Amber-yes we are related-you are my 7th cousin. I have your name on my file. You are 9th generation descendent of Peter Rench of Hagerstown, MD. More directly a descendent of his first son Joseph Peter Rench. If you would like, I can send you a pedigree chart of your family line. Send me a regular email so I can respond.

Sincerely,

John Rentch
john.rentch@gmail.com

I am not quite sure who you are talking about. As far as I know, my father did not have a half brother. For conversation sake, what was my father's name? I think you have me confused with some other Rench. Also, I spell my last name " Rentch ".

Trying to find info for my 84 year old father about his Uncle Henry Harrison Rench who he said was a police officer in IL. I found his WWII draft registration that did in fact list him as a police officer in Harvey IL in 1942. He went by Harrison or "Dutch". On draft card it listed an Mrs. Elsie Rench at same address but no relationship....assuming wife. Any info would be helpful.

Mary 'Polly' Rench married Hon. Jacob Rush, brother of Dr. Benjamin Rush, 17 Nov 1777.___ I have found three sons for Walter and Leah, none younger than the daughters: Dr. James RENCH 1730-1815, William born ca. 1738, and Richard b. ca. 1741.___ I show three daughters, Sarah (ca. 1745-ca.1767), Mary ‘Polly’ (1747-1806) and Nancy b. ca.1749.___ I have this anonymous quote from someone researching ‘Rench-Woodmass-Berkstrom’ which I’d like to track down:___
“Sloop POLLY entered at Halifax on 21 July 1764, Walter Rench, Master, Owner Joseph Woodmass, from Philadelphia. She is described as a sloop of 26 Tuns burthen, built in Marshfield, 1756.___
She cleared outwards on 2 August 1764, Andrew Berkstrom, Master (Owner Walter Rench) for Monte Cristi (Dominican Republic) with lumber and shingles. It appears she was in company with Ship ‘Chester’ - 170 Tuns burthen, Walter Rench, Master, and Joseph Woodmass, Owner. ‘Chester’ was built "Brittish".___
I do not see POLLY or CHESTER, entering Halifax again during the balance of 1764. I have no copies of documents for 1765 or later.___
This information comes from CO 221/31 in the National Archives, UK at Kew. Copies may be secured - visit their web site”.______

A side thought: Perhaps ships ‘Polly’ and ‘William’ were named for his children.
I am a decendent of Peter Rentch through his son Joseph Peter. I have a basic outline of how I got to be a Rench but I am hazy in a few parts. My line ended up in Calhoun County, MI and my grandfather was Leo L. Rench Sr. I want to compare to make sure I have the right data and share what I have with someone who might need to get to my end.
Thank you. Vivian ("Nanny") was my grandmother (father) and lived in our house off and on during my early years. She died in Mahoning County (OH) while living with Dad in Canfield, OH. Dad was an only child but as you can see, had plenty of aunts, uncles, and cousins. All the aunts and uncles have passed away. I stay in touch with one of Norma's daughters that resides near Cincinnati.

I found your John and Vivian in the 1930 US census.

In the 1910 US census, John Rench (16) is living with his father, Charles (65) in Dayton Ward 1, Montgomery County, Ohio.

In the database I received from John K Rentch, I found a Charles Rench, born abt 1844 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Charles Rench's line traces back to Peter Rench's (1699-1771) son, Joseph Peter.

If this is new information to you, welcome aboard!

Also, Vivian's parents' names are given. If you don't have those, let me know and I'll pass them along to you.

Marilyn (Mrs. Tom) Rench
mstulken@wi.net
