Hi David the last e-mail I got from you was in 2006. Anything new on the Reay family? Did you ever find the parents of your ancestor Samuel Reay?
I recently revisited the tombstone of Edward Reay's wife who died in Decatur,Michigan in 1865. She was born in 1789 in Ireland. I now believe she was a Bellingham. Do you still live in Ireland? I had thought of giving a scholarship to the High School student or students that could write the best genealogy of the Reay and McAdams families. Documentation would be an essential part of the paper. Do you think it would be productive? How much should be offered? We may find some new relatives?
Ray McAdams, 1826 Ebenezer Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Hello, Charles – your post is quite old, but I’m hoping you are still monitoring the boards. I am looking for descendants of (or anyone researching) the line of Nellie Cora Reay. Nellie was born in Dresden, Maine, around 1879. Her parents were William Reay and Catherine McCoy. Nellie’s father was from England/Great Britain and her mother was from Canada. By the time of the 1900 census for Alna, Lincoln County, Maine, Nellie was living with her mother and her step-father, Charles Lowell. Nellie married Frank Elmer Morse on September 1, 1903, in Alna. Nellie and Frank relocated to Massachusetts where they had at least two children, Katherine Mary Morse and Louise Morse. Frank Elmer Morse was born around 1863 in Massachusetts to Nathaniel Morse and Mary A. Nelson. Please contact me at jsalus2@verizon.net. Hoping to hear from you soon!

I met her in the late 50's early 60's. I am wondering if the families are connected. Lizzie and William were my great aunt and uncle although I never met him.

Hi!
I have info on the family! John was married to Mary Ann Lenox on May 25th 1851 at St Mary's church Gateshead. I'm currently waiting for a copy of their marriage certificate but think that his father was called George and was married to Mary Gingles on 6.11.1820 at St Mary's. He was a waterman (keelman) and lived at Pipewellgate according to the 1841 census. I have found an entry for a Christening of a George Reay at Gateshead on 10.9.1786. His father was John.

With all the Georges and Johns it does get quite confusing! But I hope this helps.

Best wishes

PS I have also found an entry for the death of John Reay on 6.4.1865 aged 44 which fits in with the family story that George's father died when George was very young

Hello,

I am also looking for a great-grandfather Edward F. Buell, but he died in Oregon in 1917. I can't find research on how he died yet, but he worked in a sawmill. He only appears in 2 US Census's, so I wonder if he went by a different name or came from out of the country (although my uncle, who is stuck on this ancestor, says we are descended from the original William Buell of CT).

It's probably a different Edward, but if you come across any research that sounds like this guy, could you let me know? He apparently moved to Oregon from Iowa, and possibly Michigan where his mother was born.

The 2 Census's contradict each other, so I'm guessing he forgot the details, or his wife filled it in and she was mixed up.

In once instance, he was born in Michigan, but on the other, it was Iowa.
In one instance, his mother was born in New York, but on the other, she was born in Michigan.
In both, his father was born in Vermont.

I'll let you know what I find about the other Edward Buell in Oregon (I think the county from his death index was Clacamass or something like that). Bye!
