Hi my name is Michael Ian Tobias my family the Tobias and the Guishard are from St.Kitts and Nevis. I am a researcher as well. I found a Slave document that had a Slave Owner on St.kitts call Stedman Rawlins. You may want to pick up your research on his family. St.Kitts isn't that big of an Island. You may have been a offshot of his line.

Most interesting and perhaps who I am searching for??? My grandfather's name is seemingly Zenith Leander Rawlins, son of J. A. Rawlins and Jospehine. Zenith Leander was born in Georgia and his first wife (?) could have been 'Minnie' - seemingly when the 1900 Census of Dallas, TX was taken Zenith, known as adult as Lee, was living in Dallas, TX as a boarder in the 6th Ward, and was widowed; however, there is a Lee Rollins (last name often spelled like this)also living in Dallas, same birthday and married to "Minnie" - two children: one girl (Sallee, 3) and a boy, (Tommy, 1). Confusing for sure . . . Thanks for your info on Jospehine . . . this is helpful!

John Rawlins (1715)

I have been researching the Rollins/Rawlins/Rawlings name to trace my great grandfather Silas Rollins. I found and added much information from other trees online here. Just recently I found the Rollins/Rawlins family book by John R. Rollins and in seeking to add/reconcil info there have come across, well, many discrepancies, but this one is key to my line. I'm not sure how the author compiled his information, though I am sure it wasn't easy and is as complete as he could make it back in the 1870s.
Thru James Rawlins & Deborah Peavey, everything seems to match if not a bit incomplete. The differences being that online there are two additional children listed that are not in the book, one of them being the John Rawlins that continues my line. So I am curious where anyone got their information connecting this John Rawlins as James and Deborah's son.
Also, as for John's wife....somewhere I seemed to have seen the name Sarah Jones (though I can't figure out where just now), but I also see his spouse listed as Mary Jones or Sarah S. Prevatt.

To clarify the original post. Nathan Rawlings, father of Zan Rawlings, was born in Illinois (probably near Lawrence County) about 1829. I arrived at this date by comparing his age at various times from the mid-1870's to the mid-1890's as documented on medical examination forms in his military pension file (of which I have a complete copy). His father was Michael Rawlings (b.about 1785-1845), who was son of Nathan Rawlings (1750-1821). Nathan (b.1829) was NOT married to Philena Ames. There was a Nathan who married a Philena Ames; however, THAT Nathan was the son of Benjamin Scott Rawlings (1799-1846), who was another son of Nathan (1750-1821).

George Pendergraph Rawlins (1873-1932)

I'm looking for information on my third great-grandfather, the father of George Pendergraph Rawlins. The younger Rawlins married Mary Maude Wyatt around 1902, and they had ten children, with nine surviving infancy. According to this George Pendergraph's death certificate, his father's name was also George Rawlins, and his mother's maiden name was Johnson. The surviving Rawlins child (she's 96!) doesn't know and says she doesn't care - she's "not interested in the past," which was a common attitude among George and Maudie's kids.

My cousin believes George P may have lived with an uncle named Nathan Rawlins before he married, and that his parents died when he was very young. George was consistently listed as born in Louisiana. On two of the three census records I have, his father was listed as born in Louisiana, and on the third, he said Ireland. For his mother, I have one with Louisiana, one with Ireland and one with England. George had settled in Texas - Hill County and Somervell County over the years - by 1902.

I'd appreciate any information anyone has.

"Zan Rawlins father was Nathan Rawlins. His mother was Malinda Autry Price Rawlings. He a son of Michael and Jennie Johnson Rawlings and she the daughter of Alexander and Ann Unknown Rawlings. This info was provided to be by Rawlings researcher. There is more, please e-mail me a for further info. I also have pics of Gravestone from Briartown Cemetery for Zan and his brother Benjamin Scott Rawlins who married Mena Holt. Family tradition has it Mena was a cousin to Verna "Nora" Shetley, but I have not been able to establish that relationship as yet. There is also an unmarked grave by them that I believe is their father Nathan.Nathan may have been married 4 times. His wives may include Philena Ames,Rhoda Ann Foster Smith,in 1873,she died in 1880. They had a daughter Mary Smith. On Dec 13,1890 in Briartown,he married Eliza Catherine Lile Chastain. She died abt 1913 in Claremore Oklahoma.Nathan Rawlings was born abt 1825 in Lawrence County Illinois and diedMar 11, 1898 in Briartown ,Oklahoma."Zan" and "Nora's" daughter Huda Rawlins Sheridan was my mother-in-law.I believe we have communicated before and you sent me a picture of Nora and your grandfather.

Where is Webster in relation to Delaware County Ohio. Census shows my grandmother living in Delaware Ohio in 1930 and there was also a Rawlins in Delaware Ohio too in 1930
