I can't help you in identifying the photo, but, hopefully, you can help me!

Please see my post on the Escambia County, Florida board regarding Frank and Susanna Rooks Rivers.

Are you by chance related to the Frank Rivers I mentioned in my post? Since you mentioned both Bonifay and Pensacola in your post, I thought perhaps there may be a connection.

Hi Lisa, We are related on the Rivers side of the family. My great grandfather is Joseph Rufus Rivers. Thanks to your clue of Joseph's sister Julia marriage to Lewis Greenwood. I found that Julia's mother was living with Julia and her family in Barnet Caledonia, Vermont for the 1880 United States Census. Jula and Joseph mother's name is Sophie Rivers 86 years old, born: 1794. Now maybe some one could possibily find who Sophie rivers husband was and we can continue the Rivers Family Tree.

Good Luck Cus
Jim

Bettye,
I have exhausted my resources looking for your Mary Rivers Lester. I can not find any documentation for her parents. My suggestion would be to locate her marriage record to George Lester, which I am assuming, based on my research would be in Natchitoches Parish. If they were Roman Catholic, they catholic church kept marriage records which 90% of the time listed the bride & groom's parents. The nearest catholic church would have been in Natchitoches Parish back then, as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church was founded in 1871 and St. Joseph Catholic Church was founded in 1881. Good Luck! Let me know if you find her parents, there might be a link among our Rivers families!

Cody Bruce
codybruce@hotmail.com

I don't; but I would be interested to know as well. I have been trying to find out about the "Choctaw" Rivers, unfortunately I keep coming up with dead ends. My son had DNA paternity testing done so that I could have the documentation. The results that I have do not show anything remotely close to E1a1, or anything else for that matter, other than that he is his father. I wonder if I need to have a different type of testing done?

My Son is the Grandson of Joseph Harvey Rivers and Great Grandson of Clarence Joseph Rivers. I knew that this line was Choctaw due to the stories told to me by Harvey and his son. Therefore, I applied for Tribal Membership through the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb and received my sons membership card in the mail just a few days ago. I am unsure of which line you are seeking, but I will be glad to help with what I can.

Sherry

Hi

I have a Susanna (susannah, Susan) Rivers born abt 1750. She married a Eberhart Schmetzer (Smetzer) at the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Clerkenwell, on 20/8/1780. On Ancestry it has her as Susanna Reevers, but she signes as Rivers.

In 1808 i found them in records of the Old Bailey, (26th November, 1808.The Proceedings of the Old Bailey Ref: t18081126-23). In this it stated they owned a shop that sold calico, in the Hackney ares.

Susanna died and was buried on 21 Dec 1834, at St John the baptist, Hoxton, Hackney, age at death 83.

I think she was born around the Hackeny area.

Do you have a Susanna Rivers in your tree

Darryl
I am sorry I did not see your query sooner. Lewis and his wife Sarah Davis Rivers and many of their Peacock and Bradbury relatives are buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Jackson County, Florida. To go there, go north from Mariana on HWY 71 to the little town of Malone. Go west there on HWY 2. It has been a long time since we were there and I cannot find directions that I should have recorded!!! As I recall, you travel west for 2 - 6 miles. I do not recall any sign at the turn. Turn north on an improved dirt road and go another 2 - 6 miles. This road will turn east briefly and then back to the north. You will first see the little church building on the left and then the cemetery right across the road. The church was still active when we were there about 8 years ago, so I am sure if you have trouble finding it, someone in the area will give you directions. The cemetery was very well cared for. They whitewash the tombstones. I have never seen this any where else.

Good luck and enjoy! It is a lovely peaceful spot. I wish we could learn why Lewis was so brutally stabbed--
Anne

I have been seeking information about my son's grandfather who was said to be Choctaw Indian. As of today I can confirm that Joseph Harvey Rivers, his brother William Arthur Rivers, and their father Clarence Joseph Rivers are of Native American descent. They're registered with the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb. I can also let those know who are interested in this line the registry shows that Clarence Joseph Rivers spouses were as follows:

1st wife - Evelina (nee` Meshell) Rivers and I know that she remarried James Leone who both passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana and are buried at Forest Park Cemetery. Evelina is believed to be the daughter of Mary (nee` Falcon)Meshell and ? Pete ? Peter?? Meshell.

2nd wife is Irma (nee` Vanasselberg) Rivers born Feb 25, 1913 and passed away Oct 9, 1992 in Alexandria, Louisiana and was laid to rest next to Clarence Joseph Rivers born Dec. 25, 1908 and passed away Oct. 29, 1992

Hi
My name is Sue. I have been working on my ancestry for several years now and searching for several people that I always seen to come to a road block at. Well I found several sencus reports last night that were kind of a break in the family block. I am searching for my ggrandmothers siblings and their offspring. I found that Mary ( Trombley) Tebeau raised one of her nephews named Clarence. According to the 1920 census he was 5 and I am trying to find if his father was Moses Trombley.Another sister was at the same time raising another child named Malcolm Trombley age 2 .Her name was Nancy (Trombley) Bachand. She was also married previously to an man named Safford. I am hoping that there are still relatives of these people living in the area of Malone, Owl's Head, or in the up state New York area. My grandfather was Marshall J. Rivers and was the son of Selina Trombly who raised her siblings after her parents died in the late 1800's. I am looking for any information on any of the Trombley siblings from this family. Their parents were Isadore and Malinda Trombley. Please contact me if any of these names sound familar to you Please !!!!!!!!!!! my e-mail is grandmab04@aol.com
The Birth mother listed is Helen Pretoria Wood Ace nee Taylor. The Birth record shows father Albert Rivers, Windo Cleaner, aged 33, birth place Marton. I estimate the birth year for Albert as 1894/5. I have noted a birth record on NZ IA Online BDM for a Lawrence Albert Edward b1895, I will order this.
Background
Helen Taylor had married a David Ace in 1921. Based on family chat over the years it is thought David and Helen's marriage went sour and/or Helen had an affair with Albert which may have caused the separation. David Ace a mining engineer was originally from Q'Land Australia it is believed he returned to Australia never to be seen or heard from again. Within the family there was little of no discussion regarding my Aunt Jewell (taboo subject) and she was raised by various related families in Auckland & Hawkes Bay. Jewell's birth mother Helen remarried to an Alexander Kerr and died in 1954.
I am seeking information on Albert Edward Rivers I have not been able to find any records or evidence that he ever married or died in NZ and have presumed he to may have left the country, I have searched QL, NSW available records without success. There was a record in 1915 for a Albert Rivers marriage to a Helen Clara South that I will investigate further. It is Albert's movements after 1927 I am trying to establish.

My Line of Rivers seem to start in Croydon, and then move into London. The earliest I have is John born around 1790, who married an Ann Ray. I can't seem to go any further back.
I would be grateful if anybody else has an info on this branch of the Rivers Clan they would let me know.

Many thanks

I wish you continued success with your Rivers family. I am a descendant of a Rivers family from Orangeburg, SC. They are African American. What is unique about our family is still today, red hair pops up in our family , I mean bright orange-red hair.(natural) I am trying to trace this back as far as I can. My GG-grandfather was Wallis Rivers (b. 1841) he married Jane Rivers, their children were Henry, Louis, and Henrietta. Walis's race is listed as MU. He could have mixed with Irish or Native American ancestry.

Hello, Hosea Rivers was the son of Pedro (Peter) Rivers, Pedro was the son of Manuel, and it is the concensus of several researchers that Jose del Rio and Juana Caro or Cano is the mother of Manuel... I was sent a genealogy chart back in the 90s from the Apache Choctaw Tribal office in Zwolle, it listed Antonio as Manuels dad, but the dates for the Antonio listed made him younger than the son. Manuel and Maria Lina Padilla did have a son named Antonio, I have the descendants of Antonio and I recently found a descendant to Peter and Antonio's sister Maria Joaquina del Rio...

The farthest that I can go back is to Manuel's father Antonio Del Rio who was born in the late 1700s. I think he was here as part of the Spanish missions during the time. I don't know anything other than that. I can give you the direct line from your grandfather to Antonio if you would like.

I have a copy of the geneology all the way back to Antonio Del Rio, who would have been Joseph (Hosea Del Rio) Rivers' great grandfather. In the geneology that I have it states that Joseph (Hosea) "met" Refugia (Micheli) Meshell. They had only 1 child - Ben. He "married" Nancy Anna Parrot. They had 12 children!

I am a direct descendent of Ben. He would be my great great grandfather.

I don't see where the family actually came from Spain but I do see some children being born there in my geneology list. The story that I was told is that there were Spanish missions in the area and that the Choctaw and Apache women and children were brought there after a massacre out west. This is where the intermarriages between the Spanish and Native American's began.
