How exciting to hear from someone regarding my old posting from November 2010! Flora's only child was Alvina Smith who only had one child (Mr. Hubbards) and her named Charlotta Mellie Hubbard. Interestinly enough Alvina's husband (Charles Hubbard) was also killed by a vehicle in Centralia or Chehalis before Charlotta was born - per Matthews legends. She was my husbands mother. Charlotta died in 1965 here in Washington state. She and her husband had four children: Michael (my husband), Nancy, Gale and Linda Matthews all living except for Linda.

We would love any information that you could share. The Matthews/Hubbard/Smith information in my husbands family is very sparse. Ancestry.com has been a God send so far in trying to put the pieces together!

I am the Services Bureau Commander for the Centralia Police Department in Washington State. It was recently brought to our attention that William H. Smith was a patrolman for our department and was killed by a train in our city in December, 1910. We are in the process of having his name added to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington, DC and we're hoping to locate a living relative. Our research shows that his daughter, Alvina Smith married Charles M. Hubbard in Lewis County, WA on 10/24/1912, though a city directory lists her alone in the 1915-1916 edition and the 1922 - 1923 edition lists her as a widow. It appears that his wife, Flora Smith (nee King) died on 11/05/1940 at the age of 69 in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington.

I haven't been able to find where Alvina had children. Any help or information would be appreciated. By the way, I have a photograph of William H. Smith and copies of newspaper articles chronicling his death if you're interested.

I am looking for my husbands mother Grandmother born in Maine in July of 1870. She married William H. Smith in 1889 and in 1891 they had a child named Alvina born in Minnesota in 1891. In 1900 they lived in Williston, North Dakota, in 1910 they lived in Centralia, Washington and then by 1920 Flora was back in Williston, North Dakota - widowed and living with her daughter Alvia (who also widowed) and her granddaughter Charlotta Mellie Hubbard. Matthews family remember that their Great Grandmother did not speak English and were told that her last name was King which was a translation from Roi.

Oliver KING (1815-1904) and Angeline ARBOUR (1822-1906)

Hello:

I am looking for more information on the family of Oliver KING and Angeline ARBOUR. They seem to have been born in Canada -- perhaps Quebec -- in 1815 and 1822, respectively. They married in about 1842 and had 11 children. The names of 9 of their children are as follows: Angelina, Oliver, Mary, Alexander, Avalena, Adolphus, Malina, Libby, and Victoria.

By 1870, the family had emigrated to the US, settling in the Troy, NY, area where they seemed to have remained the rest of their lives. Oliver died in 1904 and Angelina followed him in 1906. They were both buried in St Jean's Cemetery in Troy.

I suspect that they may have changed their name from ROI to KING when they emigrated.

Any further information is greatly appreciated.

Shannon
Mesa, Arizona

Hi, I wanted to let you know I do have information on the Cadorette side of your family. I am descended from Celina Cadorette, older sister of Joseph Cadorette. Joseph did marry Annie Roy - but I have information on Joseph's family - He was the son of Louis Cadorette b. 16 Jul 1842 in Ste. Rosalie de Bagot, d. 12 Feb 1874 in St. Simon, PQ - m. Zoe Guertin in St. Simon 24 Jan 1865. Zoe married Eusebe Bachand and moved first to Lincoln, RI with the children from Louis and had another daughter with Eusebe-name: Marie Albina. I was told about Aunt Annie and that she died just before I was born. She was very close to the Cadorette family - she was a good friend of Zoe's daughter, Zoe who marreid a Morin as my great grandmother, Celina did - she married Joseph Morin. Louis Cadorette (jr.) married Joe's sister, Olivine Morin. I hope this helps somewhat.

Hello,
I'm looking for any information on my Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Peter Roy/King. He was born in Canada in 1833. In the 1880 U.S. Census he is listed twice in Adams, Massachusetts as Peter Roy and as Peter King. His wife was Adaline Lessare (or Lessard). She was born in 1836 in Canada. They had about 12 children total, and 4 or so were also born in Canada. Thanks,
-Kate.
I am a descendant of Vincent Roi/Roy and Lizette Lacombre. Vincent's father is also named Vincent and his father Pierre. They are of the Metis culture in Canada and subsequently of the White Earth and Fond du Lac reservations in MN, as well as Lapointe, WI. Pierre was b: 1717 in Rivier Des Prairi, Canada. I was wondering if your line of Roi extended to mine as I don't have info prior to the 1700s. Thanks

Hi Kailah
Have you searched on this website for St. Joseph Mission baptismal records? It is in Lapointe WI and, though your Jean Roi born in 1600s won't be there, you may find other Roi/Roy descendants. If you can directly go to rootsweb.com/~merimacki2/Lapoint_h_k.html and then go forward to find the name Roi/Roy. Let me know if you find anything, as I am also a descendant of the Roi/Roy family. Catherine Roy is my gg grandmother and she married Joseph Houle. Catherine's parents are Vincent Roy and Elizabeth Lacombre. If I can help in any other way, let me know.
My great-great grandfather was Jean Roi who married Sophie (Roussel) Roi on July 22nd, 1867. I don't have either of these peoples birth dates or when they died, or where. They would have been born during the 1840's sometime I guess. Still trying to make my family connections going back. Jean Roi changed his name to John King and Sophie would also be a King. Marriage info shows her marrying Jean Roi, so it was changed after 1867. I don't know if we can help each other further our exchange of family data or not. Let me know.

I have recently been trying to find my roots of my KING name and havegotten back to my great-great-great grandfather, Charles ROI. He had married a Josephte Laprise. I don't have any official dates, but would be in the 1830-1840's. Their son, Jean ROI changed his name to John KING, and it continued down the line. I hardly have any info about Charles ROI, his parents, other siblings, where they came from. I don't know how common the ROI name was at that time. We could communicate incase somehow we have some connection. I am not aware of anyone moving to Michigan though.

Roi/Roy/LeRoy from Canada to Michigan

I am searching for Roy/LeRoy/Roi/LeRoi (King) from Canada to Michigan, specifically the Saginaw area. Charles Roy married Maria LeBlanc/Blanc (White) in Canada, probably around 1820. Their children include: John b. about 1820, Charles b. about 1821, Louis b. Dec. 1827, Delia b. 1828, Richard Victor b. 1834, George b. 1840, and Patrick b. 1848. I have found information that all but Charles settled in Saginaw, Michigan and eventually took the name King.

I am descended of George King who married Adeline Laundra/Landry in Michigan in 1870. He was previously married to a girl named Laura in Canada. George and most of his siblings immigrated anywhere from 1855-1862 or so. I am hoping to find any connection to Canada, narrowing a specific location to look for. I believe they would be French and came from Quebec, but I’m hoping to find where in Quebec to start my searching.

Anyone have a connection?
Raymond and Jenny were my GGGrandmother/Grandfather. Raymond and Jenny had a child named Mollie (married name was Glenn), my Great Grandmother - I knew her as a young child as she died in 1970. Mollie's daughter, my Grandmother, is named Loretta (married named is Leonard).
>
I do not know much about Jenny except that she was buried at Concordia, a German cemetery on Walden and Genesee in Buffalo, NY. The problem is that after Raymond died, Jenny remarried and we do not know her second husband's name.
>
Anyhow, I was searching for information on Raymond Pabst. My Grandmother (Loretta) gave me his sword from the civil war. Would you be able to forward me Raymond Pabst's company, regiment, etc.? I'd also be interested in other specifics you know about Jenny.
>
Let me know if there are any other questions that I may answer for you.
