What type of mid-1800s German mill could this be?

I could use some help in identifying what type of mill is depicted in a RITTER family heirloom hand painted cup and saucer. An ancestor owned a mill in Erfurt (possibly in Neuerbe area) in the mid 1800s, but I'm not sure what kind. Maybe someone here can help. Two buildings show in the background with green doors, a fenced in yard has wood planks and a large blue wheel of sorts and in the foreground are a number of tree logs stacked up and others being delivered. I'm guessing that it celebrates an ancestor turning 21 as those dates align, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts? I have posted pictures at http://ritterfamilies.wordpress.com/ and would love some feedback. Thanks, Richard

Sorry to intrude but there is a post that you are attached to & I have been working on this for years to no avail. I have very little details on my fathers side & desperately want to know where I come from. Tiny details, LOL.

What I know:
Heather Ramsey/Barlowe = Me (CA)
Thomas Charles Fredrich Barlowe = my father (NY)
Alice Emily Wohler = his mother
Friedrich Wohler = her father (aluminum foil connection)

Somewhere beyond this there is a rumor of a Christian Kent Nelson (Eskimo Pie connection) but this is just what I have heard.

Any help you could give would be more than appreciated. I've not heard of a mother or siblings.

Thank you,

Heather

Jesse Ritter, Jr. (b:about 1773) is the son of Jesse Ritter, Sr. of Moore County, North Carolina. Sarah Carthage Richardson is the daughter of Drury Richardson also of Moore County, North Carolina. There is a will in the North Carolina Archives for Drury Richardson and it indicates that he may have had two daughters that married Ritter men. There was a John Ritter who married an Elizabeth Richardson and then Jesse Ritter, Jr. married Sarah Carthage Richardson. The John Ritter Line and the Jesse Ritter, Jr. Line are direct matches with my Ancestor Everett Ritter who is believed to be another son of Jesse Ritter, Sr. - by direct matches I am referring to DNA matches done through the Familytreedna.com site. It is my belief that these Ritters may connect to Moses Ritter who married Hannah Bradbury of Wayne County, North Carolina. Am questioning whether Jesse Ritter, SR might have been a son of Moses and Hannah's ? Keep in mind only a theory on that one!

Jesse Ritter Jr. was the son of Jesse Ritter of Moore County, North Carolina. Jessie Ritter, Jr. married Sarah Richardson who was the daughter of a Drury Richardson of Moore County, North Carolina. There is a will for Drury Richardson in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jesse Ritter, Jr. and Sarah moved west and settled in and around Marion County, Arkansas where Jesse Ritter, Jr. died. We have had a Descendant of that family test with the Ritter DNA group out of Familytreedna.com and they are a direct match for the Moore County Group.

I am in possession of a Bible which lists Anna C.(could be I.) Ritter born 27 Feb 1840, William Hardy Ritter born 22 Nov 1841, Evrett Jackson Ritter born 11? Oct 1845(3), & Elisabeth Jane Ritter born 16 May 1846. Deaths - Anna C.(I.) Cook died 14 Aug 1860?, William H. Ritter died 30 Dec 1863, Evrett Ritter died 13 Dec 1863, and Elizabeth Jane Turnner died 20 June 1875. The handwriting is difficult to read, so some dates are uncertain without other proof. This family is on the 1850 Monroe Cty., Mississippi Census & is on the same page as the Hardy Allen family. I have some dates for them & the Chrestmans. Also, name J.W. Whittle in front of Bible. Happy to share info.

Barbara Ritter of Annandale VA

Hello
I was contacted by a gentleman about a Barbara Ritter from Annandale VA. She was 16 and he 18 when they met in 1966. He was sent to Vietnam for 2 years, and when he came home on leave after the first year, her mom wouldn't let him talk to her. I have very little to go on - their address at the time (7302 Valleycrest Blvd, Annandale) and that she was a senior when they met and was headed to Blackburg (Blackburn?) College. He visited her home a few years ago and a neighbor mentioned that she had died in a car accident 'some years before.' I don't know if she was married, and I'm hitting dead ends trying to figure out who her parents may have been. He recalls her DOB as Jan 1950, but says that might be wrong.
I found only two Ritters in the SSDI that list Annandale as last residence - Richard in 1979 and Ruth in 1990. From public record, the house was sold in 1985, and then again in 2008, so it looks like the Ritters weren't there after 1985.

I'm hoping something in this story rings bells for someone. The gentleman was exposed to agent orange in Vietnam and has developed cancer. His wife died in 2007 and he spends a lot of time wondering about Barbara, whom he describes as the love as his life.

I don't know Bill from Adam, but I'd like to be able to help him.

Thanks for any help
Tiffany Fugère, Colorado Springs, CO

Ritter, Ellis, Canfield, and Fondren lines of Benton, Camden, and surrounding counties in Missouri

I am trying to find any of the Ritter clan from Climax Springs, Missouri in Benton, Camden, and surrounding counties. There is a book of names, dates, and pics on this family but I live in OK and can't get to it. My sister says next time I'm in MO which will be in 2012 I can borrow the book to make copies. My mom was Zelma (Ritter) Canfield and I don't have any where to go from there other than her brothers were James, Robert, Johnny. Sister Viola who was in Kansas. My grandparents name were Charles Agustus Ritter and Ella C. Christopher. Names I can remember are: Gordon and Iva B who had Gordinia and Roberta. John Ritters all over the charts. Dorothy, Lewis, Wilbur Lewis,Charlie, Elmer, and Clarence. I have my dad traced back to the 1500's but starting to get more on my mom. My memory is so bad. All I remember is that they were from Climax Springs and that their old homestead was the second house on a dirt road just off hwy. 7 north just before the Cemetery and just past that park that sits by Hwy 7 in Benton County. My mom was born in that house and it is no longer there but there's a house in it's place. I think I have pics of the house and some Ritters, Canfields, and Ellis, and others related. Just no idea who is who and any help trying to sort the pics out would be great. mo2ok@yahoo.com

Louise C Ritter and Viola Ritter

Looking for any information about my Grandmother Viola Ritter and her Mother Louise C. Ritter. I think my Grandmother was born in Illinois? I am beginning to suspect that my Grandmother may have been born out of wedlock. I have only found one piece of documentation that shows her birth and her Mothers name (LC Ritter) I would like to find out who her Father was, but that may be impossible. The next best thing would be to verify who the Parents of Louise C. Ritter are. I'm stuck!

What information is wrong?

We have Issac S. born to Benjamin F. & Nancy Caroline Joyner Ritter in Tippah, MS. Nancy was buried at Brannon-Joyner Cemetery Chabyheate, Tippah Co, MS.

Their younger children: Laura E., Issac S., Andrew E., Benjamin D., James A., John R., Nancy P., and George D., were sent to live with their uncle John N. Ritter, brother to Benjamin, following Nancy's death. We do not know how long they lived with him, but the children, at least most of them, re-appear in Arkansas with their father.

We have no children noted before Trannie Ladonia, because they were dead before Grandpa Walter E. Ritter was born. So none of the children, except for maybe Trannie Ladonia, would have known about them. It happens.

We have Trannie marrying Ephraim Goss, just no date.

I do not have any information on any of Benjamin Franklin's other wives he married after Nancy died in 1873, but my daughters do. I know he married in Arkansas, possibly twice. Again my daughters do have that info.

The Tribal records do show "an" Issac S. Ritter and his wife Molly Ritter in the Indian Territory. But they were NOT our Issac Solomon and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Floyd Ritter. The dates do not match as to years born, and location of birth.

Also neither Issac Solomon Ritter, Mary Elizabeth Floyd, nor Mary Cleveland Williams Ritter were members of any native tribe. Issac was of German descent and Mary Elizabeth was of Irish, and possibly English, descent. I beleve Mary Cleveland may have been of English and possibly Dutch descent, but there is no proven record.

Our information was from the family of Irvin Ritter (1908-1992) and directly from Revis Ritter (1910-2011), who were the youngest sons of Issac and Mary Cleveland Williams Ritter.

Evelynne M.
I have Isak and "Mollie" Ritter family as Johnny Franklin Ritter born 25 Oct 1883 died 6 June 1891. James Edward Ritter born 18 July 1886 died 26 May 1889. Elmer Lusindy Ritter born 5 April 1888 died 18 Jun 1892. Then Trannie La Donia, Tinnie Ritter, Walter Everett, Walter Everet, Clarence Columbus, Buelah,
Mary Cleveland had Sarry Mary H Williams born 24 May 1901 and Richard Williams born 05 Aug 1903. They had Earvin Haskel born 24 Aug 1908, Alpha Elizabeth born 13 Feb 1911, Grorge Revis born 2 Aug 1914 and Irene H born 09 Feb 1917. Anyway that is what my records show.

Tranie La Donia was my grandmother. We have some differences in information. First, if you check the Indian cencus of Oaklahoma Isaak or Isak and molly had two boys older than La Donia (Donie) who died young. My information has Mary Cleverland only having one son when she married Isak. My Grandmother and Isak -Mary both married on the same day. There is a picture of the family at that time. Do you have it?

Re: Any info on Bruce Ritter b. 1849 and Elizabeth Ritter born 1822 NC

Thanks so much for your reply and your help. Elizabeth's parents were William b.1796 and Catherine b.1822 Ritter. I actually have that line traced back several more generations. My grandfather was born shortly after Bruce left and we NEVER knew what happened to him. It has been the great family mystery. Now that I have found his gravesite and other info., I am consumed with the need to find more. I just have to think there are pictures somewhere of that family. I contacted the main library in Moore County and was told their geneaology person died. I guess I will need to go there, but would like to find some
knowledgeable contacts first. I have been told that Bruce and his siblings were born out of wedlock. The intrique continues! So interesting. Thanks again for your help. I may contact you again for help if that is o.k. Patty

Patty,

I noted your query about the Ritter family of MOORE Co, NC. We don't have details on all of the Ritter's but we do have info on a small selection of Ritter's that are possibly related to Elizabeth Ritter.

I need to recheck our records, but your Elizabeth may also have been related to the JOYNER family from Moore Co, NC. The Ritter and Joyner families intermarried through two Ritter sons and a nephew, the exact details we are still working on.

It is difficult to get a lot on the Ritter's of NC as much of their family history has been destroyed, re-written or otherwise lost; ex: a 200 year old Ritter family Bible was lost a few years ago in flooding in NE Oklahoma.

I will gladly help where I can.

Until then try the following leads:
- Look for any info on the Joyner connection from @1780 on;
- Check Ritter info in Mississippi from @1815 through to mid-1870's, in Alcorn & Tippah Co, primarily.

The RITTER family members split up after the Civil War, some going into Texas, some into Arkansas and from there into Oklahoma/Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, where we still live.

We have an address of some of the Ritter's in Texas who may very well be your lead for more details. I will get with my daughters and get the addresses from them ASAP.

You can email us directly if you like at the address below. Good luck!

Evelynne
oklady41@wildblue.net

Bruce Ritter was my great grandfather. Long story short, I have just recently discovered that he returned to NC after he left his Texas family. I earnestly seek info about this family beyond just dates. I so want to find a picture or family stories. Are there family history books on Moore County NC that might help me? Thanks for any help. Patty Pickle
