Silvio,
I am sorry I do not have any information regarding Alessandro or Silvio. However, my Great Grandfather Beniamino Re (father, Antonio) was born in Mattie in 1894, immigrated to US in 1914. The address listed on the ships manifest was in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if it is near Heilwood, but it I do know it was a mining town. He did not stay long in PA. There might be some connection...

Hi, i'm also looking for relatives and when i saw your message, i had to know more. I know from what my father once told me, and that was that his parents had 18 children in Licata Sicily, and coz my grandmother was so young when she had them and also ignorant, that some of her children were taken. From that i mean, one or two at birth were taken by others who didn't have children of their own.
I also know that one of my dad's uncles left for the states long time ago, when my father was still very young, and my father was born in 1921, that uncle was never heard of again, apart from one or two letters. I think his name could have been Jiusepe (Joseph). My grandfather was (Alessio Re) all lived in Licata, which is a province of Agrigento in Sicily.

Hi Michael,
As you can tell from the other people I have talked with over the past years.I have no other information about my Grandfather, only that he came over here from Italy around 1880-1888,as a child.I did find a ships manafest with two adults and about five or six children under 10 years of age.Go look under the ship "Stella".See if any of the kids could be an ancestor.I think Francesco was my Gandfather Frank Rey and his sister Margret.Look at the 1930 census and you will the names there.Take care and good luck

Re Family

I am helping a friend search for his family. His grandfather was Joseph Re born about 1877 in Italy (he has no idea where in Italy) Joseph Immigrated to USA in 1902. His wifes name was Lonesa or Friizo born about 1879 in Italy and immigrated in 1905. One daughter was born in Italy. Her name was Lena born Abt 1900 in Italy. It seems that the family landed in Stockton, California. Lena had married a Vasoli and Mary who was Joseph's second daughter was born in Stockton and she married a Moreno. Any help with the Re family would be greatly appreciated. My neighbor has no relatives living to ask anything of and it is only what he knows. He is wanting to find out about his mother's side to see if he has any relatives living. His family was not that close. Thank you in advance for any help that is sent.

I'm hoping to get very specific with my Grandmother shortly so that I might have more info for you. I was always told that these Re families came from Cuggiono (northern Italy).

I was allways told the Rey,s were from the San Remo area.We think our grand father came over from Italy in the late 1800 hundreds,as a small boy.We think the people here changed his last name from Re to Rey.You can look at the 1920 census in New York city, and see the family as I know them.

In checking the message boards, I saw a message you had posted way back in 2001. As you were writing from Susa, perhaps you can provide some information about your area.

My Great grandparents were ENRICO LUSARDI and LOUISA LUSARDI LUSARDI. Yes, her name as a single and as a married woman were the same. Family tradition holds they were not related, but I am not sure as I do not have marriage certificates nor immigration papers. They came to the U.S. probably before 1892 and as early as 1889. ENRICO was in the Swiss Guard - we have a picture of him in uniform. He died in Massachusetts about 1895 or 1896

They both came from the town of MONTE SOUSA. This is how my grandfather said it was spelled, but perhaps it is correctly spelled as SUSA. My grandfather said it was very close to the French border, so close that his parents spoke both French and Italian.

Do you know of this town or where exactly it is or was located? Old maps have not been of much help. I would be grateful for anything you may be able to tell me about the area.

Thank you. I am a researcher from San Jose, California

My fathers youngest brothers name is Walter,my dads name was Vincent(Bunny). I believe we may be related as I remember hearing that my Uncle Walter was married to someone other than the Aunt that I grew up with and remember. My fathers parents names were John(Giovanni) and Gertrude, and all together there were 15 children. John was married once before, was a widower with 8 kids, and married my Grandmother and had 7 more. My father was their 5th, his brother Walter was the "baby".

I am looking for information about the Re family, which eventually settled in Chicago. Benedetto Re (b. 1886 in Italy)and Rose Marie Sansone Re (b. 1892 Italy) immigrated to the US in 1905, and Ben's brother Paul Re (b. 1883 Italy) and wife Sarah (b. 1885 Italy) immigrated in 1898. Benedetto had 8 children: Margarite (b.1914), Vincent (1915), Josephine (1917), Nary (1920), Eugene (1923), Anna (1924), and Alfred (1927). Paul Re and Sarah had a son, Vincent, born 1903 in Ohio. Benedetto and Paul ran a fruit business in Chicago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
