Greetings:

I am looking for information on a James Clyde Reed. He also was known as Clyde Reed, and J.C. Reed.

He was born approximately 1910, probably in Missouri.

His Father's name was Lawrence, who lived on Vandevere in St Louis in the 1930s.

Reed spent much of his life in incarceration for various crimes.

I realize this is not a lot to go on. I am researching the 1938 Midwest crime spree of St Louis desperadoes John Couch and James Otis Meredith, and Reed was a companion of the pair on part of their journey.

Click on "effiemn" above if you want to email me directly. Thank You!

I am still looking for the parents of William M. Reed [1777-1829]who m. Mary Harper. Mary was d/o William Harper & Nancy Faris, both b. in Berkeley Co., VA. There is a William Reed in Berkeley Co who lived in the Back Creek valley and was a member of the Back Creek of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church. There is also a Davis Reed b. in Berkeley Co. 1794 who m. Mary Bryan, d/o Henry Bryan and Elizabeth Sparks. Davis was a weaver. He m. Mary Bryan [1798-1882] b.Clark Co., KY and m. m. 31 Dec 1820 in Warren Co, MO. Their children are listed:
William M. Reed, b. 1821
Elizabeth K Reed, b. 1821
Hester Ann Reed,b. 1823
Mary Sparks Reed, b. 1824
William Henry Reed, b. 1826
Caroline Reed, b.1828
John Darst Reed, b. 1831
Marsella Esther Reed , b. 1843

Names are so similar to those of William Reed & Mary Harper's chidren that there may be a relationship but I have no proof. The question of David's birth is intriguing. He in light of the names of children may be s/o William M Reed but still no proof.
Joe Williams

My mother was Samantha Caroline Mullins, daughter of Jasper Mullins. She was born in Toms Creek, Virginia, near Colburn.
Her father Jasper was a Mullins and her mother was a Mullins of another branch. I have traced my grandfather back to the Isle of Mann, around 1630 or there about. But my mothers side runs out with her grandmother who was the daughter of a full Indian. I called chief Joseph of the potamic tribe and gave him my grandmother name.. he said they were not of his tribe.then I called someone he suggested and was informed she was not of the black foot tribe but most likly of the cheerakee tribe. I have not had time to pursue it further. I don't have my papers handy to give you the name of my grandmother right now but when I find them I will send them to you 'if you are interested'. and please if you find anything that might be of help to me I would appriciate an update. Thank you so very much

I'm searching for my grandfather, Elwood Reed. Born February 17, 1922 in Fleming County, Kentucky. His first name could be under "Kenton" Elwood Reed. Son of Leslie and Amanda Ethel Gregory Reed.

My dad passed away in 2008 and I was told that Elwood was his birth father. Elwood is listed on my dad's birth certificate as well.

I'm very interested in talking with anyone who might have some information on Elwood. I've been told he may possibly be alive, but when searching information on his brothers and sisters, it appears he has passed away.

I may be reached by e-mail at: a.kelsey@moreheadstate.edu

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank You So Much!

My parents live on Leander and Mary Reed's farm in Indiana. I am descended from William Hudson Reed, Thomas Martin Reed's brother. My mother has the family Bible, and a family picture of all the boys and Caroline, the only girl to live past infancy. I think Mary is also in the picture and Martin's picture was added, because he lived in Nebraska at the time of the picture. We actually have quite a bit of information and pictures. Leander and Mary are buried in Goodland. Feel free to contact me.

Indiana Reeds Help!

I am trying to locate my great grandfather Alfred Jackson Reed. He was born in Indiana. On every census record I have found he said his parents were born in Indiana. He came to SE Missouri fairly early by the age of 15-16 I think. He was working on a farm by that age. He went by his middle name Jackson a alot. He was married twice. First to Maggie Stubbs, then to Viola Caroline Gibbs Duke. From census records I have found some Jacksons and some Alfreds. I can not find the names of his parents anywhere. I have seen an Alford Sr and a Alfred and a Abrahm I thought might be a father but I am not sure. I really need Help on this one.

I would love to compare notes & photos with you. Did you get my message directly to your contact name? I am still working on scanning all the photos.

I also am in the process of transcribing Emma's 1880 diary. She spent several weeks with the Reed's while mother Reed was sick. She mentions several Reed's by name and speaks of a Johnny; I'm not sure if that is your grandfather or her own brother.

Hello and thank you,
Yes, it is still my address and yes, I am still trying to find out more. I have always been told (as are many, I'm sure) that there was Cherokee Indian on my maternal grandmother's side of the family. She was a Webster through her father, whose mother was a Reed. According to my late grandmother, the Reed mother-in-law (Mary Louise Reed Webster) did not like her daughter-in-law, Emma Dean Harbin, and considered the Harbins beneath her. I was hoping to find that the Reeds may have some Cherokee blood.
Thanks!
Terri
Robin,
My boyfriend is a direct descendant of Nicholas and Harriet Reed. We recently visited one of his cousins and he scanned some family pictures of Nicholas, his wife and their children. We would like to make contact with you or some of the other family members. We would like to tie up some loose ends and find out some unanswered questions. Please email me at soonerbred66@yahoo.com. We will also share the pictures with any of Nicholas's descendants.
I am looking for any information on my Great-Grandfather Ernest George Reed, who was born in Sept. 1878 in England. A friend sent me some information that could possibly be my Great-Grandfather. The information indicated an Ernest Reed, born in 1878, shows a John and Elizabeth Reed. The census infomation shows it was recorded in Rotherfield,Sussex,England. It indicates his father as being from Buxted, Sussex, England. If anyone can help, please let me know. Thank you.
