Renwicks of Sheffield 1770

Adam Renwick 1748 = Hannah Ward 1/04/1748

Hannah Ward was baptised on 1/04/1748 at the Cathedral, Sheffield. She married Adam Renwick on 4/11/1769 and they were the parents of Jeremiah. The name seems consistent with a non conformist family. To succeed in life it was important to be baptised and married in the Anglican Church. Jeremiah was baptised on 12/07/1784 at Upper Independent Chapel, Norfolk Street, Sheffield. He married Elizabeth Radford on 27/04/1806 at the Cathedral St. Peter, Sheffield. He was buried at St Philip’s Church of England on 12/10/1845 aged 61. Information about these families would be appreciated.

Henry married Alison Renwick in 1873 and they has a son Thomas in 1877. Thomas married Mary Jane Speir Mills in 1903 and had at least two daughters, Elizabeth (in 1914) and Ella. Elizabeth was my maternal grandmother.
Leanne

I'm taking a shot in the dark on this but the name James is a recurring name in my Renwick line and I'm just looking for possibilities. My line currently ends with Reverend John Renwick b. 1735 in Dervock Antrim Ireland d. 20 Aug 1806 in Newberry County South Carolina USA. John was a minister in the Anti-Burgher Church (Presbyterian)who supposedly was schooled at Glasglow University and was also supposedly a relative of James Renwick "The Last of The Covenent Martyrs". Another possible contact for you maybe Donna Duren who has the recurrent name of "James" running in her line..she comes from the Edinburgh area. Donn Renwick

Reverend John Renwick is buried in Cannons Creek A.R.P. Church Cementary with his wife and daughter MaryAnn. Stan Renwick, who lives and works in Newberry, gave me the directions to get there. It's down a dirt road, but it is and impressive monument. We were in Newberry in 2006 and found the town to be very friendly. The library there has a good size heritary section with lots of documentation on the Renwick family. If you visit my Renwick-Ziegler Tree there is a picture of the monument.

Reverend John Renwick's daughter Agnes (my ggggrandmother) actually signed her will and a bill of sale with the spelling of "wrenwick", but the monument to Rev. John in Newberry says "renwick". The settlers on this era and the next couple of generations were constantly changing the spelling whether by accident, training or design. Donn

Renwick/Burns familial relationship

David Renwick Burns was my gtgtgrandfather (b. NYC 1800;d.NYC 1877). He married first on 12 May 1825 to Ann Maria Grant (b. Albany NY 17 March 1805, d. NYC 19 Sep 1832). He married second on Oct 19, 1837 in NYC to Helen A. Day (1814-1890).

DRB's parents were Robert Burns (b. Scotland, d. West Indies, 1804) & Agnes Dillon(b. Newey,Ireland,d. NYC 20 July 1848). Ann Maria Grant's parents were John Grant (b. Grant Town, Scotland 1764, d. Johnstown NY 1852 & Ann Mills. John Grant's parents were Wm & Mary (McGregor) Grant

DRB's middle name suggests a familial relationship between the Burns family and the Renwick family. I am seeking any information bearing on such a relationship. Dick Burns

Hello Margaret,
My Renwick family came from Gateshead- James b 1832/33, son of Richard Renwick ,a chainmaker, mother Margaret Bolton James's father remarries Elizabeth Lisle in 1835 at All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
James married Jane Wheatley in 1854 Newcastle Upon Tyne.
