My husbands 3rd Great Grandparents were Joseph Resch and Theresia Gutman. Joseph was born 6 Mar 1797 in Breitenbrunn, Austria and died 9 Feb 1890 in Menasha, Winnabago Co., Wisconsin. Theresia was born 9 Jul 1814 in Breitenbrunn,Austria and died 9 Feb 1894 in Menasha, Winnabago Co, Wisconsin. They are buried in St.Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Their daughter Anna Maria married Peter Luis on 13 Oct 1864 in Nabob, Washington County, Wisconsin at St. Matthias Catholic Church and are both buried in the cemetery across the street. I do have more information about the Luis family if that will help.

Apparently Mary Resch, my wife's g g grandmother, was born in 1837, in Dudenhofen. And her mother, Magdelena Mahr, died in 1837.

Then her Father, John Peter, came to the United States (with Mary); and remarried.

The Resch Family from Louisville, Kentucky and Harrison County in Southern Indiana are from Dudenhofen and Altheim in Hesse Darmstadt.

The Original Reschs were Johann and his wife Mary Catherine; believed to be born in 17??.

Then came brothers: John Peter Resch: b. 1812 (Harrison County< in); and his brother George Philipp: b. 1818 in Germany. They are believed to have been in Louisville by 1840.

My wife's g g grandmother, was a Mary Resch, b: 1837 in Germany. Not sure who her parents were. I would like to get the birth record for Mary Resch from Dudenhofen Lutherin.

There is a list of alumni included that spans 1871 through 1927. Every page has been scanned, including the advertising. Even the ads have a lot of history. There are many autographs in the book. The book has all proper names OCR'd so that you can do a surname search in the searchbox at the top of the page.

RESCH Frank J. Resch, age 76, of Hebron Ohio, (Licking County) passed away October 1, 2010 at the OSU Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 21, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio.

Frank was the owner of Resch Bakery, a fourth generation 98 year old Family Business, founded by his immigrant Great Uncle, Frank Resch and Grandfather, William Resch.

Frank was a graduate of Aquinas High School and of The Ohio State University, School of Business.

He was an U.S. Air Force Pilot, Captain of a Strategic Air Command B-47 Jet Bomber in the 1950s, after which he became the proprietor of the family business.

Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine Resch; son, Frank X. Resch II and his wife, Kelly of New Albany, Ohio; daughter, Lisa Resch of New Albany, Ohio; grandchildren, Frank J. Resch, II, Michelle, David, Zac, and Alex; nephews and nieces; brothers, Stephen Resch and Bill Resch and wife, Pauline; sisters, Gretchen Kramer and husband, Ed, and Martha Garner and husband, Forrest; many beloved employees past and present and as well as his many customers throughout the years.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ida Resch, beloved son Thomas.

Frank's family will meet friends Wednesday, October 6, 9:30-11 a.m. at St. Catharine of Sienna Church, 500 S. Gould Road, Columbus, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
There will be a private family entombment at a later date by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME.
Friends may, if they wish, contribute to The Ohio State University Rhodes Hall Medical Center Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and Emergency Response Team (ERT).

I believe My family comes through the Joseph Resch/Barbara Geistbauer line, their son Martin Resch /Maria Schweiner. #1 son - Joseph Resch B. 18 mar 1846 married Magdelena Stadler , their #4 son Frank J. Resch is my grandfather.

Your Joseph Resch B.1797 and Theresa Gutmann, way earlier in time. But they must interconnect somewhere??

Hi Carol,

Yes, my Resch family was Joseph and Theresia Gutmann. They were my gggrandparents. They first settled in Dodge County then moved to Winnebago County where they stayed the rest of their lives. Many of the descendants still live there.

We have always suspected that our Resch family was connected to the families in Langlade and Shawano Counties but have not made any connections yet.

We have noticed that many of the Reschs from Langlade and Shawano counties had the same given names as our Resch family.

Where in Austria was your Resch family from?

Looking at Deutchlandsberg, Austria on the map, it appears to only be about 75-100 miles from Breitenbrunn, where my Resch family came from.

When was your Father and Gfather born? While looking at the Breitenbrunn church records, I noticed that there were no more Resch's listed in later years. I have always suspected that they moved some place new. Are your Resch's Catholic?

It would be great if we could make a connection.

Further information shows that Adolf Resch was born in 1900 in parish Arnfels.

Father Franz Resch Motner Johanna Schlag, Schwanberg, Deutchlandsberg, Styria, Austria.

Adolf married Anna Aldrian of Schwanberg area.

My great granfather "Leopold" dob:1865 married "Josefa Mirth" children I only know of "Franz dob 1884 but he had 10 brothers. They were/are in Michelhausen, Austria. My Uncles are Rudi of Seewalchen-A, Franzel of Michelhausen-A and Alfred of Baden-A. Franzel has 3 children. Gerhard, Dorli, Brigette. All still in Austria. Are we related?

My name is Sharon. In answer to your question, my mom's
uncle - Leo Walker married Edna Resch. Also my sister
is married to Charles 'Bucky' Resch. His mother is Isabel Keller who married Charles Henry Resch and is the daughter of Henry George Keller and Mary Anne Riddle. Isabel's grandfather John R Riddle, Jr is the brother of William Rufus Riddle. So there you have it!

Alvina Rasche is the one you are looking for and she was born in 16 december 1886, daughter of frank Rasche and Ida Lantangue, the way they wrote the name at that time was misspelled, it would be Francois for Frank but it name is Françcois Xavier Resche son of Louis Pantaleon Resche that I am pretty sure but I am still going to look there in between information missing for the family of Louis Pantaleon I have many information on him.

I'm currently researching my ancestor John Resch who lived in Columbus OH, Franklin Co.
I have a lot of info on him, one piece is a photocopy of a page from a book (photocopy made in the 1970's) of his biography. A hand written note on the bottom of the page says it's copied from "Biographical History of Franklin County Ohio, 1901". It appears to be a contemporary account of citizens of the era. John's info and picture appear on page 401. The copy of the picture is really poor. If somebody has a copy of this book and can scan that page, I would be most appreciative.
As far as other Resch family members go, I have some info on the Resch family going back 4 generations from John and would be happy to share it.

actually are available on microfilm....They seem to be

My father was Harry Joseph Resch born in Aniwa, married Anna Meidl from Phlox and they lived in Phlox. They are both gone now. My mom died January 2001 and my dad passed away November that same year. He had a heart attack, but I think that he died from a broken heart more than anything.

I do remember your parents. Unfortunatly I usually saw them at funerals. I do have a couple pictures of my grandma Barbara and a pict of her with I believe it's with her brother Butch. Standing infront of a sherrifs car.

I am looking for any information for a GEORGE RESCH of New York. My father was in the 963rd field artillery with him.
They lost contact many years back and he was wondering if he was still in New York or what. If anyones knows of this George Resch could you please contact me? He was stationed in Augsburg Germany 1953-1955 with Charles Long.
He worked for Kodak approx. 1956-57 and went to Mich St. approx. 1957-58. My father believes he is from Rochester, New York. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've been reading the various messages attached to this string about the Antigo (and other WI) Resch's. For what it's worth if this can help associated family researchers, many of those who emigrated from western Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) along the German (or Bavarian) border considered themselves Austrians, because Bohemia was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire at the time. Most of these immigrants were ethnic Germans, descendants of Germans from the provinces of Baden and (western) Wuerttemberg who re-settled in Bohemia in the late 1700s and early 1800s. So your attempts to link all these various WI Resch families is well founded - but those connections might go back further in Europe than you think. There are other named Bohemian families in eastern WI with the same characteristics. Wish your research efforts well.
