The oldest entry I have is Isaac Boone Reeve born August 2, 1767, died 1850, married to Kesbus Karen Kapuck Reeve. My family's lineage comes from Hurum Edgar Reeve, Isaac Boone Reeve's son. Does anyone know where the "Boone" name comes from?

That's very interesting. I wonder where Wines and Leah would have met. I only know of two places Wines lived, North Sea, Southampton, Long Island (Suffolk Co.) and Rensslaerville. Rensslaerville attacted a large number of young people just starting out because they could rent the land. I believe there may have been some promise of owning it in the future as well. Wines older brother Bethuel married Nancy Mackey and they followed several of the Mackeys to Rensslaerville. Rumsey followed Bethuel, met and married Abigail Woolsey in Rensslaerville as well. Abigail's father Henry Woolsey came from Ulster Co.
I don't remember seeing any Vantines in the census records nearby the Reeves. In my experience, family tends to stay near family or in-laws. I haven't located any marriage records for Wines, but I always assumed he married in either Suffolk or Albany counties. There is however a large portion of his life unaccounted for. I also have wondered why is was buried in North Sea rather than in Rensslaerville like Bethuel. The census record you cited shows he owned his land in Rensslaerville. He must have left a will, and curious that the Rensslaerville historical society has nothing on him, when they had quite a bit of material on Rumsey and Bethuel.
Ah the never ending chase of genealogy, one answer leads to a dozen new questions...

Oh, this is quite interesting, there is a Leah Vantine in the 1840 census, living alone next to Bethuel Reeve. So that is where they met.

Another tidbit, she is listed in the Probate index here:
http://files.usgwarchives.org/ny/albany/wills/indexes/testat...

REEVE, BETHUEL RENSSELAERVILLE 21-436
REEVE, LEAH RENSSELAERVILLE 21-263

They are both in Volume 21, Leah is on a page before Bethuel who died in 1868. That Volume contains 1867-1869. So I assume that Leah must have died in Rensselaerville abt 1867 before Wines who died in 1878. It would be interesting to obtain a copy of her will.

Actually, i've come a long way since this post. Wines is the son of Joel Reeve and is buried with Leah in the North Sea Cemetery. You can see the headstone here:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=re...;
His parents Joel and Anna are also there as well as brother Jeremiah and other relatives. Joel is the son of Bethuel Reeve, but I have not been able to determine who Bethuel's father was.
Wines was named for Anna's Maiden name, Anna Wines. Wines was a younger brother to my Rumsey and the eldest son Bethuel. About 1800 Bethuel followed the Mackeys to Renslearville and Rumsey and Wines followed him. I don't have a great deal more information than that. Bethuel and Rumsey are very well documented at the Renslaerville Historical Society but when I contacted them about Wines, they had no record of him. I've been chasing a side line to Betheul that in hopes of dicovering his parantage. Unfortunately, it has not panned out. Wines and Leah are another big question mark I have yet to chase down.
Strangley Joel's will, or at least the abstract makes no mention of his older sons. The abstract only mentions some of the younger daughters, Wines and Jeremiah. Joel had a very extensive family, some 10 or 12 children, many females, who have been difficult to track. The main evidence for Wines being Joel's son comes from the History of Southampton:

Reeve Family
For a long time the descendants of James Reeves of Southold have spelled the name Reeve. Bethuel Reeve of Southold town bought land in North Sea in 1758 and resided there. He was of about the fourth generation in Descent from James.
1. Bethuel d. 1782, had w. Mary and ch. 2 Joel b 1755, 3 Silas, 4 Daniel, 5 Zebulon, 6 Jeremiah, 7 Keturah and 8 Bethia.
2 Joel d. Dec. 14 1831, had w. Anna and ch. 9 Bethuel, 10 Rumney, 11 Wines, 12 Jeremiah and 13 Jetur.
12 Jeremiah had ch. 14 Jetur, 15 Barnabas, 16 Jeremiah, 17 Frances, 18 Bethuel, 19 Josephine, 20 Charlotte and 21 Charles.
From: The Early History of Southampton, Long Island, New York with Genealogies by George Rogers Howell, M.A. (Yale University), 2nd ed., pub. 1887 Southampton, Long Island, New York,

And from the Records of Southampton:
The book of records of the town of Southampton : BOOKS 1, 2, 3 and 4 - 1st book. 1639-1660 -- 2nd book. 1660-1717 -- 3rd book. 1717-1807 -- 4th book. 1809-1870, AUTHORS: Southampton, Henry P Hedges, William S. Pelletreau, Edward H. Foster, including all the writings in the town clerk's office from 1639 to 1660: with other ancient documents of historic value, Sag Harbor, N.Y.: J.H. Hunt, book and job printer.

In the back of the book among some miscellaneous documents is a class list for North Sea School Taught by William Lemuel Sandford Quarter began 29 Sept. 1795 Ended 15 March 1796. The first six names on the list are as follows:
Bethuel Reeves (would have been 12)
Phebe Reeves
Rumsey Reeves (correct spelling on the first name this time he would have been about 5)
Orinda Reeves
Polly Reeves
Bethiah Reeves

Abstract of Joel's Will:

Abstract of Joel Reeve's will from Elizabeth R. Van Buren's "Abstracts of Wills Recorded at Riverhead, Suffolk County, New York."

Liber F - Joel Reeve, of Southhampton, 19 June, 1827. "I must shortly bid adieu to all terrestrial objects and put my house in order." Bequests and legacies to wife Anna, to son Wines, and to daughters Manda and Clarissa, with personality. Use of half of realty to wife for widowhood. Residuary estate to son Jeremiah, who is executor with John White, 2nd. Wits: Wm. S. Pelletreau, John Rogers, Edward Hunting. Pro: 19 March 1832. pp 258-260.

Seeking information which links James and Eliza Reeve to my grandmother Gertrude Emma Izzard. They have at least 3 children, Arthur 1877 (Walthamstow, Essex), Gertrude 1882, (Walthamstow, Essex), and Ethel (1887 Tottenham, Middlesex). Arthur and his sisters are listed as "second cousin" to Gertrude Emma Izzard, and on the 1911 Census and they reside (without father James) in Edmonton District, Subdistrict East Tottenham, County Middlesex. Gertrude Izzard is age 11.
Gertrude Emma Izzard born Hertford 1900. She is the mother of my father, Douglas Frank Turnham (DOB 1921 London). Gertrude Izzzard first married John G. Mason in 1918, and possibly had a daughter Margorie R. Mason in 1919. By 1920 she had remarried my grandfather, Frank Edward Turnahm dob 18 April 1897 Greenwich, London, divorced approx 1924, and I believe subsequently married David Watkins in 1928.

Cannot locate on 1901 England Census.
I am a granddaughter of George Westfall Reeve. I found the census for George Reeve 1850 Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County, Indiana family number 1382. the next family is George Westfall. Sorry I took so long to reply, I remembered seeing the entry but thought it was a later census and did not have a copy and couldn't remember the details. Hope this helps.

Cathleen, Hello
We have been in contact before and I lost information on my PC . . .so am starting over with ancestry. . .
Yes, we are related. John Brown Reeve is my Grandfather's older brother. My Grandfather is Dr. Delos Norton Reeve, born in Iowa and attended Geo. Washington Med School, in Washington D.C, when great grandfather worked there in Dept of Argiculture, in 1869. My grandfather married, May Belle Lantz and they had a son, Charles Morton Reeve (b.1895)before returning to Iowa to practice. My grandfather had 2 older sisters, Ettie and Effie and twin younger sisters Lena and Lola(sp). My mother, Elizabeth May Reeve is Dr. Delos Norton Reeves daughter who was born in Allison Iowa in 1914. My grandfather passed in 1925.

If you have any detailed information, about my great Uncle John Brown Reeve, I would love to read it. . . I know he was married, had children, lived in Des Moine when he died. I have a picture of all 6 children but no real information on the rest of that generation of the family.

Looking forward to our next conversation. Happy Holidays,
Gail

Isaac Reeve Suffolk County New York 1800

I have a bank document from about 1880 for my g.g.g.grandmother Ency Reeve- on this document from Riverhead, Suffolk County, New York, she listed her parent's names as Isaac Reeve and Annie (Howell) Reeve. In the early census records in Riverhead there is an Isaac Reeve with a wife and four daughters - no sons. Because of the lack of a male descendant, I am having a lot of trouble identifying this Isaac Reeve and from who he descends. If anyone has any ideas - thanks
Barbara Ristow
Just noticed your tree w/Reeve. My family is related to John Reeve b. 1854, Plymouth. One of Vivian's brothers. He emigrated to Cda with Vivian in 1871, raised his family in Chatham, became a lawyer. One of his sons, Eliot Murray Reeve, was my grandfather (also a lawyer). He died rather young in 1925 when his daughter was only 5 years old. That is my mother, Peggy (Marguerite Reeve). So I never knew him of course.
There are other brothers and sisters who remained in UK after the parents died in 1869 & 1871.

Looking for any information on James William Reeve b.1836, son of James and Jane Reeve of Leatherhead, Surrey. Civil engineer, married 4 times, had many children, spent time in India and Australia, second wife, Lydia Laura Roope of Tasmania. I am most interested in any information on his third wife Maude b.abt 1859 in Devon, whom he must have married some time between 1875 and 1885. They had two children, Violet and Percy, and lived in London. I think Maude died between 1891 and 1895 but can find no record.

Hello,

I just started researching my ancestry today and thought I might save time by posting.

Does anyone have information on Robert Glen Reeve, born 4/12/1907 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin? He married Julie Gachos, had 2 children (John and James), and worked for Allis Chalmers. Bob spent most of his life in Milwaukee and the surrounding area (Muskego). He passed away in 1986.

I believe this info is correct, though I have some suspicion he may have been born in New York state. Also, I think he had at least 1 sibling, possibly a sister named Helen.

This is my grandfather so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeffrey Reeve
jeffreyreeve@yahoo.com
