Re: Regnier Families In North America

It is my understanding that the Mormon Church in Salt Lake has a copy of this book. My copy was handed down though family and it was a private printing by the Rev Martin Keith Hopkins in July 1975. He divided the families down from A-K as they came from several places in France. My father helped him research the families that came from LaRochelle, France - L.Acadie, Canada about 6 miles from St. Jean, through Bourbonnais, Ill. and into Kansas. My grandparents died in Wamego, Kansas after living many years on a farm out side of that town. The book has pictures, charts, maps, coat of arms, etc. and ended up being 176 pages long. It would be worth trying to get copies of the section from them, if you have the names of the family, as they would be easy to find. I hope that this has helped you in some way. They are a very interesting family with a long historic background.

Re: Regnier / Rinier
I believe we are related. My grandmother was Elizabeth (also known as "Liz" or "Lizzie" Rinier. She was born in October 1893. She died in 1960 in Teaneck, NJ. I believe her father was Franklin Joseph Rinier who died in 1909. He is referred to in one census as Frank J. and in another as Joseph. I knew at least two of my grandmother's siblings, Anna May and Christina who lived in Darby, PA all of there lives. I know my grandmother Elizabeth Rinier's mother was Mary, possible surname Egner, Eggner or some variant. Her father was Jacob Rinier Married to Anna Bleacher. There are so many Riniers in the 1800's and 1900's living in Pa right in Lancaster/Darby/Chester with many similar first names. I think I will probably have to go down there to look at church records and tombstones to find more. I am told one of the Rinier ancestors was a stone mason who made tombstones for soldiers lost at Gettysburg in the Civil War but have no records at all for this part of the family.

His father was Joshua Rinier, from N.J.,whose parents were said to have been French. Joseph Rinier was the father of Jesse Rineer.

Actually, Rachel Hurtin had three children: Peter (1688/89), Hurtin (b ?) and Elizabeth Rainier (Tuzoe). I am interested in the Hurtin Rainier line. I understand he was married to someone named Mary (no last name) and had a son named Joshua who was born sometime before 1729 (he is listed as a grandson in Rachel's obit.) If anyone has any info on Hurtin or Joshua Rainear, please let me know. Thanks!

Rachel Hurtin is the daughter of Jean Hurtin and Elizabeth Rocheteau She was born about 1666 in La Tremblade, Charante-Maritime France. She died in 1729 in Philadelphia PA. Her name was also spelled Rachel Rainior, she had one child Peter, grandchildrem Benjamin Tuzor, Joshua Rainier, Daughter-in-law - Eleanor and Mary Rainior. Based on Eleanor's likely age at the time of their marriage as well as her name (possibly after her maternal aunt Elline England Gouldsmith of New Kent Co. this womand could be the daughter of William Wells of Moyamensign and his wife Elizabeth Engalnd. William had some association with the Burlington Meeting of the Keithian Quakers 1692.

Hello Wendy, thanks for contacting me. I appreciate it. My sister is very close to Eugene. I am sure my mom remembers your family. I started researching our family a few months ago. My mom gave me Dorothy's name a Eugene's first wife. Eugene's granddaughter came to visit us at Christmas a few years ago, she was married and expecting her first child. She knew very little about Eugene (or the family) at the time. I believe they have connected now as I recall seeing her baby's pictures at his house 2 years ago. Lets talk more. My email is lindades264@yahoo.ca. Thanks again, Linda

P.S. I have been married to Gerry since 1982 and have 2 daughters. We all live in Calgary. Talk to you soon.

Hello Linda,
My name is Wendy Regnier Kinnee. I am your uncle Eugenes daughter. I'm not sure if we have ever met. My husband Keven recently started doing some family research and BAM! Regniers everywhere! You stated that your mom is Sheila and I have a vague memory of her cutting my hair when I was about 4-5 years old. I just had my 50th birthday. I live in Kamloops BC. I don't see my dad as my parents divorced when I was very young, and we just never made a real connection. My older sister Donna lives in Quesnel. Apparently there are "half siblings" around but have no clue who they are or where they live. Does your mom remember anything about our family? My mom Dorothy aka Theo also lives in Kamloops. I'd love to hear from you and maybe add to the family tree. We have 3 kids and 2 grand kids, plus 2 dogs, but they probably aren't that important. The dogs, not the kids . = ) I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely Wendy

I am looking for burial locations and obituaries, any other info on several Regniers. All are descendants of Felix Jr. Regnier and Sallie (Sickmon) Regnier (my great-great-grandparents). I have my great-grandfather's information, so these are his siblings.
I found four in the California death index online:
1. Elizabeth (Regnier) Gillespie Shannon Schneider (28 Sep 1864 to 16 Dec 1958), married 3 times, died in Monterey County California.
2. Carrie Regnier (28 Feb 1866 to 20 Mar 1958) died in Monterey County Calif.
3. Iva "Ivy" Regnier (13 Dec 1868 to 25 Oct 1969) died in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
4. Fannie (Regnier) Bigsby (26 Nov. 1870 to 13 Mar 1962 or 1967) died in Monterey County, Calif.

Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. I live in Nebraska, so it's difficult for me to research these.

I have a little info on your family. I have a copy of some of the pages of a Regnier Genealogy book published in the early 1970's. My great-aunt has the original copy, and she is in the nursing home so I believe my mom may have it.
Matthew Regnier (b. c. 1850) came from Belgium to St. Louis, MO. He married Mary Henenbert, and they had 6 children (listed in this book). No dates for the kids but in order: Paul, Leopold B., Antoine, John E., Joseph L. and Julia (surname DUGGER). Leopold had 6 kids: Matthew F., Clara BENE, Walter J., Olive E., Paula (STARK), and Paul F.
I think there is more info on this family in that book, but this is all I have copied.

His father Sebastien/Sebastian/Sepast (born 1798 in Triebswetter - died 1842 in Alexanderhausen), his mother Catharina/Katarina SAUTERELLE/SOTRELL/SOTREIL (born 1803 in Triebswetter - died 1834 in Alexanderhausen).
I would be interested in getting the down links of this Jakob RENNYE if he really is the describtion above. The aim is of course to make the connection from you back to 13 generations... in Lorraine (France).
Same logic for the 3 of us (Bret, Jmunn and I).
Thanks for your help. Regards.
Thierry REGNIER

Bret/Thierry (?)...

My grandmother Barbara Renje was born 413/1895 to Jakob Rennye (DOB 6/7/1870) and Anna Pittenbinder (DOB 11/14/1874) in Perjamosch (Banat). Jakob's father was also Jakob Rennye (9/25/1835). Jakob and Anna emigrated to the US (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) in the late 1890s with two daughters (Barbara and Anna) and bore two sons, George and Phillip while in the US. The family returned to Banat in 1911 or 1912 and re-emigrated to the US in 1921 with Barbara's husband Franz Nesizer (11/21/1890) and their daughter Anna (8/19/1919). They settled in the New York City area where they remained for the next fifty years. Anna is my mother.

Most records I have of the family lineage are extracted from the Perjamosch family records available at http://www.banaterheide.de/fambuch/perjamosch/perj_r_s/Fb-R1...
Hello, Thank you for your reply. I appreciate that you forwarded my reply to Raymond. Unfortunately, I do not know Raymond. My mother Sheila would know him though. I remember meeting aunts and uncles when I was a child but not after moving to Calgary. The exceptions being: Levi; Eugene; Clarence (rarely) & Tex (rarely). I was named after Williams daughter Linda - I barely remember her though. I reside in Calgary. Here is my email for your records. lindades264@yahoo.ca. Send a note when you like. Have a nice day. Linda DesRoches

I am interested in genealogy but have not done much with it for a couple of years.
Hello, I read your post and thought I would reply. My grandfather was William. Jeanne was my grandmother and she married a man named Marshall after my grandfather. We referred to her as Grandma Marshall most of my childhood. She lived in Vancouver. I did not see her again after my family moved to Calgary when I was 8 years old in the 70's. Granda Marshall was Metis. My father (son of Jeanne and William) is Andre (Andy) Regnier. My father passed away in 1985. Levi Regnier and Eugene Regnier are my uncles that are residing in Vancouver (sons of William and Jeanne). I have a book about the Regnier family that I purchased at a family reunion in Calgary about 30 or more years ago. It was written by a Reverend and has reference to royalty. But I do not recall the specifics. It is in my storage room somewhere. Geneology is not a hobby of mine. I came across your post while searching something else on the web. I thought I would reply. Please let me know if I can share any other family information. Bye for now, Linda

I have a very distant possible connection to the first wife (I think) of John Regnier.

According to marriage records, John Regnier married Margaret Moehn on 27 Dec 1919 in St. Louis. I have found a marriage between John Regnier of Jefferson Barracks, MO and Bertha Heady which occurred in Butler County on 16 Dec 1913. Bertha Heady Regnier died 10 Jan 1918 in St. Louis. I have a very distant connection to Bertha Heady.

Does anyone know whether the John who married Bertha Heady is the same one who married Margaret Moehn? Also, on the WWI draft registration for John Regnier dated 1917 it mentions he had a child. Does anyone know anything about this child and who the mother was?

Jacquie

Thierry, I would be very interested to compare information on the Regniers. My ggGrandmother never made it to America, she died in Triebswetter and her husbands and sons immigrated afterwards. Her sister did however make it to the US. I'm not sure if she came with her husband or met him here, his name was John Peruf. Where do your Regniers live? I heard there may be some relatives that moved to Szeged, Hungary.
Here is the lineage I have:
Nicolaus Regnier (*1797 +16 Nov 1847) oo Anna Maria Schreiber (*31 Jul 1802 +1 Sep 1883) they were married in Triebswetter 11 Feb 1819
-they had 5 sons: Thomas, Melchor Nikohl, Schimel Peter Nikohl, **Joannes Nikohl,** & Jakob

Joannes Nikohl oo Anna Kiefer 'Binder Nani' (*1841) they were married in Triebswetter 4 Jun 1861
-they had two daughters Katharin & Maria
Katharin was my ggGrandmother (*1862 +bef 1896)

My Triebswetter relatives moved to North Dakota around 1900.

Hello,
I confirm that RENJE or RENYE are variations of the original French Name REGNIER. The roots of the REGNIER who imigrated in Banat city of Triebswetter (today in Romania) are in Lorraine.
I take for granted that many RENYE or RENJE imigrated in Pennsylvania end XIX° century, early XX° century. I sent a few explanations to some US RENYE, but at the time beeing, I got no feed back. I am ready to cooperate in this matter, don't hesitate to tell me more about your REGNIER/RENYE/RENJE connection. Are you living in U.K. ?
Thierry REGNIER

Does anyone have any information on Agnes, Max, Rene or any other children they may have had. On their immigration document they state Kansas as being their destination and Max gives his occupation as Artist. I have been unable to find any trace of them other than their entry into America.
Hi Michelle, this is a very good question that I never asked myself. Is "de la Salle" Indian ? If yes, see I have a lot to learn. You can write me at laregnier@hotmail.com with more details.
Louise

That's pretty close to my grandparents: Noel Regnier and Marie Louise De La Salle. They were married in the 1920's and lived in Alberta, I'm also in Alberta. Could we be related? I am of Metis decent.
Michelle

Madeleine Regnier immigrated to AUSTRALIA

I am desperately seeking the information of my great grandmother Madeleine (or spelt Madeline) Regnier’s descendants. She died in Skipton, Victoria, Australia. I think she was born around in1860 probably in France/Switzerland. She married my great grandfather William Samuel Hocking (born in 1860 in Victoria). I have no idea the names of her parents. Your help would be very much appreciated.
