thanks for asking. I open the Face Book site: "Ringling, The Last Laugh," and the www.Ringlingbook.com on May 19 - the 128th anniversary of the first Ringling Circus. This will have the book intro, cover and an excerpt. It will also give the approximate release date (June 11). It could be later. It will be in Kindle and paperback through Amazon.

I will look for her married name or ask Betsy (my cousin). Salome was married in early 1930 at Ca 'd'Zan. I am Charles Ringling's Great Grandson. I am about to publish a novel on the family "Ringling, The Last Laugh."

Robert Scott Button sadly committed suicide in his thirties. I know I was told that he would stay at the Mansion in Florida. He would write to My Grandmother Naiomi Zeel while staying there.

I have discovered a curious anomaly in my family history. We have always thought my great grandfather's (Lee from Indiana) surname was Ringler, but on various census reports, he and two of his brothers (George and James, aka. Johnny from New Mexico) went by the surname of Ringling. Lee was born abt. 1885 and died about 1925. He is thought to be from Goshen, Indiana and married Freda Mears. His descendants went by Ringler, but this possible Ringling connection is quite interesting to me. Any ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated.

He was my father going by the alias David Karl Bronswood. Still have no info on his relatives though.
Yes, William I (1865-1945) & Hattie Bailey, William II (1890-1982) & Lena Beauernfiend, Fred & Bertha Ringling are all buried 3 miles from where I currently sit. They moved up here to Lake of the Woods from Tustin on Lake Poygan after fishing regulations there were tightened. Being active commercial fisherman they couldn't live with that. They arrived here in Warroad,MN in 1911. There is a definite connection thru Hattie. I have never heard of Allie Clark. Any more info would be much appreciated. I would also be very interested in getting a copy of the picture of Hattie as I've never seen one, nor has any of this end of the family that I know of. I'd be willing to pay any expenses of copying & mailing it. FYI, William I's father was Frederick Konrad? Ringling (1826-1890's) who served in the 5th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment "Reorganized" in the Civil War. He was injured in a battle near Fredericksburg, VA. He was crippled the rest of his life. Its my theory that Fred K was the Ringling Bros fathers brother (or their uncle). It is thought that the Bros grandpa was Freidrich Wilhelm Rungeling. I think Fred K was his son and namesake. I have yet to prove.

My mom just called wih more info. She checked some old fotos and found that my great-great grandma was Almary Sabra Bailey. She married William Henry Bliss. So her sister was Hattie Bailey. We have a copy of a photo of Hattie that belonged to my great-grandma Susie. on the back is written "Aunt Hattie Bailey Ringley Clark wife of William Ringling - one of the circus Ringlings." This would support a connection between your great-grandfather and the circusRinglings. It also says that Hattie had 3 sons- William and Freddy Ringling and Allie Clark. Do you have any record of this? I will still write to Pat for more info.

That clears up a lot for me because I found that william Otto never married. As for Hattie - My grandmother was born Bessie Dillman. She had 1 sister and 2 brothers. Her mother, Susie, later married a Paige and had 2 children- Lilah and Robert. She then married Mr. Strain. Susie's mother was either a Bliss or a Bailey. (Both last names are in the line). Susie's mother's sister was Hattie and she married Will and they had 2 boys - William and Freddy. Our family also talked about Hattie's husband being a relative of the circus Ringlings. I will write to my mother's cousin Pat (Lilah's daughter, as I think she has more information. But it will take a little while as she doesn't have a computer. The one thing that is obvious is that Your Great Grandma Hattie was my great-great grandma's sister. Tustin is about 25 miles from where I live and my grandmother grew up in that area.I will post again when I get more info.

The William Henry Ringling with sons Fred & William isn't the William Henry Otto Ringling of the circus bros. He is a fisherman from Tustin, WI who moved to Warroad, MN. His grave is here along with his sons & wives. He is my great grandpa. I am trying to prove his relation to the Bros but haven't found anything. It is said they were cousins. Otto of the Bros never had children.

The William you refer to isn't the William Henry Otto of the circus. It is known that the circus William never had children nor was married. William Henry (not Otto) Ringling (1865-1945) of Tustin, WI was my great grandpa, his son William II is my grandpa, his son Vance is my dad. It is said that William I is the cousin of the circus bros but theres no proof of that. Thats what I'm trying to find. I believe the circus bros dad, August, was William I's dad, Frederick's brother. Thats the connection I'm after. William I, Hattie, William II & Fred are all buried here in Warroad, MN. How sure are you on the Bliss maiden name? I thought I heard Bailey was her maiden name. Thats something I don't know. Do you have any other details about them?

I am trying to link William Ringling I with the famed Ringling Bros. The only thing I've found is a list of Famous Civil War Masons listing the bros and William and they're titles are "American Showman". But William is a popular name. Does anybody know if William I, married to Hattie Ringling, from north Minnesota, is a brother of John, etc.

Johann Ringling signed the enlistment papers of Frederick Sauegling in 1862 in McGregor, Iowa. Johann Ringling signs as the father of Frederick.

Johann Friedrich Sauegling was born in Wurttemberg, Germany in October of 1842. Since he was 19 years old at the time of his enlistment (under the age of 21 years) he had to also get the signature of his father.

Hi Jerry,
I am very interested in the Ringlings you communicated with that were from the Dakotas/Midwest. My father was related to Ringlings that originated in Austria. He died when I was an infant and I have been searching for his family for many years.
Hi Mary!
I guess that everybody with the Ringling name is somehow related, but it might be very distant. As far as I can find out my an great great grandfather must have been the the cousin of Charles and the other Ringling brothers (and sister). My problem right now is that I have not found his name yet, so if you know the names of August's (Gus') siblings please tell me.
If you are interested we can keep in touch - and compare notes (though I do not have that much).
Sincerely yous - Anne-Sofie
