Back Creek / Randolph County N.C. Robbins Reunion

We are looking forward to our 2nd Robbins reunion this year. It will take place here in Randleman again and sometime around the last of September or the first of October. I'll let everyone know when and where as soon as the details are worked out. Our first reunion last July went pretty well. Everyone had a good time.I enjoyed it alot and loved meeting new family members. I hope we will have an even better turn out this year. I should be posting something for sure in July . Audrey
PS,If you think your family is listed in the Back Creek book or your line is from Isaac Robbins (Randolph county) then this would be your reunion.

Hi, These Robbins in Lee County, Iowa are a puzzle right now. Maybe these Robbins families are the ones who do start to connect to yours. I hope so. BTW, are your Robbins families LDS?

Here is how the census is in 1850

1850 Lee County, Iowa Federal Census, District 29
HH#804/810
Charles Robbins age 38 NY
Elizabeth Robbins age 23 OH
Deborah Markley age 16 OH
[Calvin and Zilpha Haskins are HH#1104/1110]

1850 Lee County, Iowa Federal Census, Keokuk
Marum Robbins age 25 NY

Here is another Robbins marriage that I would like to know about---

Robbins, William married Thompson, Martha Ann on 10 Oct 1840 in Lee County, Iowa

It's Stephen. My Middle name is Reese after Isaac Reese who married Emma Alice Robbins.
I received the family tree, and I believe that your husband is related to Harvey Allen Robbins. My Mother Marjory Powell Cole was a good friend(cousin) to Allen(that's what we called him) and we met several times at Robbins reunions and at his home in W. Salem. I remember that he was very involved in Ham radio. I believe that Zelna is still living and we also met several times. I have pictures of those monuments and we cleaned them as well, although because Allen more recently passed, their stone was in much better shape than the others. It's wonderful to find a new found relative and one who is also interested in Geneaology.

My Family has used the same names for the last 150 years. Their father was Frank Daniel Robbins born in 1847 in New York. Could the Charles born in 1850 in New York be Franks brother and Mary Ann his sister?? My Robbins came across Iowa and settled in Omaha Ne. Frank and His wife are buried here. I am really reaching out now, I have had no
leads in the last 20 years on this family.

Barbara Robbins Damewood
bgdamewood46@yahoo.com

Does anyone know about Mary Ann Robbins who married John Haskins on 17 August 1845 in Lee County, Iowa? There is a Charles Robbins in the 1850 census of Lee Co. who was born in NY [age 38]. Could this be Mary Ann's brother? John Haskins may be the son of Lincoln Haskins and brother of Calvin Haskins of Lee Co. IA.

It's possible that her mother was named Rebecca Cantrell and her father's name was Joseph Robbins. I think the information is available online by searching for her name and Spartanburg, SC. I'm pretty sure they lived next door to her future husband, Dennis Candin Cantrell, son of Lanceford Cantrell. There was some kind of an issue about their marriage, maybe because they were cousins. I used to think she was part Black or Indian but I had my genes tested and it doesn't look likely. Possible she was Melungeon and had Southeastern European blood. I came up 30% on that. Let me know what you find out. Several of her descendants are tracing her.

Richard Robbins from NY late 1800s

Looking to find out what became of my grandmother's uncle Richard Robbins. He was one of 7 boys and the family lived in Oyster Bay, Queens, NY in 1860. His parents were Benjamin C Robbins and Philinda (AKA Viola) Nobles. All the kids were born in NY/NJ except Richard who was born in Wisconsin for some reason. (1860 census says NY but his family bible and mother Philinda says otherwise in a Widow's pension). Richard's birthday is February 5th in either 1855, 1856 or 1857.
Richard's dad died when he was about 7 years old and his mom moved in with Emil (AKA Frank) Seeley about 1875. They lived in W Hoboken, Hudson, NJ and Watervliet/Troy, Albany, NY. I am pretty sure Richard died before May 1937, as he wasn't mention in his brother William's obit.
That's all I know, so any help would be appreciated.

Robbins in Arkansas - check your dates!

Hi, if you are related to John Henry Robbins who was born in England and moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. You need to verify your dates.

I looked at my tree and was comparing it with others and realized many have the wrong date for the death date of John Henry Robbins that was married to Katherine Bowhal (the Indian.)

His son, John Robbins who was married to Elizabeth (Betsy) Echols, is the one who died Oct. 7, 1864. We know that John Henry Robbins died after 1860 because he was on the 1860 census and not on the 1870 census. It is confusing with both John Robbins dying in the 1860's.

I know there is a Robbins Bible out there I have a picture of it from many years ago, but it is very blurry. Has anyone got a copy of it?

Also, contact me and let me know which child you descend from if I don't already know. I've gathered quite a bit of info over the years, but would like to update it, besides we probably tie in on other lines.

Hoping to hear from you.
