Just asked my mother-in-law where in Wisconsin. She isn't familiar with the name (her mother was the one collecting the cards), but she said that it would have been from "down home". a.k.a. St. Kilian, WI

Hope it helps!

My in-laws are in Green Bay (Brown Co) and their ancestors were in the counties surrounding. Counties that stick out (but this is both sides of the family not just the German side) are Brown, Kewaunee, Door, Fond du Lac, and Dodge. There may be more though.

My ancestors came from Austria and I would be interested in hearing from others who have Reindl ancestors from this area.

The last several generations lived in Vienna (since the mid 1800's), but the family was earlier found in Altenhof, along the Kamp river in Lower Austria and the records there go back to the mid 1700's.

Thanks,

John Reindl
Wisconsin

Reindl/Nachlinger family in Lavaca County, TX

I am interested in finding out information about Mary/Maria Nachlinger Reindl and John/Johann Reindl who lived in or near Moulton, Lavaca County, TX. They were married 17 Jan 1899 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moulton, Lavaca County TX. I believe that they had 4 children -- Lillie, Louis, Rudolph, and Elenora. I also believe that Mary's parents were Josef/Joseph and Elenora or, possibly Laura, Steckbauer Nachlinger. There is a good possibility that Joseph and my Nachlinger great-grandfather, Jacob, were siblings. I will be glad to share what family information I have with anyone who is interested. You can reach me directly at GOMACjdm@aol.com. Thank you very much.
Judy McCune

My grandfather was Russell Anton Reindl born Crow-Lake South-Dakota in 1911. He married Florence White from Jamestown PA. in 1933 and had four Daughters. Does this have any more connections than before.
Thanks Richard Eicherly
My great grandfather was Charles Reindl who was born
in Germany and died in Wisconsin. One of his sons' names
was Leo J. Reindl (my maternal grandfather) of Kenosha, WI. Perhaps, there is some
relation. I am getting no help from my mother. Do you have any
information about Charles? I have also found a Hugo Reindl
born in 1891 and died in Two Rivers, Manitowoc, WI. I have
not found a relationship yet. I was hoping to find his siblings
or children. Can you be of any help? If I should stumble upon
any links, I will gladly keep you posted.
Please reply....Thank-You
Jennifer Adams

Origin of the Reindl surname

Hi ~

I wonder if anyone has found out the origin of the Reindl surname. One German dictionary that I looked at noted that it was Bavarian or Austrian for "shallow sauce pan", while another German dictionaary claimed that it is derived from the man's name of Rein (Reinhold).

Any leads would be welcome!

John Reindl
reindl@chorus.net

I'm looking for information on Joseph Reindl (dob 3 Mar 1894) in Rosenheim, Germany. He immigrated to NYC after WWI. He died in 1967. 3 of his sisters followed him to the US: Rosie, Minnie and Jula. Joseph had other siblings that stayed in Germany. He married Maria Moertl, also from Rosenheim.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Michelle Reindl

I wish I had more names, but have had no luck in finding more info. My father-in-law claims most of his families' records were burned in WWII.
I know Joseph Reindl married Maria. (maiden name is not truly known due to spelling.) They had 2 children: Rodney Andrew and Linda. Mark, my husband is Rodney's son.
I know both Joseph and Maria were from Rosenheim, Germany and came here directly from there.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Sorry it took me so long to respond.
my reindalis the name of a farm in Norway. I'm told that rein is for or has something to do with reindeer. The dal indicates the area where the farm is at, its like we say east, north ...put the two together and its like an address. I have found Reindal as far back as 1600. Some of them ended up in Minnesota and Canada.
