RIEDESEL Surname DNA Project

A DNA project has been launched for the Riedesel surname, along with any variations such as Rudisill, Rudisell, Rudasill, Rudesill, Rudicil, etc. The project uses testing on the male Y chromosome which is passed directly down the paternal line from father to son making it ideal for investigating surname lineages. The testing can be used to uncover, prove, or disprove connections between various Riedesel lines and to also give clues about the deeper origins of the lineages.

Project participation is open to any direct paternal-line male Riedesel descendant - i.e., a male whose last name is Riedesel (or any variation of the surname) or a male whose biological paternal-line ancestry goes back to a Riedesel but whose last name was changed at some point, such as due to adoption. Even if you are not a direct paternal-line male Riedesel descendant, you can join the project by sponsoring the testing of a Riedesel male from your immediate or extended family, such as a brother, son, father, uncle, male cousin, distant male cousin, etc.

Feel free to visit the Rudisill-Riedesel project website for more details:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/rudisill/

Also, if you are a Riedesel who has already had Y-DNA testing done at Family Tree DNA, you can log into your account and use the Join Projects link to join the Rudisill project.

Mike
Project Administrator
Rudisill DNA Project
Someone earlier referred you to my Riedesel website (www.riedesel.org) but
there is a lot more there than there was in June. I have a record of the German
ancestry of Caroline. Please get in touch as my records of the Texas Riedesels are spotty.

William RIEDESEL and Bertha WILM Riedesel

I'm researching my ggrandfather Carol Johann Wilhelm RIEDESEL, aka William, and my ggrandmother Bertha WILM Riedesel who lived in Dundee, Illinois, in the early 1900s. William died in 1922 and Bertha in 1938 but I have been unable to locate death and/or burial information. A cousin gave me the dates of death. Is anybody familiar with these names?

Many thanks.
