According to family stories,Julia Rideau's mother married two times.1920 census list parents: Louis Thiery and Elize Thiery(no maiden name).Other information lists parents as: Leonard Rideau-b.1872 and Mary Angelique Thierry. Father married second time to Louisa Seraille. I'm inclined to go with information of the latter because I have an aunt named Mary and one named Angelique.And the eldest son of one of my uncle's was named for one of Julia's brother's: Eddie. Would like to find the maiden name of Elize.

My father's name is Leonard Wayne Rideau.He was born about 1960/61.I'm his first child Leandro Wayne Rideau.He had a daughter with my mom,Barbara Searles,named Louisa Rideau.He remarried & had a son named Larendo Rideau & a daughter named Paris Brittany Rideau.He also gave his named the son that his wife was carrying when they met after him:Larenzo Rideau.

Hi everyone who is related to Zenon Rideau. I am a decedent of Zenon through Preval, Oscar SR, Oscar JR, Betty and then me, Haston. I have a nice oil painting of Oscar SR if anyone is interested. Of course, this picture is very special so you will have to prove your relation to get it. It you have any pictures, I would also love to get copies of them. I know your post is quite old, but I was curious. I am looking for more information on my rideaux side of the family as well. Would your father happen to have two sisters named Lena and Leola? Lena was my great-grandmother and leola (aunt yola) was my great aunt. I thought it was too much of a coincidence that Lena's grandfather was also Preval Rideau.

William Preston Rideau, born in the Chicago area, is my grandfather. According to the 1910 census both his parents are French Canadians. I have been trying to find the names of his parents. If anyone has this info I would appreciate hearing from them. He did marry Anna Fischer in illinois, moved to Colorado and they had 5 children. If anyone wants this info I would be glad to send it.

Nan Deuce died in Ville Platte in 1976.

Yes we are still having our Rideau(x) in Lake Charles in Oct. 1st & 2nd of this year on Pierre Rideau from Plaisance Louisiana.
I have not linked Antoine Rideau to my Rideau branch. They lived mostly in Plaisance, Grand Prairie, & Prairie Ronde area. They did have land holdings around Ville Platte, but I don't know of their connection to Antoineo and his family. His grand son Felician Thomas did live near Gradney Isle, which is in the area & my mother knew him , but did not know the connection. Good Luck GRM

My father was the only one of the brothers and sisters that had an x One of his brothers Marks Rideau was living in the settlement when he expired. I think you should know him, the other brothes and sisters were in Houston Texas

My g-g-g grandfather, Jean-Pierre Sam married Euphemie Rideau in 1856 at Lafayette, Louisiana. Her parents are listed as Louis Rideau and Caroline Francois Pitt(most likely Pitre). one of the witnesses at her wedding was Louis Rideau fils(her brother). I read somewhere that the father of Louis B. Rideau was a Treville Rideau. I am wondering if my g-g-g grandmother, Euphemie Rideau, is related to Treville and company. Shelley - I do not know if you remember me, but I would be your 2nd cousin. My grandmother was Adelaide Rideau's sister, Lillian. My mother was Dorothy (Dottie). I know that your dad has died, but I need to get ahold of your mother, Arlene. My mother just passed away and mother left her a very small sum of money in her will and I need to get it to her. Hi Howard,

Sorry I've been offline for about a week. Let's see, my side of the family is now all over California. My grandmother left New Orleans during WWII and met my grandfather here. My mother was the first to be born in California. We have a lot of cousins out here and many more in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and now I hear Wyoming too.

Our family names, in addition to Rideau, are Ray, Goudeau, Lacour, Llorens, Metoyer, and Dupre. I just got back from New Orleans where I met lots of kind-hearted, good, beautiful people. I'm so proud to be related to them.

I'm trying to find out if there are any Rideau reunions held. Have you heard anything?

The problem I am having is finding Sincee. Preval and Felicia had nine children, that is my great great grandfather. Sincee was one of his sons , but not listed. Maybe hisreal name was Cyrus. I talked to my aunt about this and she said i knew his name was Sincee. My uncle ( we called Uncle Con) was named after his father and his name was Sincee Rideau. If you lived in Palmetto you would hane known Marks Rideau , he was the oldest son on Sincee, and was living in Palmetto when he passed away--- about 1985..

The children I have on my Rideau tree are Jean Baptiste, Ophelia (My husbands great-grandmother), Alfred Segrin, Oscar, Cyrus, Marie Magdeleine, Aurelia, Marie, Rosa, Louisa, and Emerente. I have noticed queries showing one of the children as Sincee, who could be one of those I've listed. I am interested in finding a picture of Preval. I have one of Felica, who my family refers to as Felicienne.

okay--now tell me a little about you---name and where are you. glad iwas able to help. The Rideauxs are very intersting.
My father talked very little of his family. I was born and raised in Houston , Texas. We had aunts, uncles, and first cousins I never met. The only thing i remember my father saying about his family was he was going to take us to a place where the most beautiful girls in the world was and they were all our cousins, so dont get mess around with them.

Yes I found the information in the palmetto. Zenon died on march 11, 1882 , one of his legal heirs listed was Celeste R. Godeau.

Celeste Rideau Married Leon Godeau in 1855. They had ten children. Spelling of the name might be different.

Don´t believe everything you read. That lady also said that Zenon could have come from Cuba and changed his name from Reed to Rideau. There is a large grey area. Zenon was my Grandfather 5 generations ago. I am the son of Betty, daughter of Oscar Jr, son of Oscar Sr, son of Preval, eldest son of Zenon. I was fortunate enough to know most of my history growing up as a kid. The problem comes when you try to piece together the names from those books and the names the elders remember. Most went by other names (nicknames). I am living in Brazil and I will be back in La in 2 weeks. I would love to continue this. Feel free to email me...

yes--I got this information from the book (palmettothe early years 1803-1835) by cheryl bihm myers. I think the book is out of print. Also you can find informationin the book (creoles of color in the bayou county) by CarlA. Brasseaux, Keith P.Fontenot andClaude F. Oubre. You should be able to find this book.

My grand father name was Sincee Rideau the son of Preval Rideau. I was born and raised in Houston Texas. I begin to my relatives on the rideau side in the 50' when i came to San Francisco. My talked very little about his familly. You might no Marks Rideau (no longer living) that was my father brother. He was still living on the rideau settlent when he was killed in an accident about 1985. In fact I met a first cousin about six years ago.

My father, Warren Frederick Rideau, was born in New Orleans, LA on August 20, 1907. His father was William Preston Joseph Bernard Rideau, born in New Orleans in 1884. His father was William Preston Rideau who came from Chicago and settled in New Orleans. He was born in Canada. I suspect that your great-grandfather and mine are one and the same, and that he dropped the "X" from his name when he came to New Orleans. Here's what I have on the Rideau family in New Orleans: William Preston Rideaux married Adelia Philomene Tio, listed as a "mulatto" woman around 1880 and they had two sons: William Preston Joseph Bernard and Warren, who died at the age of 28 of tuberculosis. William Preston Joseph Bernard married Anna Wortman, whose parents were Ernest Wortman and Anna H. Colin. William and Anna had four children: Warren (my father), William, Harry and Irma. Irma, the baby, is now 92, and she is the only survivor. I have more information, and will be happy to provide dates and details, if you feel that we are related. It appears that we are! Any information you have on William Preston Rideaux from Chicago would be greatly appreciated. I believe he had a family there as well!!

My roommate claims to be a descendant of Zenon Rideau without an "X". From what he has told me he is from Zenon's first family of children.

I don't if he has any real family tree information beyond current relations to share though.

I really doesn't know where my grandfather Leonard Rideau was living at the time of his death all I know that my mom said the he was on the bus coming back home from work when he passed out from having an headache she said the he always gotten bad headache ... but my grandmother Pearl was in that tornado that touch down in lake Charles in 1957 that how she died. She was found in an ditch; it take the house and her too.I know that my mom always told us that her father move them away from his people.
