Hi I think my Rodwell line might be the same as yours. My Francis Victor Rodwell married Sheila and had a son Karl. I wrote to them a while ago about my husbands father George Rodwell who ran away from home.It turned out that Francis was his younger brother. I received a lovely letter from Francis thanking me for solving the mystery of what happened to him. Is Francis still alive I feel a litle guilty for not keeping in touch. I hope this is the same family and I can help you with any info you need
regards Janet Rodwell

Hello Paulo..and anyone else looking at Rodwell, Dukinfield, Hind, and Greaves...I am 52 and have been researching my Greaves ancestors for over thirty years...trying to go back beyond my great x 4 grandfather John Greaves of Newark Notts who was married there in 1799 and owned a windmill there on Beacon Hill (address of property today is 150 Beacon Hill Road)I had not touched genealogy for a year or so, going through brain cancer, but treatments going very well. I have to sort out my website. I have moved and had to change email... rob.c.greaves@gmail.com is my relatively new one. I have a number of old photos I could send to anyone interested...just need email.

Rob Greaves
Ottawa, Canada

Hello Ida,

I've been doing some research for a friend of mine George Cressey, who's grandmother was Mercy Agnes A Rodmell, she married John Robert Ombler in 1903. Mercy Agenes A Rodmell's parents were John & Hannah Rodmell, John was a farmer. John married Hannah Mary Johnson in Hull in 1876. John Rodmell parents were William & Mercy Rodmell of Soffham Farm, Sutton on Hull. In 1841 William & Mercy had the Low Bransholm Farm, Sutton on Hull.
It seem's that the Rodmell's were a big name in Sutton on Hull running most of the farm's in the area!

Regards
Tollers

James Rodwell--St. Margaret Ilketshall, Suffolk, England

I am looking for any information on James Rodwell born in 1796--papers say he was one of 17! I believe he was an agricultural labourer and was married to Elizabeth Read? They are in the 1841 Census and had 7 children --the youngest of which, Charles, was a lock keeper in London in 1881. Any information on James, Elizabeth and any of the children would be much appreciated. I am researching their daughter Susannah Rodwell (aka Susan or Suzanne) born 1837.
caroldunn789@yahoo.com

Hi Rob
My name is Larry Priestman.....I live in the UNITED KINGDOM

I believe I have the clock which belonged to Christina Sandburg....This clock has a brass plaque inscribed as follows.

"PRESENTED TO MISS SANDBURG ON THE OCCASION OF HER MARRIAGE JULY 14 1909
AS A TOKEN OF AFFECTION AND IN RECONITION OF HER VALUED SERVICE AS ORGANIST
FOR SEVERAL YEARS AT CASTLE SQUARE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH WISBECH".

Also on the back there is a fairly modern label of a clock repairer, his address is in Poole in Dorset
This also ties up with Matilda Ann who died in Poole on 5 February 1950.

I purchased this clock at a Antique fair yesterday 25 July 2011 in the UK.
And after researching the brass plaque saw your website...

And of course found that this clock is part of your family history.
Thought you would be interested. I would be if it was linked to my family.
The clock is solid walnut, in fantastic condition and fully functional...it has a wonderful Westminster chime...
It is stunning, considering the clock is a hundred and two years old.

Really hope to hear from you soon.

yours sincerely

LARRY PRIESTMAN
I am researching the Rodwell family of Warren County, North Carolina. My Grandmother was Elizabeth Gardner Rodwell born 1917 in Warren County, N.C.Who married Harry Norvell. I am trying to gather all the info on all the Rodwell's as I can. So far some of the info does not fit the time lines. John Rodwell Sr. who married Nancy Waller in 1785. She could not have been the mother of all his children as John Waller, Brown and Elizabeth's birthday's are before the marriage date. So Nancy must have been second wife. Any info that you have will be greatly appreciated. And any I have I will gladly share. Thanks

Hello Bill and Sally?,

I am really sorry Bill for not seeing your original response back to me. I see my original email was sent in 2008..you responded a year later..and I only saw both your responses today! I hope you both will send me your email addresses. I see Bill you are in Brantford. I am in Ottawa..so only a few hours drive.

If you both look at my website, www.greaves.ca you can see where my connection to the Dukinfields are. In summary I will show you where the connection is:

- Jeremiah James and Frances (Robinson) Greaves (great x 3 grandparents from Preston, Lancs) had a daughter Emily and son George Frederick (it if George who emigrated to Canada),
- Emily Greaves married Oliver Hind and they had daughter Dorothy Frances,
- Dorothy Frances Hind married Charles Guy Dukinfield and they had two children Christopher Guy (1 Aug 1916)and Frances Diane ( 17 Sep 1920),
- Frances Diane Dukinfield married Robert Guy Rodwell.

I had been hoping to find Frances Diane or Robert and of course any of their children. I have pieced all this through GRO certificates..a couple originals being seen and photographed at the Lancs Record Office and others ordered..so I could provide copies.

It is exciting to find relatives to this! Very distant cousins!

My hope in this has been..to add to my tree..but also hoping that any other relatives would have info/photographs going back to my Greaves/Robinson/Hind relatives.

Rob Greaves
Ottawa
email - greaves@magma.ca

Re: MARY RODWELL

Hello Ken, I think your Mary Rodwell is really Mary Rodmell who married my Great, great grandfather, George Lax on December 12th 1843 at St.James's Church in Sutton-upon-Hull. I have been unable to find further information on her. It says on the marriage certificate that her father was a labourer but a witness on the wedding certificate was Edward Rodmell who was a butcher. As far as I can see the Rodmells were farmers which follows that one son could be a butcher. On the 1841 census there was a Thomas Rodmell who had a farm called High Bransholme and william Rodmell who had a nearbye farm called Low Bransholm and some years ago HUll City Council built an enormous housing estate on that area which is called Bransholme Estate - the largest council estate in England at one time. This is in the area of Sutton which used to be a separate village but is now part of Hull and this is where St. James Church is situated so I am sure that Mary Rodmell must be one of that family.

I was Ida Lax beforeI married

No one from that family has been alive since 1954. My mother married into it and had heard that Mary/May died young, perhaps of appendicitis. You wouldn't by any chance have heard anything of her ???? Did they have any children??

Did you look at their wedding photo qat my site??

Did William and Maud have son, Bertrain Leonard Rodwell b. abt 1896? Because that's his parents names. If so, this son married my great aunt, Mary Sergeant Rowan in 1922 in Wentworth Co, CA. I just found her husbands name today. I need to know when and how she died shortly after her marriage.
Not sure about a connection. There were lots of Rodwell's in and around Fressingfield, but I have not been able to find a connection between them and William Rodwell (my G G G Grand Father) born in Walpole 1788 and later married to a Maria Benwell and lived in Huntingfield and Heveningham. I'll reply to this if I do find a connection.

PS. Sorry for the late reply! Moving house and adding to the family, tends to put family history on the back burner.

Hello, I belive that I might have a link to your family. My name is Melissa Boyle and my 3ed Great grandmother was Ann Rebecca Rodwell. She married Zebedee "Elias" Stinson in North Carolina. Per the 1850 census her parents were William & Margaret and a sister named Elizabeth C. Rodwell. They were in North Carolina, then in the 1860 census Margaret and Ann are listed alone. And in 1870 Ann is married and her mother is living with them in Indiana. Can you confirm that your William had a daughter or a sister named Ann?
Thanks. Melissa
jboyle7@kc.rr.com

I knew Geraldine Rodwell. She was my mother's aunt.
I interviewed her a couple of times. One i remember was on July 4, 1977 at her home in wisconsin dells. My tape recorder was working well that night. I think i still have that tape somewhere. We mainly talked about her grandfather, Phrone Landt. She wanted me to write his story. I never did, but i'm glad she did. I only remember talking to her one more time before she died. She was excited that I was interested in our families history. My ex-wife took a picture of the two of us that day. I have nothing but fond memories of my aunt Geradldine. I never saw her as much as my other great aunts because she lived in florida, but I always enjoyed visiting with her. I wished I would have asked more questions.
michael kearney
I am researching the history of the Rodwell family who were originally Radwells. I have traced my family back to Valentine Radwell, born about 1712. The Radwells and Rodwells lived in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire until my granfather, William Rodwell became a policeman in the Port of London and moved with his wife, Elsie to Tottenham after the first world war. William's father was Charles Radwell(Rodwell), a baker, painter and decorater and duck breeder of ducks on Walton pond, Aylesbury. I would love to hear from anyone interested in this branch of the family tree.

Labourer
William, Scholar

1891 England Census, Kent, Erith
William Rodwell, 30, Florist
Alice M.M.,
John, 8
Constaner? (dau), 5
William G., 4

I can't seem to find the Rodwells in the 1901 Census. I Did find Alice Maude M. Seamark marriage to William Rodwell in the June Quarter (either Apr, May or June) 1882 in Greater London, Kent.

This genealogy stuff is very addicting. It's one great big life puzzle where we are always searching for that one piece.
Good luck with your search.
Dawn Powelson

My great great great great aunt was called Martha Rodwell nee Cook. born in Heveningham in 1808 and married John Rodwell b. 1808. I believe they lived in Fressingfield. John was the son of George Rodwell b. 1785. Is there a connection?
