Charles Raye, Rockland, Maine and Boston, Mass. (1884)

I have no connection to this family, but found this while doing other research. This appeared in the Mar. 18, 1884 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Courier Gazette in the Men and Women column:

“Chas. Raye, recently with Fuller & Cobb, went to Boston last night, having secured a position with R.H. White & Co.”

Re: Martha Raye

Am trying to find out more about my Gt Grandmother Catherine,Finnigan,Dutton, Reed. the Irish Grandmother of Martha Raye. My Gt. Grandmother was born in Ireland,(Father. Michael Finnegan). She married my Gt. Grandfather Dutton and they had three children, one of which was John Dutton, my Grandfather. After he died she remarried to a Peter Reed, and their son, also called Peter was Martha Raye's Father. Catherine appears on the UK Census for 1881 but after that there is no trace. Did she travel to America with her son Peter? I hold copies of marriage to Peter Reed' and census copies including their children. I only knew Martha Raye as 'Aunty Martha' and she met up with family when over here at some time.Does anyone know if Catherine is listed in Martha's family tree?

Hi again, no my family line is in some of the other family trees but not in all. Some of the O'haras and Marrs have us in it now.
I will have to send the tree in bits since i have done so much work and have over 1500s names in it. but i will send your line again as well as mine so you can see how we are related but, im going to send it to your e-mail address instead of posting it on this. so if you could send me your e-mail address that would be great to mine.
My e-mail address is: fawnsfamilytree@hotmail.com
on the postin it shows yours so iam going to try and send your line that way now so let me know if you got it then i will send the rest that way to.
Cuz fawn Laffin

Merrily RAYE Clarke

Looking for my first cousin, Merrily RAYE Clarke, born Toledo, OH, June 25, 1942 to Arlene Helen DeGuerre and Donald Ross Clarke. Donald and Arlene were professional ballroom dancers and Donald ran the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the Commodore Perry Hotel in the early 1940s. The family lived on River Rd in Maumee. Since the name RAYE is not in the Clarke side of the family, it's possible that Merrily was named for her maternal grandmother-- Arlene's mother. Arlene was born Appleton, Wisconsin, about 1915.
Hope to hear from you.

Ed, I was inquiring on behalf of my husband,Ron Raye, its his father that was William Douglas Raye. Unless the spelling is somehow messed up his surname ends with an e on the ray, so I don'think it the same line, but if by chance you have dropped the e from your last mane, then you would have several possible siblings, so let me know.
Relatives of James "Francis"

I am trying to trace information about my Great Uncle James "Francis" Raye..
BUT we are not sure of the spelling. It may be Rea, Rae, or Ray.
The story gets a little hairier here...His true last name is Fish.
During the Depression (as I understand the story) he and his brother-Leonard William (Fish) Locke, Sr.) were put up for adoption; Leonard was adopted by John Mattie Locke of Indian Lake area. J. "Francis" as he was possibly referred to did not get adopted and took the last name of Ray (sp?).
James Francis lived in Long Island, NY and I should have cousins living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Any help contacting family for history swapping will be appreciated!
