is working on getting all the proof together to prove that your eligable for membership.
Ron

Hi Ron, We are actually descended from two of Henry's boys, Mathias and Daniel. Mathias, Daniel and Maria moved to Butler, PA in 1838 to 1850. They purchased a farm in Connoquenessing Twp. A good many of their descendants still living in the area. I have a little on your line - John Rasly and Maria Sandt. Am I spelling the name correctly and is this the right John. I would very much like to exchange information. Phyllis

Hi Phyllis, nice to see your post. To be accurate Johannes was born on July 27, 1758 and he's my direct ancestor as well as yours. His brother Johan Heinrich was born Feb. 17, 1761. His son John (1793) Henry's (1789) brother is the line I come from. I take it your the descendent of one of Henry's 4 boys. Contact me and let's compare notes.
Ron, son of a RASLEY

Ah, so your a descendent of Edith Rasley and Fred L Hunt. She had 6 brothers and sisters. Your early info is just a little bit off. I recieved my info from William Dopke who I think got a lot of info from Elba Pysher. I don't know what you have on the Rasley's but I'm sure you have more on the Hunt's and their descendents than I do. So let's get cracking on filling in each others missing pieces.
You can contact me direct at : 73177.143@compuserve.com

Ron

John Henry married Maria "Mary" Magdelena Schmel - Children Henry, Jacob, John, George, Joseph, Margaret, Catherine, Elizabeth and Peter. We are decendants of Henry who married Elizabeth Reigel.
Phyllis, I seem to have the same information as you on the Hans Conrad Rasli family coming to the US, but I always assumed Barbara had died before he came with son Hans Conrad. I have more children for Hans Conrad ( born 1726) and wife Magdelene: John, Henry, Jacob, Conrad, Joseph, Catherine, and Elizabeth, along with their families. Which family are you descended from?
