Yes, my family tree is made up of William, Amos, Moses, and Isaac. And I am the product of three Cymreig famlies!

Always heard that "Jones" was the most common name in Cymru but here in ohio the most popular surname is "Evans".

But Cymru is only 80 x 175 miles in width and length, the other names didn't fit in...

RCR

Thank you...........I'm pretty sure I tried that and came up with nothing, but maybe if I try again, I'll find something! The thing about Wales is everyone was either a Roberts, Jones, or Pugh and they ALL had the same first names, haha! Oh well.......thanks again! :)

Roberts of Hartford, Conn. area related to Evans in the south of Wales

Recently heard from the husband whose late wife had submitted her brother's DNA to Ancestry.com which in turn was a match to mine three generations back. (The DNA was from "A. Evans".)

While her husband did not follow his wife's activity in regards to DNA he did tell me that he had once taken his wife to see an American relative who was visiting England.

He recalled the person's name as "N. Roberts" "from Hartford" (but there are many Hartford's in the US, so which Hartford? Hartford Conn.?).

Interesting since there is no knowledge of anyone in my bunch having visited that area, let alone fathering a child while there (same applies to having visited Wales).

Is there any chance that N. Roberts is reading this board?

RCR, Central Ohio

I had the same "brick wall" problem with my herd of Roberts. For three years I was stuck at the fifth generation back and was about to drop my Ancestry.com membership.

Went online the day after thanksgiving two years ago to cancel but saw that during the holiday someone had post the last person I had found (born 1803)on One World Tree.

Put that information on my tree and as soon as I did I received a link to the earlier members on the family who had been listed on One World Tree for some time. That took me back to Cymru ("Wales" if you insist on speaking "their" language) and that's all I was looking for, the date the family came across the ocean. Never looked any further.

I guess what I am trying to say is check One World Tree before you give up!

Does anyone have any information on Elizabeth Roberts, b. 1804 in Caernarvon, North Wales. She married Humphrey Pugh probably before 1831 when their first son, John was born. She had all her children in Liverpool, England and she died there in 1876. I'm "stuck" and can't get the generation before her.

TIA
Fred J. Roberts of Wisconsin

I am desperately seeking information on Fred J. Roberts, who is my grandfather on my dad's side. My father who passed in 2008 knew nothing about him, other than he was born in Wisconsin to French-Canadian parents, and came down to Florida to help establish Belandville, Florida. It was suppose to be a French-Canadian colony in N.W. Florida. I have found very little information on Belandville even, but nothing on Fred. He married my grandmother Sparta Bass in 1924 according to the 1930 census. It also reads that she was widowed at the time of the census. I have been told conflicting family stories that he had not died, but that because Belandville failed to flourish, it was abandoned and the people who created it moved forward to another area to start another town or colony. I'm told he asked my grandmother to go but she refused to leave the area near Belandville, due to the fact all of her family lived there. So, I was told that due to the fact she did not follow, it was easier for her to say she was widowed than to keep explaining the situation. Please, if ANYONE should have any information, please share with me? Any leads whatsoever would be great. Thank you very much.

I don't know if this is the same one or not, but I am desperately seeking information about my grandfather, who was Fred J. Roberts, born in Wisconsin, eventually moved to Florida to help build the French-Canadian villiage of Belandville. I only know the info I just listed from a census form. I know nothing else about him and cannot find info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nope sorry about that the website appears to have been hijacked. The web link was to excerpts from two books that chronicle the first welsh settlers and provide detailed family trees. You probably already have them they are "The history of Welsh Settlers in PA" and the history of Gwynedd. I can email the excerpted materials, if you like.

Received the info on Elizabeth Luzatti/Luzader and it was the clue that i have been waiting for years to find out Elizabeth's maiden name. Also it gave me new family members that i had no idea about. Abigail Roberts was my relative from Monongalia County, WV who married Robert Stewart after Samuel Crane died and connected later to my relatives in Knox County, Ohio. All the info sueparkins1 sent was a treasure,so don't ever give up on Rootsweb message board,it can be invaluable in making that contact for help.

Martha was way younger than my ggrandmother at the time so I know she isn't my gggrandmother by blood. There were other children in the family with different last names too. Vaughn was one of them. My great grandmother was a Williams at the time. Not sure how that came about, unless she had divorced, while at home with her dad (my g.g.grandfather). Any help is well appreciated. this is around South Carolina and Arkansas area. Not sure what martha's maiden name was.

Amy Darrow (Roberts) Treadwell B. 14 June 1819 D. 30 April 1910

I am looking for the parents of my ggg Grandmother. Other than her being born in Albany, Ny. I have very little info on her family or her life before she married my ggg grandfather, George Curtis Treadwell on 2 March 1835. I have a couple clues that I have uncovered recently and was hoping that some one may know the people names. In the burial plot at Albany rural cemetery there is a Randall C. Roberts D. 17 Dec 1901. The burial card says that he was 90 years 5 months and 18 days. So he would have been born around the end of June 1811. Based on the dates I guess he was a brother or cousin. He would have been a tailor in Albany and to my knowledge never married.

Also in the Albany Rural Cemetery I found an Azo(a)r C. Roberts born in Connecticut and his wife Maria (Bradt) Roberts who was born in Albany county, NY. Maria's Obituary says she was born in 1804 and she was related by marriage to Mrs. George C. Treadwell (my grandmother). I am guessing that they were her aunt and uncle but have had a hard time finding any other information on them. Do any of you know these people?

Jesse Roberts died before 25 Nov 1823. Found a Clay Co court record #378 with that date: Samuel Hacker and Chancy Hacker his wife to Pharis Roberts TR: in consideration of $50 - conveyance of "all their rights to the real estate of Jesse Roberts dec'd. That helps narrow down his death date. Hope this helps.

Re: Permelia Roberts (m. Aaron Smith c. May 1805)

ltmhoover (and any other cousins related through Aaron),

++ Since my original post in 2008, I have come to the realization that it is very probable that Permelia's marriage to Aaron was not the marriage for which he was disowned by the Quakers in 1805. I think he was married before Permelia and that this previous wife (whose first name is Mary, and whom he married in 1805) is the mother of Joel (my 2grGF) and Sarah. And, that Matilda is the daughter of Permelia and some unknown person prior to her marriage to Aaron. Then, after she an Aaron were married, they had Drusilla, Phebe, Lucinda, Louisa, and Elmira (not sure of exact order as I don't have not verified all the girls b-dates.)

++ The reason for this is two fold: first, Matilda's daughter (Emily)'s death certificate indicates that her mother (Matilda)'s maiden name is Roberts. This means that Matilda was most likely born out of wedlock to Permelia Roberts. Or, possibly that Permelia was married to an unknown Roberts and (unless he was a 2nd cousin or more,) Permelia's maiden name was not Roberts; and, who ever reported Emily's data didn't know that!

++ Second, I reviewed my old family scribblings and it does say the Joel's parents names were Aaron and Mary... I always thought that Mary and Millie were close enough for the person repeating it three generations later to have gotten it wrong! Now I don't think so!

++ I would be happy to collaborate with you (and would love to see Permelia's obit!!!)... my genealogical e-dress is still same user name, BoehmeFamily, and you can send messages to my mail box @ymail.com ...
Killed Instantly.

Richard Roberts was instantly killed last Saturday, while coming up on the skip at the Keystone mine at noon. He was standing on the bale and his clothes caught on the timbers in such a way that his body was pulled down over the edge of the skip, the upper part being held by the^ timbers while the lower part was over the edge of the skip. As the upward motion continued he was practically cut in two, death resulting instantaneously. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from the'M. E. Church, under the auspices of the Ancient Order of Foresters. /The deceased leaves a widow and three children

Amador Ledger, Volume 1900, Number 12, 12 January 1900

Needing info on Simeon and Adeline. As far as I can tell, both were from North Carolina and wound up in Hopkins County Kentucky. Last thing I found on Simeon was 1880 census. Can not find any death records on him, but apparently, according to Civil War Pension document, his wife Adeline (Jenkins) started "widower pension" in Sept. 1898. Last I have on Adeline is 1910 Census in Hopkins County, Kentucky and have yet to find any information on her death. Any info would be appreciated and I will gladly share any information I have in return.

Thank you for replying to my message. I don't think YOUR Amos Roberts is Permelia's father. I am searching for Jonathan and Elizabeth Roberts info. and trying to make a connection. Can't find anything yet that gives Permelia as one of their children. Rootsweb lists an Amos Roberts b. 1798 as their son. Amos and wife named a daughter Permelia. So maybe a connection? Will just have to keep putting out feelers. Someday I may get lucky. Thanks again.

Loretta

If you send me your email, I can send you what I have. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find Permelia's parents names!!! Any help would be much appreciated.
