Do you know of any books that would cover the Rohrbachs who lived in Lower Macungie, Lehigh County, PA later than 1821? According to the 1900 census my great grandfather George Rohrbach was living there at that time. He was born in Mar 1852. He and his wife Angelina or Engilina Reese had three children: Francis, James Monroe and Lydia.

Charles Lawton Roorbach

I'm looking for information that will assist in proving that Charles L. Roorbach was the son of John O. Roorbach and Mary F. Lawton. He was born about 1821 in Jersey City, NJ, but the family lived mostly in NYC/Brooklyn. His wife was Mary Jenkins, and after they married they moved to St. Clair, PA. Thanks!

Are you still doing look-ups?? Does your volume, by any chance, mention a Charles Lawton Roorbach (b. 1821) in possibly Jersey City. His parents were John O. Roorbach and Mary F. Lawton. They lived in NYC.

Has anyone traced the Rohrbach family beyond Nichlauss Rohrbach, b.1535? I haven't been able to find any information dated before that. I'm a descendant of the Rohrbach/Rohrbaugh family that settled in the Codorus Township, York County, PA area. Christian Rohrbach was my great x7 grandfather, and Nichlauss Rohrbach was my great x13 grandfather.

Rohrbach family of Berks County, PA in 1700's

Recently I found a handwritten paper my aunt gave me years ago. Someone found the information at Huff's Church, Hereford Twp., PA: She wrote: "Pioneer Hans Jurg Rohrbach - occupation -carpenter - Landed in Philadelphia, PA, Oct 17, 1732, and settled there. Died June 1760. She listed his wife as Christina Moser, and their children were Christina, Lorenz (or Lorentz), George, John, Simon and Eva. If anyone has information on this family, please contact me at spwrc@suddenlink.net One of the wives' names was Elizabeth Gauker, which I already had in my family tree and records. I *think* our ancestor is Lorenz, but I'm having a little trouble connecting the dots.
I'm happy to share what I have as well.
Thanks, Carol Lee, Texas

I put John's picture in the Ziegler Family on Ancestry. Benjamin Ziegler was in the Civil War so if there are any pictures of men with Civil War Uniforms in the album I would very much like to see them.
Thank you.

I have my grandmother Rosa Ziegler Rohrbach's old photo album but none of the people pictured are named. Since your grandfather was Rosa's brother, I was wondering if you have any old family photos with the people identified. If so, would you be willing to allow me to e-mail you some of the pictures so you can compare them to the photos you have. That way I might be able to put some names to the people pictured. The photos are mostly professional and probably taken in the early 1900's. If your name is Ellen, we have e-mailed each other before and I still have your e-mail address.
Thanks
Pat
It is possible your Lydia would have been my great aunt. If this is the same Lydia, her parents would have been George and Angelian or Engilina (Reese) Rohrbach. Her brothers were James Monroe 1881-1958 (my grandfather) and Francis. (As an adult Francis lived in Reading, PA.) They lived in Lower Macungie, Lehigh County, PA in 1900 according to the census from that year. George was born in March 1852 and Angelina in Nov 1851. Not sure about birthdates of Lydia or Francis.

I see a reference to your book written in 1970. Unfortunately, the closest libraries to me do not have it and it is not one that Salt Lake will put on interlibrary loan. I am looking for the pages that include Catherine's link to her parents: Christian and Suzannah (Lau). It also sounds like you have the information on Catherine and her marriage to Abraham McCleary with a listing of their 14 kids as I am descended through their son Franklin. Any information on ordering your book or getting .jpgs of the respective pages would be appreciated. Thank you.

According to a DAR application it was used as proof that Catherine's parents were Christian Rohrbaugh and Suzannah Lau. I am looking for the page number and to find out if it also lists Catherine's marriage to Abraham and lists her children to include in my DAR application.

I, too, am descended from one of the Chicago families of ROHRBACH'S but, without dates and a bit more info we cannot establish a connection.
Balthasar ROHRBACH b. 31 Aug. 1831 in Hesse Darmstadt
d. 8 Sept. 1881
He married Catherine (poss. METZEL) b. 1825 in Hesse Darmstadt
They had the following children, as far asw I know right now:
Elizabeth Rohrbach 1852 –
Lizzie Rohrbach 1859 –
Charles Rohrbach 1862 –
Louisa L Rohrbach 1865 –
1954 Louis Rohrbach 1871 –
You will find a few of them on findagrave.com laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
If you can get in touch with Lewis Bunker Rohrbach, he has a plethora of info on the ROHRBACH'S.
Also, I have a tree at ancestry.com under the title of Lettmann/Unbehaun.
Happy Hunting
Ronnee
If you know of a book that includes George and Angelina who lived in Lower Macungie in 1900 I would be interested in buying it. If you know the title and author of such a book I would like to know what they are. George was born Mar 1852 and his wife Angelina Reese was born Nov 1851 and they had 2 sons, Francis and James Monroe and a daughter Lydia. James was born Feb 7, 1881.

There is a Reading Eagle article dated June 28, 1892, regarding a family reunion for the Rohrbach family. It mentions a Charles Rohrbach, 80 years of age, in the District Twp. Unfortunately the article does not name any of those present such as a wife.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=dU8lAAAAIBAJ&sjid=n...

I wonder if the Berks County Historical Society in Reading could help you make a connection to his spouse and parents.

Based on that obit for Mary Rohrbach, I checked for the names of those married daughters at the Berks Co. website. There was a marriage in 1899 of a William M. Hassler to a Ida L. Conrad. It is found in vol. 23, p. 22. That middle initial might be for Leanda. There wasn't any match that I could see for a marriage to Samuel Miller. All of this may just be coincidence, and it's not the same William Hassler.

When I obtained an actual certficate from the county for one of my family members, it showed the names of the parents. It might be worth it to obtain the actual cert. It cost me $1 for an uncertified copy last year. The link below has contact information at the bottom of the page if you need it for county records.

http://www.co.berks.pa.us/rwills/cwp/view.asp?a=2148&Q=4...=|

Oh Wow!! Thanks!! I was looking under the name Leanda and trying to find it. Every other piece of information I had (including obituaries of her one son and census records as well as tombstone inscriptions of other children) said Leanda. I didn't look under the guys names! I think you are right. I put William Hassler in a search on Ancestry and I found one in 1900 in the same area as Leanda's family. His wife was listed as Leanda and they were married less than a year. There is also a stepson listed and his name is Charles Conrad. I'm going to see about the marriage license for further proof, but I think you've figured it out.

Now all I need to is to track her dad!

Berks County, PA Rohrbach

I have been trying to search for roots of Charles Rohrbach. Charles was born around 1820 in the District Township area of Berks county. I know he married a Mary. They had several children. One of whom was a daughter named Leanda, born about 1862. Leanda married John ( his tombstone says Johannes) Conrad about 1879. They had a son William who was born on March, 29, 1880.

Charles also had several other children. He had a son named Charles who was born about 1860 and another son named Peter who was born in 1869 and died in 1916. There were other children as well, but I'm not to sure on their names. Does any of this match any information someone might have? If so, please let me know.

Also, I'm trying to solve the mystery as to what happened to Leanda. Her husband John died in 1894, leaving her and her two young children. I am unable to find her on any other census record. I did find a record for a Leanna (possibly a typo?) Conrad who married a Samuel Glease in Berks county in 1895. I have been unable to trace either Leanda (Leanna) or Samuel after that record so that I can either confirm or deny that this is indeed the individual for which I am looking.

Any help is appreciated.

In hunting through old newpaper archives, I found the obituary of a Mrs. Charles Rohrbach. I discovered that the Mary, Charles married was Mary Rishel, born in Aug of 1836 and died Feb 1913. I was unable to find an obituary for Charles. I do not have his exact birth year. I know it is probably 1820, give or take 5 years.

My husband and I are both descendants of Rohrbach families in Berks County PA.

My g-g-grandmother was Louisa Y. Rohrbach (born 8 July 1853-died 6 Mar 1921) She married James Yoder and lived in Pike Township, Berks Co. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Yoder) Rohrbach.

Benjamin was born in District Township, Berks Co. 2 Jan 1811 and died in Pike Township in 21 Mar 1863. Benjamin was the son of Daniel and Catherina (Jung) Rohrbach.

Daniel was born 30 Nov 1787 in Hereford Township, Berks Co and died 25 Dec 1866 in Berks Co.

My husband has a g-g-grandmother named either Leanda or Leanea Rohrbach. I've seen it both ways. I do not have much information on her. I'm thinking she may have been born around 1862. She married a John Conrad and lived in the District Township area of Berks county. If anyone has any information on her, I would appreciate the information.

Do you have any info on a Robert Rohrbach born in Ill about 1865? 1900 Census for St. Louis, MO has Robert living at 3115 N. 11th along with my 3X great grandmother Catherine Woodcock and her daughter Birdie Woodcock. Birdie's Death Certificate in 1908 shows that she was married. Her monument has her listed as Birdie Woodcock Rohrbach but no sign of husband. Could Robert be the long lost husband? 1880 Census in Iowa has a Robert, 15 yrs b. in Ill with parents Henry and Caroline Rohrbach. Can anyone help.

HI Jack
I am so sorry in responding late to your email. I was out of town in Cape Cod and am now catching up on emails. Yes, Connie is my mother. We live in Brandon, Fl, just down the street from each other. If I have it right, I think that Edward and my Grandfather, John are brothers. Although I do not remember Edward, I do remember another brother - Uncle Gordian and a sister - Aunt Marie. I think Marie had a daughter named Mary. My mom remembers Helene. She said they used to call her Leenie. (Or something like that). Would love to know more. If you have additional information, please share. I will do the same. Take care... Kathi

My great grandmother was named Lydia Rohrbach DOB possibly 5/23/1880 lived until at least 1960, I think she lived in or near Reading, Pa. She married a man with the last name of Fidler or Fiedler and they had a daughter Grace DOB 5/3/1906 who was my grandmother.

Deborah,
I have been doing a family tree for the Ehrlacher family. Clara Rohrbach married Frank Ehrlacher. Only information I have on Clara is that her father was August. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Jack Evans
jackevans@comporium.net
